Gran Cadia

Grey Alpha, a young man who was raised at Starlight Academy since an infant, finds himself awakening as a Mage. What Grey didn't know is that Starlight Academy throughout the land is known a the worst academy with a graduation rate of 10%. This percent only because the rank requirement for graduation is Brilliance Mage, which is considered a powerful existence in Gran Tierra. If that wasn't bad enough Grey has also managed to form a contract with one of the weakest creatures to exist, a Wind Sprite. With a weak contract and a nigh impossible graduation goal. Grey has a long way before being able to become one of Gran Tierra's most powerful forces.

"Ugh, my head. Damn alarm is the worst thing I've ever gotten."

Grey rolled over sleepily before shutting off his alarm and laying in bed contemplating if being a Mage is truly for him. He shook these thoughts out of his head before jumping down and getting on the floor in the push-up position.

" Guess I better get my day started cause there are no do overs in reality."

Ever since he was a young teen Grey knew that having a well maintained body was just as important as being a powerful Mage. Most Mages would say that having a higher rank along with a high quality Spirit weapon and powerful Contract is more important than maintaining ones body. Though Grey didn't follow that mindset, so he started maintaining his body at twelve and has kept the routine going for 6 years now.

"97….98…..99…100. Whew, now that I finished up my morning routine of push-ups and sit-ups time to hit the shower before class."

After taking brief shower Grey gets dressed before heading out to class. He dons a simple white t-shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. He checks the mirror on more time, all while running his fingers through his medium length red curly hair and ears out the door.

"Yo Grey, you heading down to the Magic Hall?"

Looking down the dorm hall from where Grey heard the voice he saw J. GaleFlame walking over towards him with a gold book in his hand. Grey's eyes. looked on the book as he felt a subtle yet powerful magical pressure come from the book.

"Yeah just was going to swing by the cafe and grab something to eat."

"Great, mind if I come with? I'm not exactly hungry but not ready to go to the Magic Hall for the Contract summoning just yet."

"Sure, not at all."

After a brief few minutes of walking the two young men enter the cafe where it's almost empty, having only a few students littering the tables throughout the large building. Grey figured they must be with their families in the Magic Hall already.

J and Grey walk up to the counter to order their food when a loud click came over the speakers in the cafe followed by a mans voice.

"ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS THIS IS PROFESSOR FANG SPEAKING! WELL CLEARLY....I am the only instructor here.....BUT MATTER NOT THAT! I AM HERE TO ANNOUNCE THAT THERE WILL BE AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT BEFORE THIS YEARS CONTRACT SUMMONING. THANK YOU AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOON AND IN YOUR PLACES, IN APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES TO BE EXACT!!"

"You know he was never funny with his jokes, matter of fact he's pretty corny hahaha"

"Yeah every time he makes one I just fake laugh and leave."

"Yeah he's a bit awkward isn't he...but why make an announcement about an announcement?"

Grey and J couldn't help but overhear the laughter and complaints from the various students following the principal over the speakers.

"Hahahaha they aren't wrong but they could give the old man some slack. What do you think, J?

"It's true he's a bit corny but I've gotta hurry I don't wanna be late, you know my dad will kill me if he finds out."

"Are you ok? You've been acting like something has been bothering you all morning?"

J just shrugs before walking up to the kiosk and places his order, afterwards Grey does the same and the duo walk over to retrieve their food. After getting their food they walk to wards the door where the see a student standing at the exit handing out flyers. Grey notices not everyone takes one before heading over to see what they are.

"Hey what are the flyers for?"

"Ahh!"

The student jumped in a bit of surprise to not noticing or hearing Grey walk over that they dropped the flyers in their hand.

Seeing the flyers floating in the air and all over the floor Grey puts his food down and bends down to help clean the mess.

J looks at his watch nervously before looking at the mess on the floor and puts his food down in order to help.

Seeing his friend in such a rush, Grey took the papers that J had out of his had before shooting him off.

"It's ok J, go ahead and I'll catch up with you later. Shouldn't be too long alright?"

"Ok I'll see you in a bit then."

J exits the cafe as Grey and the student clean up the flyers off the floor. Not even paying attention before Grey notices that the student is girl with long pink hair, brown eyes and a face mask covering most of her face. She looks at Grey before turning red and looking away from his eyes.

"So are you going to hand the flyers back or are you just going to stare?"

Grey snapped out of his minor trance before handing back all but one of the flyers he collected. He glanced down and looked at the flyer and noticed a gold magic symbol in the center of the paper.

"Sorry about the mess but I was still wondering what's the gold symbol on the paper?"

The pink haired girl dusted herself off before looking at Grey like he insulted her mother. she then liked at the paper he held out in front of her.

"Gold? No you're clearly mistaken it's blue. Besides it's a Contract summon, the principal gave em all out in lou of his big announcement. Which if I'm not mistaken I'm about tone late for."

