Day 6: Enough is enough.

The days kept moving, passing, slipping through their hands like sand, and yet, they were no closer to freedom, no closer to finding a way back home. Tensions were running high, Izara and Ezra fighting more and more the longer they stayed together in the small space of the room, trying to figure out a plan. Alexander was experiencing withdrawal and his patience was getting thinner and thinner the more the other two argued while Cleandro and Corneille tried to stay as far away from the arguing as they could both physically and mentally, trying to make the best of their situation while Hyun was reaching the end of her optimism, the long days and constant fighting and tense atmosphere winding her down much faster than anything else.

The new day of day 6 since they arrived here started like every else. With yelling and arguing and Huyn was over this. With a sigh, she got up from the lying position she was in and looked at the sight in front of her. Alexander, Ezra, and Izara all yelling at each other, Corneille with his head between his knees, hands covering his head, and Cleandro leaned lying down next to him and looking at the ceiling, not seeming to be paying any attention to the arguing, so used to their raised voices it didn't seem so weird.

"Shut up, shut up, shut up!" she murmured, hands covering her ears and head pounding with an upcoming headache, her eyes pulsing behind the eyeballs so she forced them close. "Everybody just shut up!''

The talking seized as soon as the yell was heard, all heads turning to look at her yet she didn't seem to notice their stares as she tried to calm down, slow her breathing, and will the headache away, at least a little bit. A few seconds passed with no one speaking, all waiting for the woman to say something. When Hyun realized that silence had taken over the small room, she turned her head to look at her companions with an angry stare.

"Haven't you gotten tired of all the arguing? You have been arguing for six days and all you have accomplished is getting to know how high your voice can get.'' she scoffed and lowered her hands, crossing them below her chest, "Honestly. You are all so focused on us leaving this place that no one thought that maybe this is somehow beneficial to us?"

"That's what I am saying! If we hang out here a little bit more then we will be declared dead or missing, he will lower his guard and then we will strike!'' Izara chimed in, voice loud and self-righteous, eyes glaring at the two men behind her.

"And WE,'' Alexander pointed to himself and Ezra, "are telling you that it is an awful idea! I don't know about you all but I have family behind that I don't want to upset with the news that I am dead even though I am PRETTY MUCH ALIVE!'' he yelled the last part, his face becoming an alarming shade of red.

"Izara is right but so is Alexander." Huyn intervened before any of the two could start the argument again, "We left behind people we care about so we can't just let them grieve or worry while we are still perfectly healthy and just stuck," she looked at Izara who huffed and lowered her head in defeat, tired of arguing the same point again and again, "however we can't ignore the opportunity that this has proven out to be. Thanks to the destroyed portal back home and Corneille, not many will know where the hell we are so they can't really send out a search party to look for us. We can use this time to hone our skills and plan our next course of action."

With that, she looked at all of them in the eyes, at least whose eyes she could catch. The situation was far from ideal, this was clear but they couldn't continue to mop around and pity their fate or argue until their voices became hoarse. With a sigh, she softened and put on a small smile, her anger and frustration melting from her form as she looked at her companions. Unlike her and Alexander, these were children, even though most of them were legally adults, they were still children to her eyes and they were thrust into this so suddenly and with no warning.

"I know that this is not ideal but we have to work with what we have. We can't let this situation bring our spirits down. Let's just keep hanging on, okay?" she asked with a small smile and got some murmurs of agreement, some smiles and some grunts accompanied with a nod. Happy that she at least accomplished this, she turned to look at Alexander who was still frowning and wasn't looking at her.

''Alex, join me for a walk. We have to find some food anyway," she said and without waiting for an answer, she grabbed his arm and dragged him outside and into the forest who was now become startling familiar to both of them.

...

They walked together for a while, looking for different berries or fruits or anything to be honest that didn't seem to be poisonous. They didn't talk, Hyun seeing the worry and stress lines that had appeared on the other's face, along with some gray hair on his black-ish hair. She didn't want to add any more stress to his life right now, knowing how well he handled it. Biting her lip, she reached her hand out and pulled at a gray streak of hair and pulled, causing the other to stop and yelp, turning around to face her with a frown.

