63 Open House

After the ax was ready, I felt some relief. I was ready for the next attack. This time I can meet Kaiju right at the exit of the portal.

Although this may be the wrong decision. This world is not some RPG game where the enemy acts according to the script. If you arrive with level 100 to the beginner location, you will feel almighty. But In the real world, if the enemy sends main troops to a weakly defended part of the front, you also send reinforcements there.

By this logic, if a hero with level 100 were to come to a beginner location, that location should immediately turn into a hardcore zone. (Interesting concept for games, don't even think of using this without my permission!)

If the aliens see me standing at the exit of the portal and killing all the Kaiju, they will surely figure out how to fight it.

"Damn it!" At such moments I felt as if my hands were tied.

"But why should I adapt to them and be afraid to raise the stakes! Even if they invent something new, it shouldn't bother me. What can they do that they haven't already done? The main thing is that even if this strategy works only once, it will save a lot of people." With such thoughts, I decided to work a little more near the volcano.

A lot of bricks have been damaged lately and I also wanted to expand the island, but that requires a lot of new bricks. To make them, you need to wait half a month for the lava to harden in the brick molds.

Sticking my ax into the ground, I began putting together brick molds and pouring lava into them. I wasn't going to work long, I just filled the molds with lava.

"I have no idea how the aliens will handle the fact that I'll be waiting for the Kaiju at the entrance to the portal! The only thing they can do is run away from me, but I can go back to the island and take my jetpack to catch up with the Kaiju." Before, I was afraid to think about such actions. But now I'm the size of Godzilla. I have fire breath and improved spiked armor. And finally, I have a weapon!

A few days later, I finished pouring lava into the brick molds. Enough blanks were made to extend the island by 100 meters (320 ft) on one side (sizes are approximate, he did not have a ruler with him).

Picking up the ax, I swam back to my island. It was not convenient to swim with an ax. She was big and weighed like half a battleship. Where did the other half of the battleship go? Lost in the ocean while working...

The best decision turned out to be to take the ax in the teeth. It was still a good option to hold the ax with your tail, but the tail helped a lot while swimming, so holding the ax with it was even worse than holding it in your hand.

POV: Mr. Smith

I got a call from Raleigh saying that Torterra had woken up and wanted to continue looking for gold. After we found sunken gold in a Spanish ship, I became very famous in the world. For six months, I continued to receive requests for interviews. Even my lectures at Oxford University became much more popular. Each time I gathered full audiences of pupils what wants to hear about maritime archaeology.

We were fortunate that the Jaegers were solely under the control of Mr. Pentecost (Marshall). After all, not only Torterra could dive deep enough and raise sunken ships from the bottom of the ocean. Jaegers could do it too. But diving into the ocean was not enough. The gold had to be founded, and Torterra could somehow do it.

I thought he would be looking for the right ship for months, but he did it very quickly. No Jaeger could surpass him in this, but no one knew that, and everyone thought that if they became pilots of the Jaegers, they would be able to get rich... Children...

My university teaching turned from a job into a hobby. I got enough money from the gold Torterra found. I was offered 10 percent, but I limited myself to 1 percent and another 0.1 percent from the auction sale. This money is enough to keep me and my family from working for the rest of my life.

After packing up, I took another leave from university and said goodbye to my wife and children. This time Raleigh flew for me, so by evening I was on the other side of the planet. Amazing aircraft. It is a pity that the oil magnates did not allow this technology to spread. If this new fuel goes on sale, many countries will simply go bankrupt. But I don't think that progress can be held back for long. Sooner or later, the benefit will override any prohibitions.

I arrived just in time to see Torterra emerge from the ocean. His every step caused me admiration. These were the best moments of my life after getting married and having children. He was powerful and this time he changed. His armor changed and spikes appeared on the sides of his body. His tail also got bigger. But the ax surprised me the most.

The ax was metal and looked very rough. The metal was twisted and covered in bumps and dents. There was no shiny and beautiful metal. The ax was black, and even the blade was black and had a spikes instead of a sharp edge.

Torterra, as always, epically climbed out of the ocean and laid the ax against the wall. The stone floor cracked under the weight of the ax… I was certain that Jaeger would not have been able to pick up the weapon, let alone use it.

The Titan calmly went to his room and sat there, thinking about something. No one wanted to bother him. Even I decided to wait until tomorrow to search for gold. But everything changed when a helicopter landed on the island and Miss Yun ran out.

"Why wasn't I called earlier? I missed his first jetpack flight!" I also saw the footage that was taken by the island workers a few days ago. It was impressive but quality of the footage resembled the Loch Ness Monster footage.

Miss Yoon's presence immediately started to annoy people. Torterra asked that no one else be allowed on the island without his knowledge, but since she had already met him, she could visit the island. Despite her reportі-hungry nature, she was not a bad person, and for the public we needs to report well on our Titan.

Every good video lifts people's spirits and gives them hope. The hope that the world council is trying to restore by starting to build "The Wall of Life".

A few hours later, while Yun and I were occupying our rooms, another plane arrived on the island. Mr. Pentecost got out of it and he immediately headed for Torterra.

"Stop! Don't go there. I think it's beyond our capabilities." I stopped Yun when she wanted to run to Marshall and interview him.

"But why? Nothing will happen to him if I ask a few questions."

"Look at him. He's heading towards Torterra and not even his men are following him. I think what he wants to discuss with Torterra something very important. They shouldn't be disturbed. If he stays at the base after the conversation, then you can approach to him without causing trouble."

"I guess you're right." After a pause, she changed the subject, "Did you see the ax that Oppa made? That's so brutally!"

POV: Marshal

After 6 months since the appearance of the Clone, Marshal finally managed to meet with Torterra. He finished his business and immediately flew to the island to discuss the issues that were bothering him. Given the situation, he tried to do it secretly, although it was almost impossible.

The island was huge, so he asked to land the plane at the entrance to Torterra's house. After ordering his men not to let anyone in, he headed towards his friend.

The big guy just sat in the corner of the room and stared at Marshall. With a watchful eye, he followed Marshal all the way to him.

"Long time no see," Marshall said, and Torterra nodded in response.

"I need to discuss the situation with your Clone with you."

"Who ordered the Jaeger to attack me during the fight with the Clone?" Torterra asked a question that puzzled the Marshal. What attack was he talking about? They had little information about what happened in the middle of the city, because the city was burning and black smoke covered everything up to the sky. Their drones saw nothing.

"I didn't know you were attacked by a Jaeger. I think it's the world council. They knew you would destroy the lab, so they decided to take you out. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. The actions of the world council are really strange. They're cutting the budget of the Jaeger program. Their plan is to make clones and build a great wall around the Pacific Ocean."

"Will they keep making clones?" Torterra asked.

"I don't think they'll give up. In their eyes, the Clone was a success and its combat power was worth the money they put into the project."

"Fools! No one can control the Titans."

This answer puzzled Marshall. Did he say Titans? Are there others like him?

"Are you saying there are others like you?"

"I do not know."

After these words there was silence.

"Remember when you said that aliens can affect people's minds. I think that might be true. The actions of the world council are really strange. I wouldn't have come to this conclusion if they just tried to clone you and build walls around big cities, but building a wall around the Pacific Ocean is crazy. They will destroy everything with this decision. And what's even more amazing is that people support this idea." Marshal was surprised that people supported this idea. He was a good soldier and commander, not a politician.
