7 Chapter 7
Village Head, one of the jobs with intelligence card operation skill. Through this skill he can make any villager's card appear and forcefully change their status to slave. He can also remove the same status.
"According to the rules of our Village, if there is a theft then the criminal will become a slave and then sold off. Half of the money from selling will go towards their family and the other half will go to the victim"
Such strict rules they have in this world, one misstep and you can lose your freedom.
"I understand"
The village people drag the criminal away.
"Have you finished inspecting the equipment"
"Yes"
"Then please come to my house, breakfast must be nearly ready"
"Thank you"
We skillfully change the subject, saying goodbye to the merchant, we walk back to the village head's house.
Breakfast was something which looked like salad and cheese with oatmeal. It didn't taste that bad, especially for me who had tasted food after many months. I ate slowly, in order to keep up appearances and hide my overeagerness.
"Please stay at this house tonight, I will organize Dinner."
It was a medieval setting where people only ate 2 times, breakfast and dinner, no lunch. I knew that the village head had to properly organize a nice dinner for me, as I was the Hero who saved their village.
"I am looking forward to it"
"The merchant will be leaving tomorrow at dawn, so please sleep early tonight if you want to join him tomorrow"
"How long will the journey take?"
"Approximately 3 hours"
"I will sleep early tonight then"
"I will still once again remind Bikka about it"
I finished my breakfast and stood up.
"Are there any demons nearby"
Monsters in this world are called Demons. As this world setting indicated it's a landscape and a dungeon setting. So monsters can appear outside the dungeons on plains out in the open too.
"If you go to the depths of the forest in the north, you will find slow rabbits"
"The slow rabbits are easy to hunt right?"
"They don't attack people, so it's a relatively easy fight. But it still takes about a group of several villagers to defeat them, so for you it should be an easy win"
Not for me, but for Durandal sure.
"If you defeat it, it drops fur and on rare occasions it will drop meat"
Ooh meat how much time has it been since I tasted any, that too magical rabbit meat, I am sure it will taste delicious. I am salivating just thinking about it.
"There are young people in the village who would also like to hunt slow rabbit, would you be interested in taking them together"
Nope absolutely not. First I don't know them so I don't find them trustworthy, they could be that criminal man's friend who became a slave because of me. Second, I have too many secrets already. Third, I don't want to share my exp. Fourth, there is no gain for me to take them together.
"It will be good experience to take them with you"
"They must be frightened and exhausted because of the morning fight, let them rest I will be back soon anyway"
"Oh yes, that is true"
"Can you give me a bag in which I can store fur, if I find any"
"Sure thing, Michio-sama"
Taking my new Iron sword and the cloth bag I started walking towards the forest.
I enter the forest and look around. It's not that dense, just trees and bushes with different bird noises. It feels like a nature walk.
After walking for like 20 more minutes, I see a creature in front of me.
[Slow Rabbit Level 1]
It is approximately 50 cm long covered in white fur and looks exactly like a rabbit. It looks kinda cute too, but I am still thinking about its meat. Its my first demon so let's use Durandal.

Durandal appears in my hands, refreshed. The old Durandal which had blood on it is replaced with a new one, so instead of cleaning all I have to do is to convert it into points and summon it again.
But that's why equipment made by bonus points is so dangerous. Like it's not just a piece of equipment, its my bonus points. That too in Durandal's case is a whooping 63 bonus points, so if someone steals it then ,I will lose those points forever.
Those bonus points are the most precious resource for me.
I creep up slowly behind the slow rabbit in the shadow of a tree with Durandal in hand. I slash at the blissfully unaware rabbit's shoulder.
My Durandal cuts straight through the demon, the slow rabbit was defeated in one blow. Green smoke starts coming from the demon's body, and its whole body starts melting.
When the smoke stops all that is left on the ground is a small white piece of fur. Its slow rabbits fur, which does make sense. I pick it up and put it in my bag and move on.
I find another level 1 slow rabbit just ahead. This time I changed my setting again, wanting to find how long does it normally take.

I take out my iron sword from my waist, and go near it slowly through the shadows just like a thief.
I bring my sword down hard on its shoulder. But this time it didn't go through its body, it didn't even penetrate at all. From what I am seeing it hardly did a thing.
Kinda knowing that this would happen I slash it again and a third time. Still I don't feel like I am cutting anything.
The slow rabbit slammed into my chest. It was a pretty slow attack but I got greedy and wanted to hit it a 4th time.
Even if I am wearing iron armor I still take 2 steps back. The shocks are painful, but because of the armor the chest part is not hurting. I have to try dodging its attacks as only my middle section is protected.
I swipe at its belly and another one down at its shoulder and as it jumps at me, I side step easily avoiding its charge. It is quite slow as its name suggests but mostly because it's just level 1.
As I try to hit its head, It moves his head dodging my attack but it still hits its shoulder. I keep attacking again and again while being cautious of its attack.
Little by little I start feeling that I am doing damage, I am cutting a bit deeper now, the resistance I was feeling is being chipped down.
While attacking I have to keep in mind that I don't get greedy, mostly I do 2 attacks and give it a turn to attack, like a turn based game. But I still got attacked two more times mainly because I am still a noob in fighting I guess, but yeah I feel my HP decreasing. Every time this happens I have to regain my balance and gain momentum again.
When I strike it the 15th time it finally falls to the ground.
It becomes smoke again and disappears leaving rabbit fur behind.
