10 The Struggles Of Losing One’s Powers

Chojusen spent a week in the Butterfly Clan's territory, before leaving to start his adventure. At first, he was confused as to why the system hadn't given him rewards after signing the butterfly summoning scroll. But, he knew he was overthinking, as the mission was completed after he used his Butterfly Summoning Skill for the first time.

After he used the skill, Chojusen didn't summon a butterfly, instead he summoned a cocoon. The Butterfly Elder told Chojusen that aside from summoning existing butterflies, a person contracted with the butterfly clan would also raise a lifelong companion with them out of one of the butterflies that had entered the cocoon phase of their life.

This special butterfly would always follow Chojusen after it was born. But before then, he would have to give it a bit of his energy to help it grow and metamorphosize into a fully grown butterfly.

[Congratulations host, you've completed the mission: Contract a summoning beast in the Land of Summoning. Rewards are being calculated…

Rewards finalized: Host has earned an Awakening Stone for the Butterfly Sage Mode and 1,000 shop points.]

"Oh? What's this awakening stone?"

[You can think of it like your Yang Awakening Skill's ability to unlock the hidden potential of a person's body. However, it only works on special techniques. The effects are unique to the person who consumes the stone, so the effects are variable and unpredictable.]

"I see. So I have to eat the stone?"

[Right. Just know that even though it's called a "stone," it's more like a crystallized sphere of essence, so you won't be literally eating a rock.]

"Alright, just materialize the awakening stone in my hand."

The system did as Chojusen asked and Chojusen ate the stone. It didn't really have a flavor, but Chojusen felt a bit warm in his stomach; kind of like the effects of alcohol. After the effects of the stone subsided, Chojusen felt his energies fuse without his control and he entered Butterfly Sage Mode.

When Chojusen entered Butterfly Sage Mode red markings would appear on his face and wings of pure energy would manifest on his back. However, because of the effects of the awakening stone, Chojusen's form stated fluctuating. The markings on his face and the energy wings on his back kept blinking from red to black.

Once Chojusen stabilized, he felt incredible. Not only had his Butterfly Sage Mode changed, his physical body had changed while he was in the upgraded form. In his new Butterfly Sage Mode, Chojusen's body grew to that of a sixteen year old, the markings of a Sage had changed into a pattern that extended all over his body, and both the markings and his energy wings turned into the deepest black conceivable. His eyes' pupils also changed to the same black as his wings, but when they interacted with light, it was like staring at perfect black disco balls.

Chojusen received a prompt from the system.

[Congratulations host, you've managed to evolve Butterfly Sage Mode into Fiendgod Butterfly Sage Mode. Fiendgod Butterfly Sage Mode has given host access to Fiendgod Eyes

Fiendgod Butterfly Sage Mode (Rank SSS | 0/100): The user fuses natural energy, space and time energies, and physical energy perfectly to exponentially enhance physical prowess and energy based techniques. Now possessing the attributes of a Fiendgod, this Sage Mode massively increases the potency of any Space or Time type skills. Current Effect: Physical stats increase by a factor of 15, energy based techniques increase by a factor of 7, Space or Time based techniques are twice as potent.

Fiendgod Eyes (Stage 1 | 0/100): Special eyes that grant the user multiple spacetime abilities. These eyes can be used outside of Fiendgod Butterfly Sage Mode. Current Effect: Allows the user to perceive time twice as fast.]

Chojusen turned off his Fiendgod Butterfly Sage Mode and told the butterfly clan that he would be leaving. The butterfly clan was sad to see him leave, but they still sent him away with a warm farewell. They told him that he could summon them if he ever needed any help; now that he was capable of Butterfly Sage Mode, even though it was not required to be paired with a butterfly clansman, they would make the effects of Butterfly Sage Mode even greater.

After saying a final goodbye, Chojusen teleported directly out of the Land of Summoning. He went back to the Land of Fire, the place that housed his home village. However, he didn't return back to his village, instead he went to a random forest around one of the other hidden villages.

