A LOOPHOLE

Driving a few feet away from the curb, suddenly he saw the young lady in front of the car skipping across the road.

Mashing the brakes suddenly almost bouncing her as she hastens her footsteps avoiding my car and the impact that may have occurred."Where the hell did she appear from?"

She didn't even look up or stop, she just continues moving so swiftly as though she hasn't seen the vehicle coming, 'What is wrong with her, does she have a death wish?"

Realizing she was already crossing before he drive off, and it was his fault, he was so caught up with his thought he didn't take thought to look before pulling off from the street.

Seeing her walk down towards the same house he had just left, "Oh God, is this the person I am going to marry?"

"Her hair is black but I didn't get a good look at her face, good Lord, is GP going blind, or is he senile?"

Vince thought with a heavy heart, 'Why did I have to say yes to his demand? It has the two other boys, so why did he have to pick me?'

Hitting the steering wheel so angrily for being so weak and stupid, even for agreeing to this ridiculous arrangement.

Then suddenly he felt like his conscience was smeared, feeling this guilt knowing his grandfather never asked him for anything before.

'He was the one person who never allowed anyone or anything to hurt Vanda and me when my parents left us.

He stepped in and fill that gap and becomes our guardian, giving us all the love and care that we never had the chance to miss out on our parent's love and attention.'

Vince's mind went back to that particular day and what the Doctor's exact words were, it is still fresh in my mind as if he was standing right in front of him.

'That if he continues to be so tense, it could eventually lead to another heart attack, which will be worse than this recent one and might even cause death.'

'Could it be that the doctor has joined hands with GP, to force me to say yes, and is this his part to play to make it sound serious so I will give in to GP's demands?'

'Oh God, why is he so stubborn? His constant nagging and ridiculous taunting leave me no choice, and now I cannot say no, God, my life is going to be a living hell.'

Becoming aggrieved with his conscience and the present matter Vince drives straight to the office.

Frustration and disappointment seem to be his portion for the day, as he keeps thinking about the last month's heartache.

Entering his office he locked his door and then slumps down on his chair behind his desk.

With his eyes closed Vince decided, 'I must think of a plan quickly, I must find a way out from this predicament GP puts me in. If this is a plan he concocted to tie me down then I must find a way to get out, there must be a loophole somewhere?'

Vince wanted with all of his heart to avoid going home that evening, all because of the glaring and whispering from the family especially Carlos, Remmy, and their mother. 'They must all think that I am a fool to say yes to GP.'

Having no choice Vince knew it was still too early so he decided to call and confirm all arrangements for Saturday's delivery before he leaves the office instead of asking the assistant.

Meanwhile, at the Montrose home, George sits on the bed testing her mom's pressure, she noticed how pale her face was.

"Mom, you need to relax, I have been observing how tense you are since I return from work this morning, can you tell me why you are stressing out yourself so much?"

Hazel said with a bit of concern and a heavy heart, "Georgia, I have arranged your sister's wedding for next Saturday and I am just worried she might make a fuss."

"Oh my goodness Mom, Sid doesn't want to get married; so why have you accepted a proposal, and now look at you all stressed out? Mom, you are pushing her too fast and I don't like it." Georgia becomes concerned just hearing her mom's words.

"Look, George, she is already twenty-seven and you have already set your marriage date, what will people think when you get married and she is elder than you and still in my house?"

Without waiting for Georgia to respond Hazel continues knowing what Georgia will say, "Honey, they will all think there is a problem with her seeing that twice her marriage has been cancelled. Honey, this is good that Mr Montgomery wants this wedding quickly."

Georgia was so frustrated and anxious because of what her mom had done but her mom look so stressed out, if she said anything rashly it might bring more tension.

Stroking her mom back gently Georgia said, "Mom, with the two times her wedding has already fallen through, she will be broken if another occurs, Mom, we don't know these people?"

"George, we knew those that passed before, and just look at what they did to her, so what if we take a chance, who knows she might find love in this person?"

Georgia knew whatever she said her mom will have a plaster for it, she cannot win though matter what she said, "Mom, this is not a raffle, it is Sid's life we are talking about, you know she is so different from the rest of us, just suppose this wedding falls through she might be shattered once again?"

Georgia could not believe what her mom was saying, "Why would that happen, honey? especially when Mr Montgomery personally came promising that my child will be happy."

Becoming slightly angry for her stubbornness Georgia asks, "Have Mr Montgomery seen Sid before Mom? And Mom, I don't think there is anyone who could understand how Sid thinks?"
