Power System

Inside a medical room.

A boy lay still on a pristine white bed. Positioned nearby, a table held a pot emitting a delicate, wispy smoke. The gentle tendrils unfurled through the air, leaving a subtle, sweet fragrance hanging in the room.

The boy's eyes fluttered before suddenly snapping open, his gaze darting around the unfamiliar surroundings. As he took in the wooden walls and the assortment of furniture, including tables and chairs, he noticed flowerpots adorning the windowsill. The window was wide open, allowing a gentle breeze to fill the room with fresh air.

The last thing he remembered was that he was in a dungeon and was fighting with the boss along with other awakeners, before dying the boss punched him and sent him inside another cave, after which his memory was blurry.

As he pondered his current location, a sudden apparition materialized right in front of him. The unexpected appearance left him astonished and perplexed.

He then carefully read those words that appeared in his vison.

[ Power System is initialized ]

[ Welcome Host ]

[ Do you want to see the current status screen ]

'Did I accidentally gain another system?'

'And from the looks of it, this one looks much different from the precious one. I heard from father that among millions, only one person gets such a system.'

"So, what kind of system is this?" he asked, not having much else to inquire about. Suddenly, a line of text appeared before him.

[ This system is designed for the chosen one, enabling them to grow stronger by pushing the limits of the Host. The system will present occasional missions that the Host must fulfill to maintain the bond, otherwise the system will be removed from the Host. ]

Reading the notifications, he was clearly lost in thoughts.

So, this system was not a permanent one and can be lost, if he failed in any of the missions provided by the system.

"So, is there anything that you can provide me currently?"

[ The system allows host to pick up attributes that others release during their enlightenment, breakthrough or training. Those attributes allow host to increase his stats and gain new skills or increase the proficiency of the spells ]

"If, by any chance, I fail to complete a mission you've assigned, will all the stats and skills granted by the power system be revoked?"

[ You don't have enough Authority! ]

"What?"

"What is this Authority thing you are talking about?"

[ Authority is the level of control you have over the system and can be gained by increasing your rank or through missions ]

Reading the line, the boy's raced with different thoughts he then said, "So then where can I find the attributes drop you told me?"

But after the last notification, he didn't get other notifications, so he looked at the lines which he received before.

He then thought, "Now, where can I find someone who is having a breakthrough?"

While lost in his thoughts, he failed to notice a woman entering the medical room. Observing him gazing into the distance, the woman approached, a bowl in her hands. "You're awake now? How are you feeling?" she inquired, placing the bowl on the table beside the bed. Pulling up a chair, she settled beside him.

"I'm feeling much better now. By the way, can you tell me how long I've been here?" the young man inquired.

"You've been here for four days. When you arrived, you were in pretty bad shape. However, looking at you now, it seems you've almost made a full recovery."

She opened the desk cabinet, catching the boy's attention. Inside, he spotted a ring, instantly recognizing it as his storage ring, which he had worn. It dawned on him that he hadn't noticed its absence upon waking, but there it was in the cabinet.

Curious, the woman inquired, "Now that you've recovered, would you like to leave?"

The boy retrieved the ring, placing it on his right hand, and responded, "Yes, I will take my leave and thank you for your care."

A smile graced the woman's face as she remarked, "It's my job."

Both the boy and the woman rose from their seats, heading towards the room's exit. When they reached the building's entrance, the woman asked, "By the way, what's your name? If someone inquires, I can inform them that you've departed."

The boy met her gaze and replied, "My name is Horatius Ledger." With that, he left the building, seamlessly blending into the surrounding crowd.

.

Delencrest Training House,

Horatius was standing in front of the Training house. Based on the information he found, Delencrest is the largest martial arts academy in this city. The head instructor of this training house was a A-rank awakener, ranked among the top 100 awakeners of same rank.

From this, one could tell how powerful the instructor was. Delencrest training house had a lot of awakeners and had given birth to many powerful figures.

This Delencrest Training House is the branch of Delen Training House, which was situated in the Capital, with its branches spreading over the big cities in the empire. The landmass it covered was so much that it could fit around thousands of peoples inside it.

The gate of the training house was magnificent to say the least. There was a huge pillar erected in the middle of the main gate, and words 'Delencrest Training House' were written conspicuously in silver.

When he reached the entrance, he saw two guards standing at the door, they wore brown protective armor with weapons in their hands. The menacing looks they gave to the passerby was enough to frighten them.

There were two buildings in the Training House, the one at the beginning was management building, it was a huge building made of glass, Horatius could see peoples clamoring inside. Beside the glass building was a dome like structure which was the training hall.

Without wasting any time, he went towards the management building, under the staff's guidance he registered himself as temporary recruit, who can enter the training hall for around a month, unless he becomes the permanent member of the training house.

The Training House would only accept awakeners between the age of 15 and 24, to prevent wastage of resources and space in the hall.

Since he was 16 years old this year, he was able to enter the training hall without any problem.

The noises from the training hall struck him the second he walked into the hall.

The hall was divided into different sections, according to the needs. The first section was an open area where peoples can alone or with others accordingly. The next section had many rings like structures where two people fought with each other and the rings kept them inside and didn't let any power leak.

There were many other sections, but Horatius kept his attention on the first section where awakeners were fighting each other.

When Horatius entered the first section he stopped and kept staring at the transparent balls on the ground. Around 15 transparent balls were floating above the ground.

Horatius blinked and looked at those transparent balls, and thought in his mind, 'Are those the attributes the system talked about?'

As he wasn't sure of what to do, looking around he noticed that others weren't able to notice those balls on the ground.

Some peoples walked past those balls, but they passed through it. To them, the balls didn't exist.

Horatius walked closer to the ball and nearest to him to check whether he could walk past through them or not.

The moment he touched the ball, it disappeared. His vision blurred for a moment, and a black panel appeared in front of him.

Looking at the long list in front of him he was shocked, all of those stats and skills he previously had were written there like the previous one. But there was a big difference from the previous one as the new status window even showed him the proficiency which the previous one didn't show.

Even the strength attribute he picked up just now was added to his own strength, making him excited.

Horatius felt his heart palpitate as he stared at the new status screen.

This was exhilarating.

This system allowed him to collect attributes from other peoples and turn them into his own, this was law-defying.

Other people practice diligently while he can pick up those attributes. Horatius saw success in front of him, and the revenge he has planned.
