Chapter 65: Clash Of Kings Part 3

Trals danced with the revenant, fending off a cascade of lighting-flash blows. Dodging, feinting, lashing out with accelerated hands, but never connecting. Rain and glowing warning signs clogged his vision. Trals sprang backward, a dark rainbow of muddy water arcing between him and his mindless enemy. For the first time in his life, Trals needed time during a battle to think.

He landed, slid, stopped himself with a clawed hand thrust through the mud to the solid grond beneath. Chris's paarsoot slogged slowly towards him, steam twisting from its cavern of a face and the winglike extensions down its back. It was a far better fighter than Chris had been.

Trals ducked under another deadly blow, sent his own at the devil's face. It caught his wrist, bringing a spike-tipped elbow up to puncture his brain. He ducked backward, and the other enormous hand caught his shoulder and ripped Trals off his feet.
