18 Lily loves Jakey

People say that love makes you weak..

That's a lie.. Love is the most beautiful part of life.. It is the only thing that gives us the strength to continue asking for nothing in return.. It doesn't make us weak instead it gives us strength to fight, to live..

There are many people out there who have lost their will to live because they don't have someone to love..

When they find it hard to live for themselves, they do it for the people who love them and the people they love..

There's another saying that love hurts which is not true as well..

Love is the only thing that doesn't hurt.. Hurt comes from the emotions that come along with love.. It's the fear of losing the one you care for, it's the pain you feel when you see them in pain, it's the fear of betrayal, the fear of not being good enough for them..

It can break you but if your love is strong enough and luck is on your side, you can overcome it easily..

In Jake and Abby's case, their love was strong to overcome any difficulty, any fear but unfortunately, luck was never on their side and they were too young to fight their fate..

Jake was feeling much better—for a while, he was returned to his comfort place.. After eating ice cream, he felt as if his energy has been restored into his body..

He was running around, playing with little lily..

But there was something that confused him, one thing he couldn't understand.. He noticed that Abby wasn't even looking at their daughter.. They were avoiding lily..

He wanted to ask but he knew that now wasn't the right time for that..

He was so busy playing around with Lily that he didn't even realise that it was late.. It was time to go back home..

He was standing beside the slide, watching lily play..

One thing he noticed about lily was that she wasn't hesitating around him anymore— She was finally comfortable..

"Lily~ it's time to go home honey" Ms Jane said..

" Nawt yet!!!!!! Fiiibee moorew minnss pweess!" (Not yet! Five more minutes please!)

" It's late .. Uncle Jake has to go home too you know" she was trying her best to convince the little girl..

" NUUU!!" Jake's heart melted when he felt the little girl hug his leg.. She was barely reaching his knee..

He couldn't help but pick her up and as soon as he did, the little girl wrapped her small arms around his neck..

"Liwliyy dunn wanna guu!" (Lily don't wanna go) Jake heard the little girl mumble..

He could feel Abby looking at them from a distance, sitting on a bench all alone but as soon as he looked over in their direction their eyes met—Barely for a second before they looked away..

Jake sighed and softly patted the little girl's back..

"Hey, lily.. She's right.. It's late.. you sho-" he was cut off by lily..

"Jaeekeeyy dun wan tu plway wiff liwlliy? Hee dun wikee liwliyy" (Jakey don't want to play with lily? He don't like lily?) The pout that was on lily's face and those puppy eyes could melt any heart and Jake, was not an exception..

"Noooo he loves playing with lily.. He loves lily!"

The little girl gasped..

" Jaeekey lubbb lieeliy?? Lieliiy lubb himmm tooww" (Jakey love lily? Lily love him too!)

Once again she wrapped her small arms around Jake's neck, hugging him tightly..

Jake couldn't help but laugh at her reaction..

"How about this.. Let's go home for now and then tomorrow he can come again to meet you? Right, Jake?"

Ms jane suggested to which jake nodded..

" Pwoomise?" (Promise?) Lily held out her pinky asking Jake to make a promise..

" Promise" he said intertwining his pinky finger with lily's small ones..

" Yay!!!" Lily exclaimed with joy..

On Jake's way back home, he couldn't stop thinking about his day.. Except for the part where he had to eat with his parents, it was a good day for him..

He lowkey had a feeling that he will be seeing Abby more from now on but would it really be a good idea?

He knew that he couldn't turn back time and fix all the mistakes he unintentionally made and the damage he caused to others, but now that he was given another chance to correct his mistakes, would it really be a good idea to take that opportunity?

Him, getting another chance was nothing less than a miracle however, Jake couldn't help but wonder..

'What if this too is a mistake'

He went home and saw Iris waiting for him sitting at the dining table alone..

"You're late" she said looking at Jake..

"I ran into a colleague and..yeah I forgot about the time"

"I'm sorry"

The reason behind her waiting for Jake to come home, was guilt..

"I shouldn't have asked you to come along.. I tried to go after you but they didn't let me..I'm sorry"

Jake nodded knowing that she shouldn't be the one to apologise—He knew it wasn't her fault..

He walked closer to her and placed his hand on her shoulder..

"Don't apologise for something that wasn't your fault"

"But I-" She was cut off by her brother..

"None of that was your fault.. And.. Don't worry about me I'm ok"

"She still shouldn't have said that to you"

"I know.. But I'm used to it.. Don't worry" he placed his hand on her head, patting her softly with a smile..

"So... Did you enjoy your day?"

Iris smiled back at her brother and nodded..

"Except for 'that' part.. Yes I did"

"Good.. Take care of that koala ok"

Once again she nodded..

"Go back to your room now and get some sleep"

He said to her before heading to his room..

Jake walked out of his bathroom, ready to go to bed.. He walked to his desk, took out his diary and his pen before going back to his bed..

He sighed gripping his pen tightly, as he begin to turn the thoughts in his mind into words in his diary..

"Would it really be fair for a person like me to look at the bright side?

Spending a day with Iris and then meeting Abby and Lily, indeed was a day well spent..

I just hope iris won't blame herself for what happened anymore..

If I could turn back time, would I be able to change the ending?

Although I never had any other choice, but if I tried harder.. Back then.. Would I be able to change my fate as Ms Jane said?"
