4 Chapter 4

9 Months had passed since the start of the project and the development was almost complete. Michael and his team has gone through a tone of Trials with the MCU to make sure that when in the field it doesn't cause problems and to ensure the stability of the A.I. programming inside of the MCU.

The cost of one MCU was a lot of money and required a lot of resources. This would require a lot of Convincing on Axel's side as he would have to convince ONI that the cost was well worth it.

The A.I. Programming would give the MCU the ability to respond to their Superiors just like any other soldier.

Hundreds of hours were spent testing the combat capability of the MCU which after the first test needed some major adjustments to the aiming calibrations and targeting Module. The MCU would be unable to aim it's weapon at friendly forces unless it's given an override code which is something that only Axel knows.

As part of the test a team of MCU's went up against a team of ONI soldiers as part of the final phase before the project was finished. By this time the MCU was already 100% completed and had an 100% Operation capability meaning that the MCU will not have any operational problems at all in the field.

A Board of people including an Admiral was present to watch the showdown between the ONI soldiers and the MCU's.

Once the battle began the ONI soldiers moved with Tactical precision as they wanted to corner the MCU's and give them little to no room to operate. The thought that they could minimize the operational space of the MCU's which will allow them to corner them and finish them off.

But the MCU's were equipped with 360 Cameras and Sensors and had the data of thousands of battles in their memory core. 

Unit-3843 was the commander for the MCU side and he had picked up what the enemy was doing. This tactic would have worked on normal robots maybe but the MCU's were made exactly for combat and had the thousands of tactics in their Memory core.

And so by utilizing their tactical advantage the MCU's had came out on top with an overwhelming victory over the ONI forces. The Group of people sent by ONI had all stood up and started clapping before they came down to meet with Axel.

"Commander Woods, I must say that the MCU is beyond what we would imagine" Said one the Executives of ONI

"Commander Woods, I must admit, I was skeptical about this project from the start," the admiral said, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "But you and your team have exceeded all expectations. This MCU has proven to be a force to be reckoned with."

Axel shook the admiral's hand firmly "Thank you, sir. It's been a long and challenging process, but I'm glad that we were able to deliver beyond your expectations." In Truth it was simple for Axel to come up with something like this he just didn't want to make it seem like he didn't put any effort in at all so that he could fool these Old fools who will only use him for their benefit.

The group of ONI executives began discussing amongst themselves, exchanging impressed whispers as they assessed the MCU's performance.

As they continued their discussion, Axel's mind wandered to the potential applications of this technology.

With the success of the MCU, he could envision a future where these robotic soldiers would become an integral part of military operations. Their adaptability, tactical prowess, and unwavering loyalty made them invaluable assets on the battlefield. Axel's mind raced with ideas for further enhancements and improvements.

But the MCU wasn't the only thing that Axel had in his mind. He had plans to create a more powerful weapon for the Standard use by the MCU's.

He planned to further surprise the ONI executives by creating a more powerful weapon than the already standard use MA5C created by the Misriah Armory. The newly created weapons would be standard use for the MCU's.

While Axel was lost in thought the Admiral and a few other men approached him with a document in hand.

Axel had snapped back to reality and took the document which was handed to him.

"Commander this Document will allow for the funding and construction for a total of 500 MCU units which will be used against the Insurgents across the Galaxy" Said the Admiral

Axel nodded his head as he read over the Document while listening to the Admiral at the same time. 

"In addition since you are a Military Officer the Top Brass at ONI has decided to place you in charge of leading these 500 Robotic Units as the Battalion Commander of the 1st Robotic Battalion" Continued the Admiral which caused Axel to look up from the Document that he was reading.

"Don't worry you will retain your position as the Head of Section 3 only your responsibilities will be expanded and you will receieve more funding from the Top Brass" explained the Admiral as he got closer to Axel to where only the two of them could here each other.

"I don't know what the Top Brass see in you but you are young and you have proven yourself numerous times already. And I like to see those who are young rise in the ranks so from here on out you have my support if you need it" Said the Admiral.

Axel had snapped to attention and performed a almost perfect Military salute "Thank you Sir, I won't let you down"

The Admiral smiled as he turned around and walked away "I know you won't son so keep striving for greatness" 

The ONI executives stayed for a few more minutes talking before they left. Axel had already returned back to the lab to begin development of a new rifle to replace the MA5C.

Meanwhile the Engineers got to developing the 500 MCU's as requested by the Top Brass at ONI. With additional funding Axel was able to expand the facility and request additional personnel.