He planned on starting fights with wild beasts and chakra beasts to learn how to fight, but he quickly ran into a problem; he was too overpowered! Every time he punched a wild beast, nothing would be left for him to fight! Even strong A and B rank chakra beasts were fodder against Chojusen, so he was left completely frustrated. Not to mention he still hadn't gotten over the gruesome scenes left behind from his attacks. All of his attacks would leave mangled corpses strewn about in the forest.

He also had to periodically move as there would always be nosy ninjas trying to find out what he was up to. But who could blame them? From their perceptive, all they knew was that some monster was running around the forest, wiping out wild beasts and chakra beasts for no apparent reason!

The system understood his "struggles" and gave him a suggestion.

[You know, you could go to the system shop and buy a Mortal limiter.]

"Huh?" Chojusen opened the system shop and quickly found what the system was talking about.

[Mortal Limiter: A special seal that can regulate the host's power. As long as stats are below max Kage level, the Limiter will automatically regulate the power of the host to match that of his opponent. WARNING! After applying the seal, only very special circumstances can deactivate the seal Cost: 800 shop points.]

"This is perfect! I would like to buy one." He paused for a second before saying "Can you tell me some of the circumstances where I can deactivate the seal or is my level too "low"?"

[Very funny… If you ever become unreasonably distressed, the seal might come undone. We wouldn't want you dying now, would we?]

The System had such a charming personality…

Chojusen ignored the system's taunts and officially started his combat training. When he saw a C rank boar he checked his status to see how the limiter would work.

[Status~

Name: Chojusen Akimichi

Level: Mid Genin (High Jonin)

Race: Mostly Human, Part Fiendgod

Age: 3 Years

Power: 25,000 (591,102)

Speed: 27,500 (659,541)

Energy: 20,000 (2,017,319)

Shop Points: 200]

"Aren't the numbers a bit too… perfect?"

[If by perfect you mean they all have a margin of error, then yeah; they are perfect. The limiter won't suppress you to your enemy's exact level; only an average estimate.]

Chojusen ran up to the boar he punched it like he did all the times previously. This time it didn't feel like the world was slowing down and his punch didn't instakill the boar. Since this was a real wild boar, it naturally reacted to being attacked and started flailing its head at Chojusen; threatening to cut him with its tusks.

Chojusen reasonably acted like a novice and panicked. He had grown used to killing his opponents without any effort, and now that he was forced to fight something on equal terms he had no clue how to react. Chojusen tried using his S Rank Space Locking Skill, but couldn't pull it off as he didn't have enough energy; at most he could use the C Rank version of the Space Locking skill to restrain the boar for a couple seconds.

Knowing that all his skills were also being limited placed a sense of crisis on Chojusen and he began to act instinctively. Right now, he was like a feral beast in fight or flight and he attacked without regards for the carnage he caused.

He rained down punches and kicks on the boar, but the boar bashed its body against his and he became wounded. Since both the boar and Chojusen were at about the same level of power and they both fought recklessly, they both became exhausted at the same rate. After a couple minutes of fighting, Chojusen was covered in bruises and cuts all over his body, and the boar also had a myriad of open wounds spilling blood all over their battlefield.

Chojusen should have been a better condition since he had several healing skills, but all of them were restricted by the limiter and the boar obviously had more experience than Chojusen with regards to fighting; in the forest, to survive, it had to follow the law of the jungle: only the fittest survive.

As the fight progressed, the tides slowly turned to Chojusen's favor as he was learning how to use all the skills he could currently use, efficiently. His previously over-the-top teleportation had been reduced to a range of one meter, so he learned how to use it to dodge attacks and launch is own sneak attacks.

Too bad, Chojusen only managed to master the basics of using teleportation in combat after much of the battle had passed. With his teleportation, Chojusen beat the boar, but he also collapsed from exhaustion.

Chojusen's battle with the boar didn't go unnoticed as a couple of ninjas reached Chojusen's position not long after he collapsed. However, they didn't believe that a toddler could fight against a C rank beast, so as they prepared a report for this event, the just stated that they found a kid next to a dead boar in the forest.

Chojusen was brought to the Village Hidden in the Grass, but he wouldn't know that until he woke up.