"What the hell Hyun?" he asked, rubbing his head, specifically the place where the streak was before dramatically, like he was actually hurt.

"You should stop worrying so much Alexander. You are going gray," she said with a chuckle, waving around the short gray hair that was barely visible but apparently, devastating enough.

Alexander's eyes widened and started pulling his hair, trying to see if he had any more yet his hair was too short to pull in front of his eyes so the sight was more ridiculous than anything else. It reminded her of a dog trying to catch his tail and she couldn't help but laugh, the laugh boisterous and loud, coming from deep within the belly, her arms around her stomach. While she was laughing, Alexander had stopped and was looking at her like she was crazy but after a while, he started chuckling as well.

This was something they both needed after those couple of days. Just laugh at something stupid. Let the worries wash away from them, lightened their heart up along with their tense postures. Hyun couldn't recall a time when she had laughed as hard as she did now.

When they finally stopped, she looked at him and approached him, enveloping him in her arms. They didn't say anything, didn't have to say or address anything because they both knew. They stood together for a while but let go when it started turning awkward and with a pat on the back, they started walking back. Yet, as they walked, they heard talking. People talking.

Quickly, they hid behind some big trees as the voices were getting louder and louder. They could distinguish two people talking in a foreign language, not one that they were familiar with or had even heard before but that was not so surprising, considering all the countries and different languages spoken around the globe. At least they knew that they must be locals because they weren't speaking English. At least, that is what they thought.

"Are you sure that we are not going to get lost, right?'' another voice said, this one speaking English. Risking a glance, they saw 3 people dressed in khakis and holding big knives that were presumably used for cutting the wildlife around them.

''Do not worry friend. I know Amazon. Tower not far away.'' the one in the lead said in broken English with a warm and reassuring smile.

'Maybe they are some kind of tourists and that is their guide?' Hyun heard Alexander speak inside her mind. Risking a glance towards her companion, she nodded and looked back at the people who were walking.

'What do we do?' she thought back to him as the people were getting further and further away. Their window was getting smaller and smaller and while it was their ticket out, they couldn't really explain to the authorities of this place how they got here or what happened to them. Though, now that she thinks about it, Alexander could just use his powers on the people around and be done with it. However, who knows what unwanted attention that might attract.

'The guy has a map hanging from his backpack. Try to get it.' she heard Alexander answer followed by a chuckle. She threw him a glare, knowing he was laughing with her internal thoughts but they were valid concerns that apparently no one else carried.

Without another second lost, she left her hidden place and used the shadows of the trees to hide her presence while she was following them. She tried to make her footsteps light and was especially careful not to step on things that would cause attention to her, like fallen twigs and dried leaves. Yet, even when she stepped on them her targets didn't seem particularly alarmed, probably thinking it was just an animal something that suited her well.

Slowly, she was closing in on them without anyone having seen her. When they walked around a particularly dark spot, the guide had to stop so he could help the lady that was with them cross over the small river. Hyun grabbed the opportunity and snatched the map from the guide's backpack, quickly retreating as to not collide with them when they crossed the river.

She saw them go, all three unware of her presence which was a relief to her. It wasn't like she wasn't confident in her own powers and strength but she couldn't help but worry. Right now, she wasn't alone. While she knew that the others that were with her were powerful in their own rights and could protect themselves without her help, in her eyes, they were still children who shouldn't be involved in this mess that they had caused. Alas though, the youngers always paid the price of their predecessors and that apparently wasn't going to change any time soon.

With a sigh, she looked up and noticed that the sun had begun to lower in the sky, almost long gone and has given its place to the moon who was shining brightly above them, waving goodnight at the sun that was almost gone but not yet, like it clung a little bit more to the day as the humans did. Smiling, she made her back to where she had left Alexander, having memorized the route back while she was chasing the tourists and the guide, map clutched tightly in her hand like a precious treasure that she couldn't afford to lose. She didn't know if it would be useful to them in any way but at least now they had something to guide them, literally and figuratively.

She just hoped that the guide didn't need the map or she had just doomed these people.
