"Hello? Anyone here?"

I continue to walk in the middle of an endless white room. Where am I? The last thing I remember is a drunk man stabbing me with his bottle. I still remember the pain in my stomach, and I remember how the pain slowly gets away as my vision gets blurry.

The next thing I know, I wake up in this place.

I don't know how long I have been here, but it is like I have been walking for a week non-stop. I continue to walk and shout, for maybe there are someones out there that can hear me.

"Hello?! Anyone?!"

Where am I? What kind of place is this?

"Oh?"

"Hello?! Where are you?!"

I know I'm not insane. I can hear it.

"No. You are not going insane, yet."

"Hello?"

After I say that, I see a young child appear in front of me. He has golden eyes and pure white hair.

"Who are you and where are we?"

"Hmmm, how do I explain it in your tongue? I guess you can call this place a Limbo but with an extra step. This place is the place between Life and Death but this place is not only that. This place is what your people called the void. This is the place between space that separates the bubbles of the multiverse."

"I-I see."

"I must say, I'm impressed."

"Huh?"

What is he talking about?

"I'm impressed that a soul, especially a human's soul, manages to survive this place."

"Huh? Why? Also, a soul? That means I'm really dead, huh?"

"You are rather calm about this. The last time I visited the Earth's underworld, people were screaming that they were not dead and they demanded to be sent back to the living world."

"Really? I guess I already accept that I'm dead. The pain and the weightless feeling while I'm dying, I already accept that I will be dead. I'm just surprised that I'm here instead of whatever place I'm supposed to go."

"And that's another thing I'm curious about. I already asked the underworld staff and they say that there is a breakout in the underworld."

"Break out? What is happening?"

"A horde of transport beasts in the underworld manage to break their cage and cause havoc. Many dying humans on earth manage to see the other day and you somehow appear here. One of the reapers is on the way to transporting your soul to the underworld but before your soul is put in the judge box, this beast breaks the wall and your soul gets thrown here."

"Huh. The underworld is more hectic than I thought."

"What? You thought there would be only one judge? That will take ages to judge all the souls on earth if that is true. There are a hundred or so judges in the underworld and countless workers that make the underworld work."

"So… What will happen to me? Will you send me back to the underworld?"

"What? No! It's been a while since someone managed to survive in this place and I'm bored."

"Bored?"

"Yup! I'm busy but doing the same thing for millennia is boring! Because of that, I will give you a choice. The first one is the boring one. I will give you back to the underworld and you will be judged. I cannot promise you that you will go to the heavens for a few hundred years before you are reincarnated or you need to cleanse your sin in hell before your soul goes into the reincarnation cycle."

"And the next one?"

"The next one is that you go for an adventure! Don't worry, you will be in the world you know and I will give you some gifts. So! What is your choice?"

A second chance, huh? Adventure, huh? Hah. Fuck it.

"Sure. I will take the second option."

"Great! There is only one thing I want you to do in this world."

"What is it?"

"This world is dangerous and many people suffer for it. I want you to save them. Help as many people as you can but remember not to make it your goal. This is a second chance and I want you to enjoy it."

"I will."

"Good. Now! Let's send you away!"

After he says that, my entire body is engulfed in white light, and suddenly I appear in a new world. It is the start of my second chance.

This idea is from my brother, who is reading Driver Seat by Cherico in the Questionable Questing forum (Great story. You need an account before you can read it). He decided to fill out the CYOA Cherico used and asked me if I could make a story for him with this CYOA.
