Guardians: Secret of the Core

Loid was a lion king, a beast spirit, someone whose cold red eyes could petrify even the strongest of his opponents. He brought the doom of his kingdom. His land and people perished away and along with them, his pride and spirit. In the pit of the darkness that had engulfed him, he met Rin; a young human with eyes as blue as the flames that he created. Blunt, sarcastic and unreasonable. That mage had a charmingly cold personality, and Loid was about to find out what secrets he was keeping in his guarded heart. ............. "He has sworn to protect her...his love..." Loid's could not keep the hurt from showing on his face; his eyes never leaving his sleeping master "...and I'm nothing but a mean for him to do that, Thor." He lifted his hand but did not dare to touch Rin. Instead, he curled up his fingers, and let out a chuckle that had no hint of humor in it. "What a cursed fate I have!" He slammed his fist into the wall. "Here I am with her very core within my body, but I'm not her." He shook his head. "I'm not the one he searches for, Thor. I could never be." .............. "They are already dead. I'd rather end their misery."

End their misery?

Loid looked up at the magestic bird holding Rin.

What would he have done in that situation? He smiled, shaking his head. He didn't need to think about it. He already knew the answer.

BLEEDING CLAWS.

His nails got bigger and sharper, their color turning darker than a moonless night. Crimson patterns wrapped themselves around his arms and he cracked his knuckles before pouncing at the nearest creature.

He delivered a single blow to the side of its neck and its rotting head went flying into the sky, landing yards away from the body.

Was it finished? His unspoken question was answered by the glow of those two orbs in its chest. Loid watched as that body vaporized right before his eyes, the cores left hovering behind in the air.

"Don't lose them!", Thor cried, stabbing his spear into a body and pulling out the bloodstained orbs with his bare hands. He threw them up into the sky, Runa instantly grabbing them into her beak along with ten other. The bird dived abruptly, grabbing the balls in front of Loid and soaring high into the night sky.

'Magnificent.'

Loid thought, his long hair fluttering in the gust of the wind created by those snow white wings of the bird spirit.

They continued their job; killing the undead beings and gathering their cores.

"There's no end to these bloody creatures!", Thor said, his back against Loid's and honey gold eyes narrowed at the countless bodies that kept coming from behind the trees. Pushing his white hair back from his sweaty forehead, he extended his arm, the tip of his spear glowing bright yellow.

"FIRST FORM: LIGHTNING BOLT."

A lightning bolt. It came out of nowhere and struck the middle of that clearance, the impact creating powerful shock waves. Loid covered his face with his arm, the ground trembling violently under his feet. Blinking the dirt away from his eyes, he looked over at Thor and he was astonished. No. He was awestruck.

They were standing inside a large crater, hundreds of glowing cores hovering over the ashes of those undead beings.

And that was his first form? Loid felt excitement rushing through his veins. He must not let that boy's power outshine his.

Loid bent his knees and jumped in the air, pouncing at the bodies like the lion he was. A single blow was enough to end them. Despite their annoyingly large number, they were considerably fragile.

Punching right through their chests, bending their necks like twigs, burying his claws into their necks and pulling off their heads. Loid continued the massacre, the orbs eventually piling up around him.

"What kind of a monster are you?", Thor said to the lion beast, tossing away the head of his own prey.

Loid raised an eyebrow,"I could ask the same from you."

Thor smirked,"You haven't seen anything yet. They seem to have stop coming now."

Thor picked up his cape which he had abandoned at the beginning of that 'clean up' and held it over his shoulder. Loid's claws retracted, the patterns on his arms vanishing with a red spark. Looking up at Rin, he frowned. Why hadn't he regained consciousness yet?

"He'll be asleep for a while longer. What made him go berserk?"

"I don't know. H-"

He held his breath, eyes going wide when he felt a warm breath brushing the skin of his nape. Thor jumped away from him, summoning his spear again.

"I really hate distractions", a whisper sounded in Loid's ear.

'Move, Loid. Move.'

But his body wouldn't listen to him. The presence behind him was just too strong. Sweat trickled down his temple.

The man whispered,"That brat! He broke my nose. I'm gonna rip off his arms and-"

A punch landed into the man's abdomen and he went flying with the force behind it. His back hit a tree before he fell down on the hard ground. He lifted his head to find Loid standing right in front of him, his crimson eyes still and a shade darker. Pure bloodlust radiated from his body.

"I'll kill you before you touch him!",he said in a tone that made a shiver run down the man's spine.

He threw another punch. That man bent over and avoided getting hit. He jumped away, grinning widely,"Oh, did I touch a sore spot?"

The man raised his hands over his head, a black magic circle forming over him. There was a flash of bright light and the man morphed; a scorpion sting came out of his back ripping his black kimono and the bandages no longer covered his body.

Thor grabbed Loid by his shoulder before he could recklessly pounce at that freak again,"Snap out of it! Do you have a death wish?"

Loid snarled. How dare that bastard threaten Rin.

'I will kill him!'

Thor smacked the back of his head,"I said snap out of it! We need to get out of here!"

"I can't let you do that, boy!"

Thor flexed his arms in front of his face, a fist smashing into them. His spear fell to the ground and he buried his feet into the ground to counter the shower of punches constantly falling on him.

Loid pounced at the man but he disappeared into thin air.

"Too slow!"

Loid was kicked from behind and he went flying into the trees, breaking their trunks as he flew halfway through the forest.

"Bloody bastard!", Thor cried, lightning engulfing his fists and legs. He bent his knees, ground splitting open under his feet. He jumped into air, hiding the moon behind his back.

SECOND STANCE: FLASHING STORM.

Strong wind whirled around the two of them and Thor pounced at the man who dodged it by a mere tilt of his head. He grinned, holding Thor by the back of his shirt and swinging the boy around before throwing him into the sky.

Thor cursed seeing the ground getting larger and large under him as he fell down. He covered his face with his arms, ready for the impact.

The bird came diving, catching her master on her back. Thor gave out a sigh of relief, feeling the softness of her feather under his aching body.

"Thanks, Runa. I'll-"

He gasped and looked down at the tip of the spear piercing right through his abdomen.

"Bullseye!", the blonde man whistled from the ground.

"Bloody... bastard", Thor pulled the spear out and Runa faded from underneath him.

He reached out for Rin with his bloody hands and pulled him into his arms as they fell down.

'This is going to hurt.'
