Trash Novel (2)

The day I decided to publish a new book on Imperial Path.

"Planning and everything is alright, but I think I should just write something trash."

I still had the belief that it wasn't going to work. Anyone would prefer something that was more thought out than something that just follows trash tropes, right?

In fact, I don't think I can even write something that is completely based on tropes. But if I am going to have fun with it, I might as well just write something like that.

That is what seems to sell in any case.

[You should give anything a try, host. It is necessary to try out everything.]

"Tsk. You are one to talk. For a system, you have barely helped me with the writing itself."

The system window slightly shook, as if it were laughing at my words. How rude.

[Don't you remember where you stand as an author? Right on the streets, trampled beneath someone's feet. At least reach the floor and I'll properly start teaching you.]

It wasn't wrong. In the end, despite being someone who is writing, I was not really at the starting line as an author.

Let alone an amateur, I was just slightly better than someone who only dreams of being an author. If I stopped here, I would fall right back on the street, waiting to be trampled underneath someone's feet.

If it is just trying. I think I can do it with a light heart.

Thinking so, I pulled up a text editor.

I had learned my lesson to not write on the site itself, so I used Docs to have an autosave at every moment.

Taking it seriously would just go against the plan.

I clicked on the title and put in the first long-winded thing that came to mind.

Come to think of it, this system guy was really useless these days. I was getting angry.

Hm.

Hm Hm…

How about some slander? It did tell me that satire seems to do well. Though the current niche was cultivation, all of them still had some system aspect to it.

Webnovels and Systems always went hand in hand.

Clacks rang out as I started typing on the keyboard.

I could see a fun, trash story playing out in my head.

{Becoming the Strongest Hunter with a Useless System}

[Hello!?]

"Shut it. This is just some fun!"

I was going to go wild.

I quickly started right away. The scene was simple. It was going to be set in a futuristic modern society with the presence of gates and dungeons, and naturally, hunters. Just like all those Korean Novels that I had read.

The main character. It was quite common to start from a complete rags story, and I was not going to abandon that thought. I planned to make the main character someone who could never become a hunter.

But he wasn't going to be useless. He was instead going to be a hyper-cool guy that even hunters acknowledged. Not as someone with powers and fighting prowess but for his intellectual capability alone.

A rational, cold, aloof guy with the wits of a sage and the intelligence of a supercomputer.

This super cool guy was going to find his sister struggling in school and his mother on her deathbed, all his money going to her hospital fees.

And right then, when this cool aloof guy starts losing hope, he ends up with a system that can make him a hunter!

Except! Except!

{Hunter Test Result: Worst Grade}

"Hah! Now what will you do!?"

[Low blow host. Low blow. Heck, are you self-inserting?]

"You think? I am not! I know I can't be a cool guy like that, I am more of the friendly type right?"

I lied as naturally as I breathed. This was a self-insert.

I was finding this strangely fun!

With a slightly open mouth that would attract mosquitoes and a posture that would send fitness enthusiasts straight to mental hospitals, I kept tapping away at the keyboard.

Before I knew it, the sun started to set outside and the one sentence of trash that I had planned to write ended up as 12 chapters of a starting arc.

It was already late.

With my fingers and eyes hurting, I leaned back on my chair and yawned. The slight grin on my lips was stuck in place.

"That was fun… I think in the next chapter I will introduce a female lead."

The MC goes wild as soon as he gets his powers, finding the people who were bullying his sister. Even those guys would be prospective hunters that were stronger than him, but not wiser.

There were three fight scenes in twelve chapters, but it was fun to write.

Thinking of it again, there was no part where my MC lost, there were a lot of spelling mistakes and quite a few awkward sentences.

When I scrolled through it again, I cringed a little. I couldn't even figure out what I wanted to convey with some lines.

In the end, though, the plan was never to take it seriously. For all I knew, I would never write this book again.

"Let's make a cover."

[Don't steal an image]

Right right, I wasn't going to do that. Maybe an AI image? But those kinda sucked, they all looked the same.

I decided to use a simple cityscape as the image, opened a simple image editor on the web, and added the title.

I emphasized the words 'Strongest', 'Hunter', 'Weakest', and 'System.'

It looked pretty alright.

"Let's go with this!" I nodded and uploaded the cover. With each chapter I posted, Grammarly handled the spelling mistakes. Unfortunately, even real computers couldn't process the weird sentences.

So I left those alone.

After cooking up a quick description and selecting tags, I uploaded it on Imperial Path, and off it went for approval.

"Haah! I am tired now…"

[Me too.]

"You didn't even do anything, useless system."

[Watch it, I hold grudges.]

We both cackled—I mean I hope the system did too—and started running downstairs.

"Mom! What's for dinner?!"

The night passed by in peace. I didn't look at the computer again as I plopped straight to sleep.

And when I woke up.

Overnight, the book had surpassed all the comments that Reversal had received in its lifetime.

And…
