~~Rose~~

Delirium held my attention as I laid on my bed. How long had it been? What happened to us?Why was I like this?

When was the last time I slept since whatever happen occurred?

I couldn't remember anymore.

Week--that was his name, right? I can't recall anymore--had left an hour ago to go track someone. Who was he tracking again?

I simply couldn't recall.

I ran my hand over my slightly swollen belly and sighed again.

A lady with dark hair and a pretty jewel crown had come to sit with me a few days ago--I think?--and told me that I was carrying a baby.

...I lost my baby...

The thoughts in my head held little shape for me to focus on. When was the last time I was able to focus on something? Or remember something concrete?

...Mauraline...

When was the last time I left my bed?

...baby, Mommy's coming...

The numbness crashed over me in wave number two as more shapeless thoughts tried to fight their way into my consciousness.

...Maura...

Who's Maura?

...Mommy's here, darling, don't fear...

A small giggle escaped as more numb crashed down and traveled through my veins. It was beautiful, the emptiness surrounding my very being and keeping all the pain away. I want more of it.

...hush, my dear girl, I'm coming to get you...

The man came back and was standing next to me. His eyes were pretty green.

Who was he again?

...M...a...u...r...a...

"You need some sleep, Rosie girl."

Some part of me started slamming on the door of my consciousness. I wanted the pounding to go away.

...Maura!!!...

I curled into a ball around my head and whimpered at the pain I was receiving.

"Rose, you need to listen to my voice, please. Tell me what's wrong. Let me help you--"

...Don't need help...

...need...Maura...

I felt a body crawl next to me and wrap themself around my trembling form. Why are my cheeks wet?

...baby, where did you go...

"Shhh, Rose, it's okay. It's all gonna be okay. We know where our girl is."

...Baby...

A sob escaped me as the pain intensified again.

...Mauraline...

"My baby," I sobbed out and felt lips press against my temple.

"I know, Rosie. We found her and tomorrow we're gonna go get her, but you need to get some sleep if you want to come with us. Okay? I promise, I won't leave you until you wake--"

He went on and his name still eluded me as I felt my conscious plunging into a dark pool.

I let myself slip into the inky darkness of sleep.

~~Week~~

"How much more do you need to launch a fucking attack on the place holding my kid?" I screamed at the commander--archdemon Sitri--staring at the white dot on the screen that signified Maura, my sweet girl. Our sweet girl.

"It's not that easy, Xaphan. You know the rules--"

"To fucking, burning hell with the rules, I want my daughter back, damn it!"

"Xaphan, listen-"

"No, Sitri," I slammed my fist down on the table and jumped up and at him. "My daughter has been missing for three weeks. My promised is five weeks pregnant. My promised won't eat, hasn't slept in the three weeks since our daughter went missing. And yet, Sitri, you want to follow logic and rules?" I spat at him, knowing the anger in my eyes was causing them to burn and brighten. "Fuck you."

The sound of heels clicking took my attention away from planning to snap his neck. I stared at Angel as she grabbed my hand and pulled me away from Sitri.

Kai was right behind her to pull me to his side as he watched his soulmate stare down at the map with the small blip of Maura shining brightly.

"That's the child?" she asked, her voice icy and cold towards her commander, who stood up a bit straighter.

"Yes, Madame. She's being held in a house with a barrier preventing her from going off the property. She seems to be free to move around the house as she pleases." Sitri said as he stared at the wall behind her.

"Good. I expect a rescue party to be sent tomorrow for a swift and safe retrieval of the girl." She turned to walk towards us when Sitri spoke again.

"But, Madame. We're doing something for a hybrid girl that we wouldn't even do for a full-blood. Why should we rescue her when there are other children who are pure-"

He stopped speaking as a thorn of light magic threatened his throat with a slight prod, drawing a bit of blood.

"Mind repeating that, commander?"

He gulped. "Why should we expend the resources for a bastard child-"

The thorn got even closer to his throat, causing a sharp intake of breath by the other people in the room with us.

"That 'bastard child' happens to be my niece, commander. Someone who holds more power in her pinky than you hold in your entire body. I'll ask this time, is there a rescue team ready for tomorrow to retrieve the girl or not?"

"We do, but we'll be down some people-"

"Xaphan, Kai. You two will come along, and of course we'll bring the Archangel Rosalina." Her smile was vicious, willing someone to say something to spite her decision.

She began to walk out, having Kai drag me behind.

"Sorry, dude, but I have to do this," he eventually apologized. "If it was my kid, the commander would be dead."

"He was about to be. Next time I get my hands on him-"

"Enough, boys." Angel said as the door shut behind us. She turned and crossed her arms and stared at me with an expression that Rose would use every time I did something obnoxious to her.

Rose, my Rosie girl.

"Week, have something to say for yourself?" she asked, tapping her foot. I sighed.

"Sorry, Angel, for almost murdering someone for the tenth time this week. But-"

"None of that, Week. Go to Rose. She needs you. We leave once she wakes."

I nodded and turned to run towards her.

"Oh, and take care of her for me."
