RAGING IN JEALOUSY

Kiaraa blinked, she bit her lip, and then blinked again. Her stern eyes gradually lowered to the floor as she fought with her brain to come up with a perfect answer.

"Don't even think of lying, I know how you look like when you lie," Adrian remarked and Kiaraa almost had the urge to pull on her hair. She didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. She just met him a few weeks ago, then somebody explain to her how he knows so much about her.

"My sister made a mistake this morning and I needed help," she replied, her statement was vague but she didn't feel the need to disclose the whole issue to him.

Adrian continued staring down at her but didn't utter a single word. He was satisfied inwardly that the first person she thought of when she was in trouble was him but her vague statement only implied that she didn't trust him yet.

She stared up at him and pouted, seeing his poker-faced expression, she exhaled sharply and rolled her eyes. "Ok fine, I'll tell you everything.

"In order to keep my identity hidden from some people, I hired a look-alike and assigned more than half of my bodyguards to her but this morning I accidentally walked into my sister's livestream and a lot of her fans saw me.

Although, I deleted it immediately but I still need more bodyguards to protect myself in case anything happens and the only rich person I could think of who probably has bodyguards is you. So in order to keep me safe, I need to stay with you for a while until the whole situation dies down."

She spoke hurriedly and after her lengthy explanation, the only reply she got was a nod. She could feel anger building up inside her at his nonchalance. Wasn't he the one who asked? Then he should at least show some concern, but she controlled herself with the thought that she really needed his help today.

She clenched and unclenched her fists repeatedly to calm her raging temper before finally looking up at him and a smile formed on her face as she linked her small hands with his and dragged him out of the restaurant.

When they stepped out of the restaurant, the smile on her face gradually faded when she could only find a black sedan parked on the other side of the road.

She stared at the man beside her and blinked, "Where are your bodyguards? Don't tell me you're also stubborn like me and refused to take bodyguards with you."

Instead of replying, he stared down at their linked hands and a peculiar warmth spread across his chest as he reveled in the sensation of her soft, small hands in his. He looked at her cute face still trying to search for his bodyguards and her frown grew more definite.

"It's a good thing you know you're stubborn," he said and the look she threw him was scorching.

"This is not the time to chit chat about my behavior. So you didn't bring any bodyguards with you?" she asked and the expression on her face became desolate. She looked up at him with her deep amber eyes and blinked expecting him to give her a reply.

Adrian stared at her mesmerizing eyes for a long time and he wondered how those beautiful, twinkling eyes could spill out glares like fireballs whenever she was enraged.

Realizing that he has been staring at her for a long time, he quickly averted his gaze and turned his head to look forward.

"Where are your guards, Mr. Kim?" she asked again with her voice a little bit firm, and Adrian's visage became deadly. The warmth in his heart was immediately replaced by a cold storm when he heard her calling him Mr. Kim.

"They are everywhere," he replied coldly and dragged her towards the car.

Kiaraa looked dismayed for a second. What brought about the abrupt change in his mood? Was he on his period or something?

She also wanted to ask about what he meant by his guards being everywhere but when she looked at his cold expression, she immediately swallowed back her question and quietly followed him towards the car.

When they got to the door, he opened the door of the back seat and she slowly entered and then he banged the door shut harshly which made her to jerk slightly out of shock.

He walked to the other side of the car and also entered. The driver immediately started the car and the whole car was engulfed in a deep silence.

Kiaraa swept her gaze from the iceberg sitting beside her who was reading a file to the young driver at the front. The silence felt uncomfortable and she pondered deeply on who to start a conversation with. After contemplating for a while, she decided to talk to the driver instead since he looked less stoic than the person sitting beside her.

"Uhm driver," she called out with a smile and the young man turned towards her a bit with his eyes still fixated on the road.

"How may I help you young miss?" he asked politely with a small smile and Kiaraa felt that the heavy fog in the atmosphere had disappeared.

"Oh, please drop the formalities, you can call me miss Lee or just Kiaraa if you like," she stated cheerfully with the smile on her face broadening unknowingly to her that a certain someone sitting beside her was drowning in vinegar.

Adrian stared at her cheerful expression for some time and his eyes narrowed to slit. He watched as she excitedly conversed with his driver and he could feel countless volcanoes exploding in his head.

He was raging in jealousy. He stared down at the files in his hands but no matter how much he tried, not a single word could register in his head.

After some time, when he felt that he couldn't take it anymore, he finally looked up and sent icy glares at the driver. "Raise the partition," he ordered, his voice came out more chilling than he expected.

The driver gulped, he knew he had dug his own grave by conversing with his lady boss but what could he do? If he didn't reply to her then it would make her angry which would, in turn, make his boss angry so either way his neck would still be cut off. He felt frustrated as he was caught in the cold war of two devils.

On getting the command, he expeditiously raised the partition leaving his two bosses to their own world.

Kiaraa slumped her back on the chair before crossing her arms across her chest with a disgruntled look. This time, it was her turn to throw glares and she did it with full vigor and intensity.

Noticing her glare, Adrian felt a little down casted but he immediately masked it with his usual poker face expression.

"Where do you want to go?" he asked while flipping the files in his hands casually ignoring the glares that were being thrown at him by the little woman beside him.

"Anywhere you're going," she replied back with a hint of annoyance in her tone and Adrian just nodded at her. He stared at the two invitation cards by the side of the door and shook his head.

He realized everything in an instant. Li Shen really planned everything well, he probably knew that the man with her was her bodyguard and somehow after meeting her here two invitations magically popped up in his car.

He wondered who was actually the fox. Was it Kiaraa or Li Shen? because in just a span of a few hours they both of them had both played him like a pawn in a chess game.

"Do you mind going to a party?" he turned towards her and she shook her head while playing with her phone.

"I don't mind, but I have to get changed first," she replied shortly and thought for a moment, "I think there should be Crystelle outlet around here," she mumbled to herself before looking up to him.

"Please tell your driver to take me to Sparkline mall, that's one of the partnering malls of Crystelle, I'll get a dress there," she said and stared back down at her phone.

Adrian nodded a little and picked up his phone to make a call. "Relocate all my meetings to Hotel la Flores," he said abruptly and cut the call before sending a message to the driver.

Moments later, they arrived at a huge mall and Kiaraa was about to open the door when his voice stopped her.

"I'm coming with you."

She turned to him with a fake smile. "I know you're worried that I might get lost but I am not a child and this is not a playground either so there's no way I'll get lost, I can easily find my way around here." She finished her statement quickly and dashed out of the car.
