Tempura for dinner

Chief Harvard and his wife who's already waiting for the dinner, grinning when seeing me and Silvie bring a new dish for dinner.

"Master Ikki, you make a new dish again for dinner? I can smell the fragrant aroma from that dish"

"Yes, chief, this is a famous dish from where I come from called tempura"

"Hoo, looks delicious. Let's get the dinner together, master Ikki, please take a seat"

We arranged the plates in the dining table along with the sliced boiled potato for carbohydrate source in our dinner. Without speak any words anymore, everyone takes their portion and start eating it. And like the night before, the plates already emptied within minutes and the content moved inside our belly.

"Phew, what a relish. Master Ikki cooking is always delicious. It's bring something to enjoy in the night"

"Haha, chief Harvard overpraise me. In my place, I'm just an apprentice cook. There are many people who can cook better than me"

"Hmmm, maybe true. But in here, only you who can cook like this master Ikki. I never thought vegetable can be cooked like that too"

I'm just smiling hearing chief Harvard praise. Well, I haven't seen the world outside this village and taste their food there, so I can't too proud of that.

"Ah right, what is master Ikki plan for tomorrow?"

"I will going to find ingredient again chief, there's not much left in my inventory"

"Oh, okay. Because tomorrow I will go to meet with other refugees camp, and persuade them to join our village. If there're some people who can work to open new settlement, I will bring them to that place near the beach"

"Alright chief, I hope that talk will go smoothly"

"If master Ikki going to the forest, please bring a weapon. Just in case you meet a beast there. Ask Silvie to get it for you"

"Sure chief, I'll remember that"

After the dinner over, we go to our room to rest. Well, in this era, sleeping early means less candle to use to bring light to the house.

I go to the room, take off my outer garment and wait for Silvie to sneak from her parent room and come to this room. About half an hour later, she shows up at the door's still.

"Ikki, you wait for me too long? If you already tired you can sleep first without waiting for me"

"Nope, waiting for you is something worth to do. Besides, I can think about what story I should tell you to accompany your sleep"

Silvie smile when hear what I'm saying. She enters the room and sits beside and kiss my cheek.

"Ikki is the best. You know what I want before sleep"

"So, what kind of story you want to listen tonight, Silvie?"

"Mmm, I want to know how kid grow up in Ikki's country"

"Alright, I tell you that, but I lay my back first"

After saying that, I lay my back in the bed. Silvie also starts to cling in my chest to listen to my story.

"Okay, I'll start telling you how a kid grows up in my country. Usually, kid until their age reaches 5 years old stay all days with their parent at home. Mostly with their mother, but sometimes both of their parents are working, so they must put into daycare place until their parent pick them back after work"

"Daycare place?"

"Ah, that entrusted place for working parent that can't take care of their children during their work and can't bring their children to the workplace. There're people who especially hired to take care their children during their stay in that place, like giving food, take the kid to play, accompany them take a nap etc."

"Um, I think I understand that. In here when women have little kid, they can't go to the field because must take cares of their kid. When their kid big enough to leave at home, they can continue their work in the field. That daycare place is a great idea"

"Um, then after the kid reaches five years old, they're going to a kindergarten school. In there they teach how to socialize with their peers by playing together there. After in there for two years, they continue to study in elementary school, where they learn basic knowledge in our world"

"School?"

"Ah, that's a place where people come to study the knowledge, they learn how to read and write, also learn how to count, how to drawing and many things to study"

"Wow, looks like the interesting place. I wish there's a place like that in here"

"Then after six years in elementary school, they continue their education in junior school for three years, then after that, go to high school for three years and after that, they can choose to study further and start to work"

"Ikki also go to a place like that?"

"Um, I'm in the high school that learn how to cook and make delicious dishes"

"Ooh, no wonder Ikki's cooking so good"

"I'm just an apprentice thou, I still have to learn many things"

"Um, Ikki, is that thing like school can be made here?"

"Ah, how to say that. To makes a school need many people with certain expertise to teach that to the people. If there are only one people to teach, the material to teach is too limited"

"I see, but I wish this village can make something like school so people can learn many things"

"When this village become prosperous, there will be people who come to make a living here. If there're people with expertise come here, we can recruit them to become a teacher. Maybe we can recruit Mr. Lukas to teach how to make iron works, or Mr. Taylor to teach how to make clothes, or even Mr. Matius to teach how to hunting prey"

"Mmm, that can be done. I will say that to father if he agrees maybe we can make this school in the village"

Silvie yawning after hearing my story, she looks sleepy after listening to my story.

"You should sleep Silvie, you've been work hard today and need rest"

"Okay, give me goodnight kiss first Ikki"

After I give her a goodnight kiss, Silvie leans her head in my chest, close her eyes, and start to sleep. I also close my eyes and try to get a sleep too.
