Tower

Congratulations on building your first building with the help of Grimuar's magic. Given your humble circumstances, I am going to reward you for providing me with my first large amount of crystals.

[The building, a wooden knight's tower, has been converted into a stone-wooden knight's tower.]

As soon as Aron read these words, an exact image of the hill and buildings on it appeared on the parchment.

[Choose a location for your building]

Without hesitation, Aron chose the empty spot at the top of the hill. Without wasting time, he approved the location and, despite feeling weak, he slowly got out of bed and went outside.

All the residents stopped what they were doing and looked at the tower that was rising in front of their eyes.

"Gods?!" "Magic!!" could be hear from several places.

Before their eyes, the building was literally materializing out of thin air. The foundation and the first floor of stones joined with mortar were already done after less than a minute. The next floor of wood and roof were constructed even faster by invisible magical hands. Everything was accompanied by the sounds of invisible hammers and saws on wood.

After 5 minutes, the tower stood on the edge of the hill and looked at the lake, the peninsula, and the surrounding forest. The foundation and the first floor were built of stones. The stone walls reached a height of more than 4 meters from the ground. Inside, light could enter through single, small arrow slits.

However, the stone part was not the main part of the tower. The tower could only be accessed by stairs protected by a roof, which led directly to the wooden part on the second floor.

Although the tower had only two floors, the wooden overhang from the stairs was over 5 meters high and the roof itself reached a height of 9 meters. Additionally, the location on top of the hill made the tower seem larger than it actually was.

Aron, not wasting time, unstable and barely able to stand, slowly walked up the stairs. The residents, who were still staring in awe at the tower, made way for him.

All the residents who witnessed this event looked at the new building with fear, but seeing their lord walk in without hesitation, they determined that it must be Grimuar's doing.

When Aron reached the terrace at the top of the stairs, his eyes were met with a view of the lake and the peninsula, which was painted in beautiful colors in the light of the setting sun.

The doors to the tower were made of hard wood with copper elements and presented the first challenge if the defenders in advance did not manage to destroy the stairs. They presented solid craftsmanship, and with a stron push, they opened inside.

The interior, as well as the tower itself, was not large. In a few minutes the young man checked the whole thing.

The first room that greeted every guest was a quite spacious hall in the corner of which were stairs that led, most likely, to the ground floor. To Aron's surprise, the whole room was simply furnished. Nice addition of few scissor chairs and a rectangular table in the middle formed a modest dining room or meeting room.

There were four doors from the hall. One led to a bay window, two led to small rooms with only simple beds, and the last one led to the largest bedroom with a large double bed, a desk, and a chair.

The stone ground floor was divided into six rooms. Four very small rooms with simple beds, a kitchen with a stove that, in addition to cooking, also heated the upper floor, and a storage room with a trapdoor to the basement that consisted of two small rooms. The basement can be used as a prison or pantry.

As Aron checked his entire tower, he smiled from ear to ear. Finally, as a true lord, he has his own tower, his own home. A place where he and his subjects can take shelter. Although it's not large, with the destruction of the stairs, everyone can sit safely on an inaccessible floor to the enemy. From above, they will be able to throw everything they find at hand on the enemy.

In addition to its defensive function, the tower also served as the administrative center. It was from here that the most important decisions will be made and it was where Aron's closest court members would reside.

The tower became more than just a physical structure, it was a symbol of hope and unity for the people. It provided protection and represented a powerful leader who ruled over them. With its prime location atop a hill and the magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding area, the tower was the focal point of the in this foreset and impressed all who laid eyes on it.

As Aron surveyed the tower's interior, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Meanwhile, the villagers quickly regained their composure and began to take the tower's sudden appearance in stride. They knew that their lord had a habit of surprising them and they had grown used to it. However, one man ran up the hill, shouting:

"The tower! The tower! You really created it out of thin air! My lord, you are amazing!"

He charged up the stairs and onto the hoard where Aron was standing. Still slightly out of breath, he asked: "Can I live in it?"

Aron laughed and replied, "Of course, you can. You are my squire,so take one of the rooms. But the biggest one with the double bed is mine. And since you're already here, you can take the first watch on the tower. From this vantage point, we'll have a great view of the surrounding area and we'll be able to respond to threats much more quickly."

Without waiting for a response, Aron returned to the tower, leaving the squire to grumble to himself as he descended the stairs.

"Why do I always have to have first watch? What was the point of rushing up here? But at least I'll be able to live in the tower."

When Aron was about to descend from the tower to bring all his belongings, saw a group of his subjects at the stairs who had already brought his possessions.

"As soon as I saw this tower, I thought you could use some help, so I and the others brought the rest of your things. I hope you don't mind," said Morris, bowing slightly towards the young knight.

"Thank you, I was just about to go get them myself. I really appreciate the help. Take them upstairs to the biggest room, I'll take care of the rest myself," Aron replied.

"My lord, I must object. You are still recovering and it is not fitting for you to handle everything alone! Let us take care of it. And considering the size of the tower and taking care of your needs, I suggest that Mirena becomes your personal maid. You have us and you don't have to do everything yourself," Morris said.

"Alright, Morris. Fine, Mirena can sleep in one of the smaller rooms on the ground floor. You can too. I'll need someone in the tower besides Bron." Aron said with a sigh and a light smile, patting Morris on the shoulder.

"It will be my honor" replied Morris

The move in didn't take long, considering that Aron didn't have many belongings. By dusk, Bron, Mirena, and Morris had settled in without any problems. The three of them each took a small room on the ground floor. No one was surprised that Bron tried the hare next to Aron bedroom. But Morris stopped him. After a simple dinner in the hall, Aron went to his bedroom which would also be his office in the future.

One more time, he looked out the window where he saw his subjects preparing for sleep. "The tower alone won't protect them... I needs more warriors. But it is not everything I also need to become stronger..." Aron thought and undressed for bed. Without wasting time, he was already in a comfortable bed, slowly drifting off to sleep.

But before he fell asleep, he heard the sound of doors opening...
