29 Chapter 29 - End Up Falling For You

The room filled with whispers and speculation as Maya walked back to stand beside Xander. Her interactions with the male contestants had raised many questions, particularly about her prior acquaintance with Talon.

"Maya, it's quite a surprise to learn that you and Talon already know each other," Xander commented, his voice reflecting the curiosity of the audience.

Maya offered a bright smile. "Yes, we once performed together at a wedding party and sang together several times in bars. I didn't expect that those experiences would lead Talon to consider me a friend," she said, her giggle reflecting a mix of amusement and surprise.

"So, does that mean you two aren't actually friends?" Xander prodded, intrigued by the ambiguity of their relationship.

Maya only responded with a mysterious smile, adding to the intrigue.

Taking a moment to compose herself, Maya announced, "I will now decide who I choose."

She walked towards Talon, their eyes meeting in a moment of shared understanding. But then, to everyone's surprise, Maya continued past him towards Marcus.

Derek, watching the scene unfold, couldn't resist commenting. "You're so pathetic, Talon. In the end, Maya didn't choose you," he thought with a smirk.

Marcus, caught off guard as Maya approached, thought to himself, "I'm the most charismatic here. Girls like Maya are drawn to guys like me."

However, Maya's journey didn't end with Marcus. She moved on to Leo, who greeted her with a confident smile. "Hi, let's create a perfect performance together, Maya," he said.

Maya continued her path, stopping in front of Ethan. "I love your voice. I know we can put on a perfect performance," he remarked confidently.

Maya smiled at Ethan, then walked towards Derek, who was already wearing a triumphant smile.

"I knew she would choose me," he thought, certain of his charm.

The room was abuzz with anticipation, most assuming that Maya would choose Derek, given his evident potential. But in a twist that no one saw coming, Maya shook her head at Derek and walked back towards Talon. Without hesitation, she took his hand.

Talon, surprised, could only raise an eyebrow. "Maya?"

"Please, come with me. Your honesty in answering my questions has truly impressed me. How could I not choose you?" Her voice was sincere and warm as she gently pulled Talon to stand beside Xander.

Xander, along with the other contestants, erupted into applause. "Finally, we have our first pair for the first challenge," he announced, his voice filled with excitement.

The judges, caught up in the drama and excitement of the pairings, shared their thoughts on the potential dynamics of the newly formed couples.

"Wow… that was really unexpected," Oscar remarked, his applause mingling with a tone of disbelief. He shook his head in amazement at the turn of events.

Heejin, always keen for a hint of romance, speculated enthusiastically. "Now, I wonder how well they knew each other before. Is it possible that there was already love between them?" Her curiosity reflected the thoughts of many in the audience.

Sofia, considering the implications of Maya's choice, commented on the competitive aspect. "I have a feeling this will only intensify the competition among the contestants. I mean, on the very first day, Maya turned down not one, not two, but four male contestants in favor of Talon. That's definitely a bold move and sends a strong message."

David, looking at the bigger picture, noted, "I've come to realize that this season of Passionate Beats is truly filled with passion, and it's all thanks to Maya's bold decision."

Oscar then shifted the focus to the screen. "Okay, now the other pairs will be determined randomly, and we have the final results."

As Oscar read out the pairings, the judges listened intently, each contemplating the potential of the newly formed duos. "Talon will, of course, be with Maya, Derek will be with Rachel, Ethan will be with Celine, Marcus will be with Claire, and Leo will be with Emily."

Turning back to the panel, Oscar posed a question. "In your opinion, of these pair, who has the most potential to give the most extraordinary performance, regardless of the chemistry that might form between them?"

Sofia, already forming her opinion, shared, "Claire is still my favorite, and I'm sure Marcus can position himself well and give a stunning performance with his experience."

David then offered his insight. "Emily has great potential, and I'm confident Leo can match it with his energy and charisma."

Heejin chimed in with her prediction. "Maya and Talon will definitely attract a lot of votes. Their connection have a genuine and intriguing backstory that the audience will surely love."

The atmosphere was abuzz with excitement and camaraderie as Xander wrapped up the pairing session. Each pair, now seated together, eagerly anticipated the details of their first challenge.

"Alright, everyone," Xander began, his voice brimming with excitement. "Each pair will now receive an envelope. Inside, you will find the details of the duet song that you will be performing on the third day of our retreat. You have two more days to practice and perfect your performance. But don't forget to also take this time to enjoy each other's company, make new friends, and create unforgettable memories. Who knows, this retreat may even bring you closer to your soulmate."

With Xander's encouraging words still lingering in the air, the contestants slowly dispersed to their assigned rooms, where they would live together for the duration of the event – males and females in separate rooms.

The male contestants entered their room to find five mattresses lined up. Each chose a mattress and began unpacking their suitcases, settling into their temporary home.

Leo, with a friendly demeanor, approached Talon and sat beside him on the same bed, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Talon, man, you really were the star in the pairing session. Looks like you stole the start from us, ha ha ha…" he said, his laughter light and friendly.

The others smiled at the exchange. Derek chimed in with a light-hearted warning. "Be careful, Talon, don't let Maya's attention slip away to other men," he joked, joining in the camaraderie.

Ethan then turned the conversation to Marcus. "But, isn't Marcus lucky enough to get paired with Claire for the first challenge?" he commented, acknowledging the strong pairing.

Marcus responded with a humble smile and a shake of his head. "Claire is very talented; this is going to be a tough challenge for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can create together," he said, his respect for Claire evident.

The afternoon event was a crucial opportunity for the newly formed pairs to connect and understand each other better. It was also a chance for them to start rehearsing for their upcoming performance. As the appointed hour arrived, Talon was the first to take the initiative.

"I'll go first," he declared.

Heading towards the female contestants' house, Talon was greeted by the sight of Emily peering out the door. Her stunning brown bob framed her face, and her striking green eyes sparkled with friendliness. Emily's warm and engaging demeanor made her particularly attractive.

"Hi Talon…" She greeted him with a bright smile.

"Hi, Emily," Talon replied, returning the greeting.

"Are you here to pick up Maya?" Emily asked, her tone playful yet curious.

"Yes," Talon confirmed.

Emily turned her head, calling into the house with a giggle, "Maya… I think your knight is coming for you." Her words were light-hearted.

Maya then emerged from the house with a soft sigh. "Okay, bye," she said casually.

As she stepped towards Talon and stopped in front of him, the air between them was a hint of personal connection.

"Come, it's time for us to practice," Talon said.

She playfully wagged a finger at him. "Don't go overboard with your charm. I might just end up falling for you," she teased, her eyes twinkling with a mix of jest and sincerity.
