21 Shame

Jake was about to leave the restroom when he heard people talking outside..

"Did you see that mark on their arm?"

"Wait how did you see that? They're always wearing a blazer or full sleeve sweaters" Person B asked..

Jake heard Person A laugh..

" Well, you can say that I was just shooting my shot when I asked their arm but you know what it made them wince in pain.. I got curious so I've been keeping an eye on them.. I saw it when they took off their coat"

Person B gasped..

" No way- Don't tell me you f*cking sneaked in while they were changing-! No way dude!"

Person A laughed again which made Jake's blood boil even more..

"One thing I can tell you for sure.. Their body is covered with bruises and scars it's kinda scary but it's hot at the same time I mean imagine-"

His words were cut off as jake stormed out in the middle of their conversation and punched his face, making him fall to the ground..

Jake knew if he started a fight with them here, it will just damage Abby's reputation.. He recognised both of them.. Thanks to his observant personality he notices every time a new member joins his department, especially his team..

One of them who was talking about Abby was a new member of his team— Jaden Ray.. One of Jake's junior..

The other one was an intern, Oliver James..

He grab Jaden who was on the floor wiping blood that came out of his nose because of Jake's punch, by the collar and dragged him to the CEO's office..

Ruby Grace who was the CEO of the company Jake was working for, was also a good friend of Jake.. He knew she never tolerate these kinds of behaviour and fire the worker immediately..

She believed that a person who can't respect others is not suitable for her company.. She was a strong woman who went through a bunch of stuff herself and knew how to fight for herself..

She was one of the people Jake respected the most..

He opened the door of her office and pushed Jaden inside.. He knew people around had their eyes on him but at the moment, he couldn't care less..

Ruby looked at them with a questioning look—She could tell by Jake's facial expression that something was wrong..

"What happened?" She asked..

Jake looked at Jaden with his hands tightly clenched into a fist..

"You were being quite proud about it back then weren't you? How about you repeat everything you said for us?"

"T-that wasn't true- I-I was just joking"

"Really? Then why don't we ask Ruby Ma'am to check the CCTV footage?"

"I-I.." He stuttered, not knowing what to say..

"Jake.. Tell me what happened"

Looking back at Ruby he said.

"This creep sneaked into the.. The changing room.. And.." He could feel anger creeping up inside him once again..

"No- I-I.."

Jake was even more pissed to see that he still dared to deny that..

He raised his hand to land another punch but Ruby told him to stop, and he immediately stopped..

"Is that true Jaden?"

"I-I-"

She slammed her hand loudly on the table in front of him making Jaden flinch..

Ruby was an intimidating woman with sleeve tattoos and a bunch of ear piercings.. Anyone would find her scary at first but she was indeed a soft person from the inside..

They say pain changes people but it never changes who they truly are by heart..

"Yes. Or. No?" She asked once again looking at Jaden right in the eye.

He shamefully looked down nodding his head and mumbling a ''Yes''..

She grabbed her phone and typed something..

"You don't have to come here anymore.. You're fired"

She said with a cold tone and a blank face expression.. Her voice was so cold that it alone was enough to scare anyone..

Jaden tried to explain himself but she just said

"Are you going to leave by yourself or shall I call the security?"

Jaden had no choice but to leave.. Before leaving, he made one last eye contact with Jake—His eyes were screaming 'You will pay for this' but not like Jake cared..

Jake sighed hoping to cool down a bit but one punch wasn't enough for him to release his anger..

"Was it Abby?"

She knew about Abby and Jake.. Jake has known Ruby even before he joined the company..

Jake first met Ruby when she was about to jump off of a building—He practically saved Ruby's life..

A year after that, he got accepted into this company and after joining the office he found out that Ruby was the CEO of the company..

Jake saving Ruby's life was nothing less than a miracle for Ruby— Her life changed after she met Jake.. She became stronger and the CEO of a company..

Jake nodded..

She walked to Jake patting his shoulder twice, lightly..

"You did the right thing"

Jake walked out of the office walking straight to the Intern, Oliver..

He was busy typing something on his computer..

Jake slammed his hand on Oliver's table making him flinch..

"If I hear anything about you or see you involved in anything again, You're going to be the next one"

Oliver was way younger the Jake and no doubt he respected Jake a lot too..

"I-I'm sorry.. It won't happen again"

"It better not"

With that, Jake walked back to his office..

His anger slowly melted away when he saw Abby sitting on his chair looking at his drawing while drinking the coffee they said they made for Jake..

He quietly walked behind Abby and said..

"I thought you made that coffee for me"

The sudden voice made Abby flinch, accidentally spilling the coffee all over Jake's handwritten notes..
