29 Imperial Path (2)

Oversleeping on the weekends was not a choice. It was something that just happened.

There was no reason for one to shame themselves even if they overslept on the weekend and woke up all groggy and annoyed and regretful that they couldn't work early in the morning.

I was totally not saying this to forgive myself. Absolutely not.

I wiped my eyes in front of the mirror and brushed my teeth.

"Edward!" My mom called from below. "I've left your breakfast on the table, don't let it go cold!"

To be honest, I had snoozed my alarm a couple of times.

Even now, instead of turning my computer on, I instead rushed down to the dining room and ate.

My parents were busying themselves with work.

[You aren't checking if your book got approved?]

I had received an email already. It did get approved.

That was the problem.

My overnight success. Did it happen? It probably did. Of course it did. Reversal was a damn good book, after all.

Maybe…

I quickly finished my breakfast, cleaned the dishes, put on an apron and rushed into the back of the studio.

"I'll help!"

"Oh, we need all the weekend hands. Can you make handle the Ganache and the Whipped Cream?"

"Got it!"

I helped in the back, and then the front as well, eventually, my mom kicked me out of the shop to go 'study for a change.'

I wasn't paying attention to my studies at all since I started writing. Paying some attention in class and chatting with Ray had helped me keep my grade up in the random quizzes, but I couldn't be sure of tests.

And honestly, I didn't mind it. It was more important to write.

[Host. Check your novel]

"Actually, mom is right. I should study now and then."

[Haah…]

I picked out my coursebooks from my bag and started flipping through them.

They were boring.

In the end, I dropped the book too and looked at my computer.

The overnight success.

[Are you scared or something?]

"No way, shut up. Reversal will probably do pretty good."

I booted the laptop and navigated to the website.

I had to log in to the site again. At this point, my heart was thumping a little faster than before.

The site parsed me in, and the author dashboard for the books opened.

{Reversal: Followers (1) Comments (11) Reviews (3) Favorites (0)}

11 comments and 3 reviews.

I had not seen those numbers in whole weeks on Bite Novel.

[Oh dear…]

Biting my lips, I clicked on the comments and review sections…

This is trash. Don't write.

I hate this because it doesn't read like a beginner's work.

Who writes like this? Why is the main character only winning no matter what happens?}

Thank you very much, author. This book changed my life. I was plagued in my day to day with severe insomnia. No matter what I did, I couldn't sleep. It was leading to a lot of problems, my work was collapsing due to a lack of sleep. I was on the verge of getting fired. My wife and I lost connection and she was about to leave me with the kids. After crying all night and still being unable to sleep, I checked this website and came across your book, Reversal. It was so fucking boring that I feel asleep as soon as I read the first few sentences. Now I am the most productive employee, my wife and I share the best dates and my kids always get to play with their dad. It is all thanks to your book. Thank you. You saved my life. Thank you so much.}

I crossed my arms.

"System, let's just write a new book?"

[Yeah. A new book sounds good.]

New book.

We were doing a new book.