Grey glanced back at the paper after the girl said it's blue and still saw the gold symbol. He looked up from the paper to tell the girl of her mistake when he realized she had vanished.

'Weird she must've ran off to the Magic Hall, but she was right in front of me.'

Putting  the girls disappearance act in the back of his mind, Grey stuffed the paper in his pocket before he grabbed his food and began running out the cafe to the Magic Hall. Grey sprinted across the courtyard while simultaneously stuffing his face. It wasn't before long till he was standing before the large open doors of the Magic Hall.

'Hopefully I'm not too late and can get a decent seat. Though judging from the volume of the conversations doesn't seem very likely.'

Grey the proceeded to walk into the Magic Hall, as he continued to walk further into the building he was met with various conversations that mushed together in the large stadium like building. He looked around to the various students of different races ranging from human, elf, demon, and giant.

After finding and open seat Grey sat down and awaited for the gathering to commence. He looked around for J when he saw him sitting down in the front row along with his mother and father. He also saw at the center of the building was a small platform and upon that platform sat Professor Fang.

'Hmmm everyone seems to be here. So I believe it is time to begin before everyone gets restless and a fight breaks out.'

Professor Fang looked around before standing up and walking towards the podium in front of him. He then places his hands up all while the same time the Magic Hall grows quiet. Motioning his hands towards himself, there's a large creak and with everyone looked over to him closing the giant doors.

'Ahaha, good I thought he was going to be late.'

The silver haired middle aged man broke into a brief smile before looking down at the crystal ring on his hand and rubbed it gently. He then looked up and studied the room of people before him while tapping to check if the microphone was working.

"GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING ME HERE TODAY. I HAVE CALLED THIS SUDDEN GATHERING IN ORDER TO ANNOUNCE THE CURRICULUM FOR THIS YEAR AND THOSE TO FOLLOW. IM PLEASED TO STATE THAT DUE TO UNDERSTAFFING....THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ONE!!"

Upon hearing Professor Fang's big announcement many of the crowd especially the parents had flew into a state of confusion. While many of the parents were confused majority of the students were pleased.

"Does this mean no homework for the year? because if so I'm down for this!"

"I'm hoping it means we just focus on increasing our Arcane level along with zero tests."

"Oh stop it, we pay too much money for this kind of nonsense. Ugh! no wonder this academy is rated the worst."

Seeing the chaotic state of after the grand announcement, it left Professor Fang with a slight internal joy. The man raised his hands in which soon after the entire building became quiet as if everyone was mute.

"I SEE THAT MY SUDDEN NEWS HAS STARTLED YOU ALL WHICH IM COMPELLED TO SAY THAT IF ANY OF YOU CHOOSE YOU MAY WITHDRAW ANY OF THE STUDENTS! UPON DOING SO I WILL ISSUE A FULL REFUND FOR THE COST OF YOUR TUITION HERE AT STARLIGHT ACADEMY. NOT ONLY THAT BUT I WILL GIVING ALL THE STUDENTS A FREE CONTRACT SUMMON AS A GIFT."

Many of the parents were over joyed at Professor Fan's announcement not only because he was giving a Contract summon but he was giving a full refund for the students tuition. The grumbles from before soon turned into brief conversations that carried a tone of glee.

'Huh I wonder what this old man's plan is.'

Grey couldn't help but wonder why he would make such a sudden yet crazy decision about the academy. Ever since Grey could remember Professor Fang was the only instructor here at StarLight Academy and it's been that was for over a decade. Grey pondered his thoughts while looking down at the silver haired man.

"NOW THAT I HAVE THE IMPORTANT THINGS OUT THE WAY. I OFFER YOU TO STAY AND USE YOUR SUMMONS HERE OR YOU MAY LEAVE. WHIVH IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO SO I WIL BE MAILING YOUR REFUNDS RIGHT TOO YOU."

Seeing no one move a muscle also brought the Professor to laugh in his heart.

'At least they have some sense of loyalty.'

"NOW LET US END THIS GATHERING ON A GOOD NOTE AND SEE WHAT CONTRACTS OUR HAND CRAFTED MAGES WILL FORM TODAY! WE WILL BE STARTING IN THE FRONT ROW."

Professo Fang looked down the first row in the Magic Hall and his eyes fell upon J. GaleFlame. He motioned J to the stage as the first one to begin his summon. J walked up the stage with his contract paper in hand and reached the center of the stage. The older man smiled as the tall black haired young Mage held out the paper in front of him.

"Now you are going to close your eyes, breathe deep, and circle your magic energy. Once you have done that a few moments later your paper should open up a summon portal and once the Familiar walks out the contract is complete."

J nodded as the Professor finished his explanation and began closing his eyes.

After doing so he began circling his magic energy to the fullest. As the blue like energy reached the paper it enveloped it in the light blue color. A few moments later a black misty like portal opened a few feet away from J.
