THE DOCTOR WAS CONCERNED

"What is wrong with you? I was so worried and why the hell did you leave me? Do you know you could have gotten hurt taking rides from strangers?" Sidney turns away from him, 'he talking about strangers hurting and what did he do?'

Responding to his remarks, "Why do you play your care now? When you were ready to leave me to those vagabonds, and you did say when you take me to the roadway, that I am on my own, so why are you angry? are you guilty about something?"

Seeing him becoming angrier Sidney didn't care, "Now kindly do me a favour and just leave me alone for God's sake. I can take care of myself now." Recalling those were her exact words before we got married.

Hearing footsteps Vince turns around only to see the Doctor entering the room. Sidney just went and sits on the bed as the doctor attends to her. Looking on as he cleans the cut on her face, putting a few stitches, then he attends to her heel where the thorn pierce.

Hearing GP asking, "Why is the Doctor here?"

Walking out to the corridor hearing GP's concerns, "GP, the doctor is attending to Sidney but she will be all right, it's just a few bruises."

"Bruises, how did she end up getting hurt, did you hurt her?" Hearing how angry he was but Vince was even angrier because he think I will hurt her intentionally.

"No, I did not, and why it is every time she got hurt, you feel that I did it, now just relax?"

Seeing how quickly he advances up the stairs, "I didn't hear when you drive up son? So how long have you come home?"

"We just reach a little while and Sidney called the Doctor."

"Doctor, wills my child be, okay?"

Seeing his concern he replies, "She is fine, but she has lost a lot of blood, Vince will have to get these tonics for her as soon as possible, and my dear rest your foot."

"Thank you doctor for responding to my call so speedily, my foot really hurts."

"Don't worry, you should get some relief soon, I was just thinking since you join this family, this is my second visit, is everything okay? I only hope you are not lying to me?"

"I am sorry Doctor, it looks that way to you, but when my first accident happened, I didn't see the floor was wet, as I was about to enter the washroom I skid on the tiles, doc my shoes were new so it wasn't anyone fault. This new wound on my face happen yesterday, thank God for my husband's quick thinking or the truck would have crushed me to pieces, just like how our car was crushed.

And my foot, well I just didn't see the heap of thorns and I step on it by mistake, it was my carelessness really, if I had waited on my husband who wanted to carry me, I would have saved myself all this excessive pain, but thank you so much for being concern."

"Okay, but try and be careful next time, will you?" He said before leaving.

Noticing Vince looking at her, saying, "I promise to watch where I am going from now on."

"Vince, what Sidney just said, is that true, son?" GP asked seeing the worried frown on his face.

"Please GP, just relax we are safe, and tomorrow I will go to the insurance agency."

"I am not studying about the car; I am concerned about you, from what the child is saying both of you could have died."

Sidney close her eyes, as the words of grandpa soaked in once again, thinking at that time, 'How he was so angry but that didn't stop him from saving her, oh God.I could have been crushed to death.' Although her eyes were tightly closed and she turns so no one would see she was hurting, the tears seeps out.

Hearing him saying to GP, "GP, we are safe, I didn't get hurt, it was Sidney that got hurt and she needs to rest now, last night was very long and very trying for her, let me get Molly to bring up a tray for her, she hasn't eaten anything since yesterday."

"Yes Son, please hurry and gets her a meal." Vince notices when she brush the tears away but said nothing knowing she was hurting because he had pulled her hand without thinking. Yet she made excuse for him so no one will know the truth.

Watching them leave Sidney close her eyes recalling, "He had grabbed her hand so firmly, pulling her when her feet were pricked with the thorn, but as he said he forget I didn't have on my slippers. Oh Lord, I know I am angry with him for no good reason, but it hurts so much when he wanted to leave me then to top it off, he told me to fend for myself?"

Hearing him saying, "Sidney, I am really sorry for everything that happened, you are having so much pain because of me."

Thinking, 'When did he return, I thought he left the room?' Opening her eyes she just looks at him,

"Who cares, the important thing is, that I have learned that I cannot depend on others to take care of me. I have to do that for myself."

Watching him leave the room this time, as the door clicks behind him she get off the bed and removes the covering and then places a clean covering on the bed.

She then went and lie on the sofa, resting her foot on the hand rest so it was elevated, then close her eyes as she whispers her prayer of thanks for that couple who brought her straight home, giving Him thanks that the men did not hurt her and for Vince reaching on time. Giving Him thanks that we were not inside the vehicle when the truck smashed it. Oh Lord, I thank You, the pain is gone for now, and I am back home on my bed. I am tired so please help me to have a good rest tonight, Lord Jesus, amen."
