38 – The Killer

Brunch rolled in the air, but she was able to stabilize her position again and managed to catch Sigmund's body with her mouth. That bearded man tries to get away but to no avail. Brunch then takes him out of the house.

Alan was stunned to see the other players lying on the ground with all kinds of injuries. Some were unconscious, and some were moaning in pain, even crying.

In the end, Alan has priorities. He chose to check on his friends instead. He found Haruna getting up from the rubble, but Celia was lying unconscious.

"Celia!" They approached the female fighter, who didn't seem to have any wounds.

Alan checked Celia's heartbeat through her wrist. She was still alive, but Alan couldn't relax yet. Maybe that woman has a concussion or broken bones.

"Wake up, wake up." Alan patted the woman's cheek.

"Celia," Haruna added.

But gave no response.

"What should we do, Alan?" Haruna asked in despair. "Should we run away?"

Alan was about to answer, but his words were cut off by a roar from outside. The young immediately looked through the window.

Brunch was curled up on the ground, and Sigmund was on her back. The bearded man was beating one of the wyvern's wings, rendering her unable to fly.

Alan realized. Maybe he relies on Brunch too often.

Leaving that beast was not an option, but if they didn't go soon, they would definitely become their next victims.

The young man looked at Celia's waist bag. There may still be another way.

Alan opened Celia's bag and took out a vial filled with a dark liquid.

"What's that? Is…." Haruna gasped while reading the description of that thing. "A berserker potion? You're not thinking about drinking it, are you…"

Alan gulped down the potion before the rogue finished her words.

"Ugghhh…" Alan dropped the empty potion bottle on the floor. A scorching heat suddenly gripped his chest. Over time it became unbearable. "Arrrgggghhh!!!"

"Al, are you okay!?" Haruna held Alan's arm.

Alan couldn't respond because his brain was filled with the desire to destroy whatever was in front of him. And that feeling is also getting more intense every second.

"Please, Haruna," he growled. "Stay away. I don't know how long I can contain this."

"No, I don't want to leave you." Even though her eyes were covered with tears, Haruna still smiled.

"I told you, leave me!" With a face full of rage, Alan choked Haruna. But he immediately realized that and let go of the female fighter.

While Haruna was coughing violently, Alan stood up and turned his back on that girl. "I'm sorry… I'm not sure I can control myself …. Argghhhh!!!"

Destructive desire continued to seep into Alan's mind. He ran outside and saw Brunch fighting Sigmund on the ground. That wyvern can't fly anymore.

The bearded man clearly had the upper hand. Each of his strikes always hits Brunch's body and head, while the wyvern has difficulty counterattacking. She wasn't used to fighting on the ground.

And that sight added to the chaos in Alan's head. He really didn't care anymore. What mattered to him now was destroying his enemy.

"Arrrrgghhhh!!!" Many veins protruded on Alan's face. Some whirlpools had sprung up around him in the air.

Seeing that, Sigmund immediately ran away.

Alan then fired water blasts from the whirlpools. Sigmund tried to dodge all of those, but he was getting overwhelmed.

And as soon as one blast hit him, his body was blown away.

[Level up]

However, Alan had not stopped. This time he fired chunks of dirt at the enemy. Sigmund couldn't do anything because he was still in the air.

And that goes hand in hand with Alan's experience bar filling up rapidly.

[Level up]

Sigmund's body was tossed around in various directions because of the chunks that kept stoning him.

Then, Alan launched a human-sized chunk into Sigmund's body. The bearded man rolled in the air from that impact, then landed on the city street.

With his breath getting out of control, Alan staggered towards his enemy. He would not be satisfied if he did not see that man die miserably.

However, Sigmund could still stand even with a body covered in wounds and blood. His gaze can focus on his opponent.

Alan screamed for the umpteenth time, then fired water blasts and ground bullets. And unlike before, Sigmund punched those chunks and dodged the high-pressure water coming at him this time.

He was even faster than before being injured. "I won't lose to someone like you! This is for the goddess Ode!"

Slowly, Sigmund advanced toward his opponent. Alan screamed even louder. The attacks he did were also getting more intense.

Sigmund's body was hit several times by those attacks, but he didn't give up. If he falls, he will get up again to keep moving forward.

And finally, Sigmund was inches away from Alan. The bearded man then choked Alan's neck, forcing the young mage to stop his attacks.

"It seems you used some kind of substance to increase your power. Maybe a berserker potion." Sigmund muttered with a face full of blood. "But you are inexperienced, so your attacks are just like that. I can read it eventually."

Alan's mouth opened wide to reach for the air, and his eyes began to roll back.

"And goddess Ode promises to her followers. She will give her blessings to those who are in need." Sigmund tightened his grip. "So, I can rise with more power when you press me…. I respect you for wanting to keep helping your friends, even though you could have run away. Unfortunately, you are not needed in this world. Give my regards to the goddess Atha…."

The bearded man stopped his words as the ground around him shook a bit.
