4 4: Training Camp-2
Kenji walked todays the group of kids, he saw that they were tall for their ages but not as tall as him. His blue eyes felt like monsters eye to others calculating everything on sight . He reaches the group.
The kids were talking along themselves about the recently released games. Kenji wanting to join them, went next to them and sat down.
A familiar face was seen by Kenji, A tall black boy noticing him sit down, told the group of kids to be quiet. He was non other than
Ojiro Aran of Inarizaki High School.
"Hey, who are you? Are you new here" said another boy. Kenji listing that said
"Hii.., Yes.. I am new here, my name is Kenji Miyamoto. What about you guys?" said Kenji trying to fit in with them.
"Ohh.. your name is Kenji.. My name is Ojiro Aran. He is Kenta Miyamura.. Kajuki Ito.. Ryota Watanabe.. Yuuto Nakamura.."
Aron introduced his friend to Kenji.
Kenji smiled and they greated each other, they continued talking until a whistle was blown.
* Beep….
"Alright kids, gather up. Let's start our training camp" Ishikawa got the childrens to line you.
Kids muttering with each other from their excitement.
"Quiet down kids, For todays training we will focus on basic of volleyball like digging and passing." Ishikawa gaining the attention of the kids began the camp.
*After explaining the basic….
"I have explained you the basic now let's try and practise it by making a pair of two" Volleyball were given to each duo.
Everybody started to pass the ball and get a feel for it. Kenji and Aaron were paired up, they displayed good techniques and Ishikawa see things smile looking at them.
*15 minutes later…
"Now kids, rest for a bit and we are going to play some match to make you familiar with the game" Ishikawa signaling kids to sit down and drink some water.
After the kids finished resting. Ishikawa divided them into 3 Teams.
Team A, Team B and Team C. Kenji was in Team be with yuuto, friend from earlier and some other kids, Aron was on team A with Kenta.
"Let's start the game, first Team A and Team C are going to play."
Players got ready to play the games. Since they were just 4 years old they can't spike or block just passing the ball around.
The game started with Aron's team serving,
Aron got to the service line,
*beep…. boom…
A normal serve by Aron but the other team couldn't get the ball up giving them the first point and a service ace for Aron, It continued until 5 points, Aron serve was caught by the next.
The next teams served the ball and the game continued Team A were in the lead Team C just behind.
*7 minutes later…
*beep….
Team A: 14 ——— Team B: 11
Set point for Team A, Game end in 15 points since they were kids playing. Everyone was looking at the match as it got close to the end.
Aron was up to serve and got a sevice ace ending the game. Kenji analyzed the game and copied some moves espically Aron's serve.
"Next up, Team A vs Team B. Get ready kids you are up next!!" Ishikawa tell Kenji's team to go to the court.
Kenji finally getting to play, showing a wide smile in his face. Kenji entered the court and analyzed the players position. He fixed some of their positions for better coordination and balance.
Team A vs Team B
Kenji's team won the toss, Kenji came up to serve the ball, scanning the movements of Aron's previous serve, Kenji took a deep breath and served the ball.
*beep… breath… boom…..
The ball quickly got to other court, the speed was really fast catching Aron and his team of guard and scoring a service ace. Cheers from the audience and teammates surrounded the gym.
Although it was just a normal serve, the speed and power is uncommon in this age.
"Nice serve Kenji-Kun.. One more" Yuuto shouted
Kenji grinned looking at the opponents reaction and his new serve, even Ishikawa was shocked by the serve.
Kenji again served the ball but with a little less power, Aron tried to receive the ball but it bounced of his hand and went out.
*Beep…
Team A: 0 ————- Team B: 2
The match continued with another serve by Kenji but this time Aron got the ball up,giving a perfect receive to his setter and their team scored the point.
It continued back and fourth, both team playing at a high level for their age.
Team A: 12 ————— Team B: 14
Set point for Kenji's team, It was Aron's serve if they wanted to come back they had to score this point. Kenji knowing that heightened all his sense's coupled with his previous experience he was a experienced master between kids.
Aron took deep breadths, scanning best placement to score the points. He saw a opening at the right corner.
* breath… beep… click.. boom
Aron served the ball at the right corner of the court, the ball seemed to go out but Kenji noticed the spin and curve, dived to get the ball just barely.
Bing…
'Shit!! What a nasty serve Aron' Kenji thought.
The ball returned to Aron's side, Aran received it perfectly to the setter who set a ball for him.
Aron despite being a 4 yrs old with his height he could perform the spike, Aron approached to spike the ball, Kenji see Aron approaching go ready to receive the ball.
*click..click…. boom… BANG!!
Aron spiked the ball as hard as he can, but Kenji was ready,he perfectly received the ball to Yuuto his setter, Yuuto gave a high set for Kenji.
Kenji gathered up his breath and locates the ball,
'A high set for me to gather my breath huh… you really know setting Yuuto' Kenji thought.
He took 4 steps back looking at the ball, he went for his approach his arms formed into the shape of wings and jumped, soaring higher and higher, his head over the net and spiked the ball.
*click… click… click… boom….. BAAM!!!!
*Beep...
Audience were shocked from his jump and power, even Ishikawa didn't expect that.
'This kid always surprises me, first the serve then receive and now the spike. He is gonna be a problem in the future"Ishikawa thought.
Team A: 12 ———-Team B:15
Winner: Team B
Cheers is heard all throughout the court .
Kenji's teammates piled up on him, all enjoying sweet taste of victory.
Kenji smiles and celebrates with his team...…
