5 Classes

Karina is kneeling in front of Atlas touching his forehead with her eyes closed.

"Okay Atlas, this time I don't want you to do anything okay? I'm going to see if you did what I think you did."

Atlas feels that warm feeling once again coming from his mom's palm. He tries his best not to move that feeling throughout his entire body. After a few seconds of this feeling moving throughout his head, his mom opens her eyes.

"Seriously, how did your father and I manage to create such a genius?"

She stands back up and walks over to her bookshelf, making sure to avoid the mess of papers left behind from Atlas' mess. She gets to the corner shelf and reaches forward to a grouping of books with white spines. She grabs the first book in the series of seven. She takes this thick book and does a small dance to avoid the paper once again and plops herself down in the chair across from Atlas.

After she sits down, she opens the first page of the thick white book. After reading a little bit, she speaks up,

"Okay baby, can you look for that warm feeling again but in your head?"

Atlas hurriedly nods and closes his eyes. After a few seconds he says,

"What next?"

His mom once again gets a dumbfounded expression.

'Seriously, how the Malac did we create him?'

"Alright, now can you tell me if you see a circle?"

Atlas nods his head and says,

"Yep! It's got a bunch of weird things drawn in it."

She gets up again and grabs a blank sheet of parchment and a small table. She sets the table down beside him and hands him a quill pen, and parchment.

"Can you draw what you see for me?"

Atlas shakes his head yes and grabs the quill pen. He falls into a trance as his body moves nearly robotically, drawing the circle and the runes surrounding it nearly perfectly. He takes nearly half a minute to draw it. He puts down the quill pen and jumps up, handing the paper to his mom.

After getting his paper she looks through the book, flipping from page to page rapidly.

"Let's see… *flip*… Grand… *flip flip flip*… I can't find the meaning of the second rune… *flip flip*… General…"

Karina nearly drops the book in shock. She reaches to the table beside her and picks up and bell, rattling it frantically. A female servant in a button up shirt, vest, and khaki trousers comes in the room and before she can even speak, Karina says,

"Get my husband! Tell him it's an emergency!"

The servant closes the door and takes off running down the hall.

Atlas turns to his mom in worry and asks,

"Mommy, did I do something bad?"

Karina looks at her son and picks him up onto her lap, setting the book down on the table beside her.

"Honey, how much do you know about classes?"

Atlas gets a sad look on his face and asks,

"Is it time for classes?"

Karina chuckles and says,

"No honey, I mean things like soldier, knight, hero, those kinds of classes."

Atlas tilts his head in confusion. Karina smiles at him and starts explaining them to him,

"So, classes are divided into five levels: Petty, Normal, Great, Grand, and finally Legendary. Petty classes follow your every day basic jobs, builder, butcher, and other jobs similar. Normal classes cover jobs with a bit more skill and some combat, soldier, hunter, and other artisan type jobs. Great is mainly for combat oriented classes with a few artisan types. This is also the type where magic is introduced, blacksmith, knight, and mage are good examples. Then there's Grand. Grand classes are specifically combat and magic based, with there only being one production job in the whole class. This is also the one where large scale jobs become available. Enchanter, magia, and general are three good examples. Lastly, legendary. Legendary classes appear once in a lifetime. They consist of only combat classes from what we know. Classes such as arch-magus and hero call this group home."

Atlas listens to his mother talk with vigor, not missing a single word. As she's done talking, he speaks up,

"What class do I have?"

She gives a troubled smile and says,

"I can't say for sure, I'm not a class reader. I can only make out the words 'grand' and 'general' from the runes on your circle. There's a third one that isn't in the book though…"

Atlas looks a little dejected for a few seconds before lighting back up with another question.

"Then what are mommy and daddy's classes?"

She puffs out her chest and states,

"Your mommy has the great class of mage! And your daddy has the great class knight."

His eyes light up as he gets excited for his own class reading. Then he realizes… He doesn't know when he'll even get his class read!

"Mommy, when do I get to know my class?"

"When children turn 10 they're brought to the class reading building. Your sister, Amy got her class read a while back."

"What class is she?"

She smiles at him and stands up, putting him on the ground,

"Amy got the great class knight and Alvina got the grand class arch-mage."

Right after saying that, the door bursts open as Baron Luce rushes in.

"WHAT'S WRONG!?"

Atlas jumps when his father bursts in. Karina barely manages to hold in a laugh, but then instantly turns serious.

"I think Atlas has a class that's never been seen before."

The Baron's shoulders immediately relax as he lets out a sigh,

"Haaaaah… Please from now on don't say 'it's an emergency' when you have news to tell me… So, what's his class?"

Karina giggles,

"Haha. It's got three runes. The first is Grand, the second I couldn't find, and the third is General."

He walks over to her and keeps asking,

"What book were you looking for them in?"

She walks over to the table she sat the book on and hands it to him,

"I looked in this one."

Heath looks over the book and closes it,

"This is a book about physical combat class runes, the one in the center must be magical or production based. What did the rune look like?"

Karina picks up a piece of parchment and draws a circle with a four pointed star and an eye in the center.

Heath looks at it and walks over to the shelf, pulling out two books. He hands one to his wife and starts flipping through the other.

After about a minute, he speaks up,

"Ahah! That rune stands for arch-magus!…"

Karina and Heath both drop their books.

Atlas' eyes sparkle,

"So my class is Grand Arch-magus General!?"

The pair look at him and immediately tears start flowing from their eyes.
