34 The Past (part 4) "Confession"

15-year-old Jake and Abby sat in silence watching the second movie of their movie marathon..

As it ended Abby spoke..

"Wow, that was a really good one!!"

"Usually romance isn't my genre but yeah that was good"

Jake replied..

Abby saw it as a perfect chance to talk about what they read in Jake's journal..

"Soo... A random question.. If you were the protagonists in that movie, what would you do? Like how would you confess?"

Jake thought for a moment before answering Abby's question..

"Well.. One thing for sure I would NEVER shout it like the main character.. He's insane for doing that was embarrassing! I'd... Um.. I don't know I never thought about it"

"So like you're much of a .. silent secret admirer type?"

Jake laughed..

"Probably?"

"Hey, Jake um .. I wanted to talk to you about something"

Jake took a sip of his banana milk while looking at them as he said..

"Go ahead"

"I.. um... Do you.. Do you like someone?"

As soon as Jake heard those words he begin to cough uncontrollably as he choked on his drink..

Abby quickly begin to rub his back while asking him if he was okay to which Jake nodded..

" W-why are you asking me that?" He said

"The thing is.. You know that .. You know I love you right?" They paused..

"I.. I kinda read... your... Diary? That was over there" they pointed towards where the diary was..

"W-wha-" he stuttered as his face slowly begin to turn red and his heart skipped a beat..

"You did what!!?"

"Don't worry I just read a few pages and I promise I won't judge you or hate you or anything I'm fine with it!" They quickly said as they were worried that Jake will start to panic..

Although in reality, they weren't okay with it—They just didn't know it yet..

"Y-you're okay with i-it?"

Abby nodded facing him, looking him right in the eye..

"Y-yeah I just.. wanted to.. hear it from you.. just to be sure... So.. Do you.. um.." they inhaled deeply before saying..

"Do you like Ash?"

Jake blinked a couple of times looking at them with confusion written all over his face..

"Huh?"

"Huh?" Abby stared back at him with the same amount of confusion on their face..

"Ash? Where did he come from-"

"You like Ash don't you?" Abby said with mixed emotions on their face..

" No.. I-"

"Look you don't have to hide I totally understand and and I-I'll support you both no matter what I mean I'll try my best I don't have a problem with that I just want you to be happy with whoever makes you happy I will be happy by just seeing you happy and I love you and-"

Jake cut them off by placing a soft kiss on their cheek..

"I like you, you idiot.. Not your brother .. You.. It's you dumbass" he said..

Abby was surprised about what just happened—Their eyes were wide open and their mouth was slightly opened from shock..

As the realization set in, Jake begin to blush and panic about what he had just done..

He didn't know what got into him, where all that sudden confidence came from..

"You..like me?" They murmured..

Jake looked down at his lap and nodded..

"Since when?" They asked..

"I don't know.. It may sound funny but..I don't know"

"But-"

"I know... I know it's wrong and stuff and I know that already ok it's just.. I couldn't help it.. It wouldn't be a prob if you didn't find that diary but you-" he sighed..

"Just forget about it..we can pretend that nothing ever happened"

Jake fake looked like he was a sad puppy who just got kicked.. Abby couldn't help but wonder ...

'Would it be ok.. I mean there's nothing wrong with.. but..'

"What if others find out" Abby slowly looked up at Jake..

"Huh?" He was confused..

"W-we can try but what if they-"

"Y-you are willing...to date..me?" He couldn't believe it.. He thought it was just his head again making up things..

They slowly nodded while looking at him..

Jake's heart skipped another beat..

He couldn't believe that someone was actually choosing him..

"Me? As in....me? Why- i-i mean.. uh.. You'd really..date me? Like...for real?"

Abby lightly punched his arm before saying..

"How many times do you want me to say it huh? Yes, stupid...you.."

A big smile formed on Jake's face..

"But others...." Abby was still unsure how it would turn out..

"They don't have to know"

"Huh?"

"They don't have to know about us.. I know they will surely cause trouble once they find out and it may get crazy but just.. we can at least give it a try you know.. Just us...and no one else has to know"

"But what if.."

"I don't care.. You're the only person I care about.. You're the only person who was there for me.. The only person who listened to me and understood me and and made me feel like I'm worth something too.. If it wasn't for you, I-I'd be.. Live would be a living hell for me.. You changed my life and and I-I don't even know just when I started feeling this way but.. I just realized it recently.. and I know it sounds cliché as hell but yeah t-that's the truth."

Despite all the troubles, young kids were willing to be with each other..

They knew what they were doing might seem wrong to a lot of people but as long as they have each other, they knew they'll be fine..

They were young but they were wise enough to know that they can't change their fate..

"Even if we can't change the ending, we can still write some pages together; At least we can make some memories together and store them in our hearts forever so later when we're not together, we'll take them out and it will at least make us smile for a moment"
