"I don't trust him." Mark told Bash later that evening after he had done all his court mandated duties and they had come back from swimming.

"What's the alternative? He tells Mercy what you were talking about with the girls?" Bash asked, slowing his steps as they came closer to Levi's classroom.

"What if he just tells Mercy everything anyway? What if he already told Mercy? Or what if he is part of..." Mark stopped himself from continuing.

"Part of?" Bash asked.

"Listen. I'm going to explain everything to you and Riley that I can, but later." Mark said, turning to face him.

"If it's dangerous, you're making us fight enemies with blindfolds on." Bash scolded him, adjusting his backpack.

"I realize that, but you realize it's dangerous if I tell the wrong people OR if the wrong people hear, like Levi." Mark scoffed, "I'm tired of this conversation."

"And Riley and I are tired of being in the dark." Bash said in exasperation.
