SIDNEY'S CONFUSION

When Haley said, "Sis, what happen to your hands?" Seeing her eyes open wide, Sidney smiled knowing she is always a curious child and nothing misses her eyes. Liking that about her knowing she is very observant and alert.

She is always awake when I am leaving for work, she remembers everything I wear to work and she cannot sleep without me on the bed.

I am worried more about her than mom and since she heard I was going to get married the last two times I used to always find her crying, but thank God that fear is gone and I have no plans of marrying now.

When Haley asks, "Sis, let me see how bad your hand is hurt?"

"Oh honey, I was in a slight accident while I was on my way home but I am okay now."

Seeing she came quickly next to her holding her hand, "I am alright, it is just a bruise sweetie." Sidney knew she cannot hide it with Haley speaking out a bit louder, now having no choice Sidney relates to the other family members what occurred and reassured them that she is fine.

Seeing all of their concerns when her mom asks, "Are you hurt bad Sid?"

"Mom, I am alright it's just a minor scratch." Noticing when her mom looks at her, Sidney sat near her trying to reassure her.

"I know you like to worry," shifting her skirt a little Sidney said, 'See for yourself, I am not lying for you and my hand just get a graze."

Sidney observed when her eyes were looking at the soil on her skirt, she was glad she had wiped away the majority of the blood so mom won't be worried.

"Honey, what happens?"

Sidney had no choice but to reassure her so she won't be so tense, "Mom, I was crossing Johnson Street when a vehicle brakes the street light and came rushing through.

The people behind me had to hurry, and in the rush to get away from the vehicle they bounce into me. That's all, no one was hurt badly and it wasn't anyone's fault."

Hearing George saying, "You always see things differently, if it was someone else they would be cussing up the person who push them."

"George, I was angry but it wasn't anyone's fault, and what sense it will make arguing or fussing. It was not I alone that fell, yes my knee got scrapped because I had on a skirt but as you all can see I am okay."

Stroking Haley, trying to comfort her, the fear of losing me give her nightmares.

Sidney recalls the incident but what was confusing the most was, 'Where was the peeling sound of bells coming from? I have walked that route every day going and coming from work and I never saw a church, I never heard a bell ringing so why all of a sudden was I hearing bells and it was so loud?'

Feeling so frustrated and the pain was intense, 'I need to clean the wound and apply medication.'Saying to the family whose eyes never left her face, all of them seem so concerned.

"Let me go and freshen up I am hungry, I just had a light lunch, and now I am famished."

Hurrying to her room she first took two painkillers.

Reaching home Vince's mind was on the young lady, recalling how she was covering her ear. 'I only hope she is okay, I know it wasn't anyone's fault but when she fell I can't recall if she get any lash because I was on the ground as well.

And where did she disappear to so quickly? When I only leave her for about ten minutes to go for the car.'

Hearing his grandfather calls out to him, Vince went straight to the library wanting to know why he was rushing him into this marriage "GP, what have you done?"

Seeing him sitting in the library. "I see you are home, Son? I was waiting for you; have you delivered my message?"

"Yes, I did, but what I want to know is why the rush for this marriage? And how is it you have learned of these people?"

Seeing him closing his eyes as though tired, "I just wanted to know if they got my message that's all? Tomorrow we will talk, now help me to my room please."

"Yes, GP, I give them your note." Observing how frail he was looking, knowing, 'This is why he agreed to this ridiculous arrangement anyhow. I can't believe he will fake his illness. He loves us too much to do that? I know now there is no turning back?'

Helping him to settle down. "I am going out this evening, we have a gig in a club tonight."

"Okay son, you have fun but just remember, when you get married all those late nights will have to stop."

"GP, you know this is my hobby and it helps me to relax after a hard day's work?"

"Son, I cannot bring someone's daughter into my house, to just watch the four walls."

"We will talk about this another time; I am getting late." Thinking, 'Because of the stupid accident all this is happening and now I am running late.'

Walking up to his room when Vanda approaches him, "Vince, we need to talk."

"Not now Vanda, I am getting late."

"It will just take a few minutes of your time."

"Vanda, please listen to me, I am getting late. I am sure whatever you have to say can wait until the morning?"

"We have to talk now Vince?"

"Okay, what is so important that you keep insisting?"

Vanda saw how angry he was wanting to know if something had happened earlier. He looks patientless, getting to what she stopped him to say before he walks away. "Vince, when I called Chrystal today, she told me you proposed to her, and she accepts your proposal. I just wanted to congratulate you, I am so happy for the two of you."

Hugging him when he holds her shoulder and steps backward at arm's length, saying, she sense anger as his eyes turn bloodshot. "Do I look like a fool? She turned me down two times and now GP has hooked me up to someone I don't even know, and now Chrystal accepts? What does she expect me to do? Jump every time she changes her mind, sorry Baby sister, I cannot do that this time."

"What are you saying, Vince?"
