Chapter 12 - Perfect Performances

Talon and Alice slowly walked towards the waiting room, and as they approached, they saw Maya's boyfriend coming out with a rather furious expression. He briefly glanced at Talon before continuing to walk past them.

Alice breathed out a worried sigh and quietly muttered, "Phew… I think something big has happened."

Talon slowly nodded in agreement.

"I think they might be fighting because of the offer to have you and Maya appear on stage together," Alice continued.

Talon stared at Alice for a moment and paused for a moment before continuing. "Still, isn't this something that should be handled as a work matter?"

"I don't see what the issue could be between the two of them," she replied.

Talon nodded slowly.

"Don't take this to heart; this isn't your fault," she said.

"Yes, I understand," he said.

The issue that Maya was dealing with may be related to Talon, but he had no power to influence the situation. Furthermore, he didn't even know Maya's boyfriend, so he shouldn't question himself for doing what he believed was right.

"Let's wait here until Maya comes out. I think she will need some time," Alice added.

But, just shortly after, the door opened, and Maya emerged with a slightly shocked expression. She looked at Talon and Alice and said, "Hey… come, we need to talk," trying to mask the turmoil she was feeling.

Alice and Talon then followed her into the room and began discussing their plans.

Maya looked at Talon with a forced smile and said quietly, "I abandoned you, and now here I am in a situation that really needs your help in my performance." She spoke kindly.

Talon shook his head slowly. "Not really, Maya... the couple asked us both to perform together. I think we both need it here." He tried to calm her down.

"Yes..." Maya answered. "And now, you put me in the position of having to accept that you have singing talent, too. Why did you deliberately hide this before?"

Maya then glanced at Alice. "Did you know this?"

"No," Alice answered and playfully pushed Talon's shoulder with her own. "He never showed me this kind of singing skill either. I was shocked, too."

"With those skills, you could get a more decent job, Talon," Maya continued.

Talon nodded slowly, looking at the two women. "Thanks for your compliment," he said.

The bride and the groom had wide smiles that brimmed with hope as Talon and Maya began making their way to the stage. Talon and Maya were set to fulfill their special requests, singing songs that were meaningful to them. "Can they really do this?" the bride asked.

"I never expected anything more. Just hearing this song at our wedding will be enough to make me happy," the groom replied.

"Yes..." the bride answered, her face lit up with a joyous smile.

The audience's collective attention was instantly drawn to the stage, eagerly anticipating Talon's performance - a duet song. His singing and guitar playing had already won them over, and they were confident they would be just as enchanted by his next song.

"Are you ready, Talon?" Maya smiled warmly at him.

Talon looked at Maya, her face lit up elegantly with her curly blonde hair and her brown dress that clung beautifully to her body. He was taken aback by her composure, considering she had just had a major issue with her boyfriend, yet in a matter of minutes, she was back like nothing had happened. She was truly professional in her job.

"Yes, I'm ready," he said confidently.

"This is a love song," she said, her face radiating with emotion. "I hope you understand what love is so you don't ruin the emotion of this song."

Talon nodded and replied, "I'll try my best."

Maya smiled and raised her hand gently, and Talon responded by taking it firmly in his. Together, they walked to the front of the stage, their faces full of confidence.

Talon slowly cradled his guitar and took a moment to adjust his hands to the strings. He scanned the room, noting the changed atmosphere since his first performance here. All eyes were trained on the stage.

"Love is beautiful," Maya declared. "It takes strength and courage to keep it alive, but I'm sure it's worth the effort."

She smiled at the bride and groom. "I wish you two all the best on this special night and a lifetime of joy."

As Maya's last word hung in the air, Talon's fingers immediately found their way to the strings of his guitar. In a fluid motion, he strummed slowly but with perfect precision, each note resonating through the room like a wave crashing against the shore.

The melody that emerged from his skilled playing seemed to convey all the emotion and depth of the song, wrapping around everyone in the room like a warm embrace.

Silence fell over the crowd as they were all captivated by Talon's performance. Even Maya was stunned, unable to take her eyes off of him as she began to sing the first verse.

She was sure that he had an incredibly bright future ahead of him and that he had the potential to become very popular due to his immense love for his craft.

"He's so amazing," she exclaimed.

Amidst the chaos of clapping hands and whistles, Maya reached for Talon's left hand and clasped it tightly, a smile beaming across her face.

"Thank you, Talon," she said sincerely.

Talon's heart skipped a beat at her words, a mix of pride and disbelief washing over him. He could hardly believe that he had just performed in front of such a large crowd, let alone received compliments from someone as talented as Maya. He nodded slowly, taking in every word as if it were a precious gift.

Unbeknownst to the two of them, two guests seated in the corner of the room had been watching them with expressions of surprise and wonder.

"Who is he," inquired the man in the white shirt, "I think he has great potential. Is he well-known? Look him up on social media, or else try to find out more about him."

"Sure thing," replied the other man, "I'll do my best to figure out who he is."

The bride then stood with the microphone in her hand and said, "I thank you for this perfect performance, Talon and Maya."

Maya smiled and replied, "I'm happy to be able to show the best for everyone here."

Talon also nodded and smiled. The room erupted into applause once again.
