65 Chapter 65: Sharp Words
06:13 PM 'New Haven City, Infinity Island:
Arias returned with Blackfire to infinity Island some hours after leaving the café. On his way back he communicated with Dr. Veritas and told her to gather the members for the meeting that was postponed.
Upon arriving into the main building he found the members of the meeting standing around in the lobby. Arias approached Billy and put his hand on his head while asking.
"What's going on?".
Everybody present heard Arias's voice and turned towards him. Before Billy could answer though Nearítheá bolted to his side hugging him tightly
"Father! Where did you go I missed you".
Nearítheá turned her attention to the bags Blackfire was holding and recognized them.
"Oh. You went and bought clothes for me?I-it's a bit embarrassing for you to buy me clothes...but I'll try them on for you if you like".
Blackfire spoke quickly before the situation got more awkward for Arias.
"Actually these are my clothes, I was chosen to escort him today and I needed regular clothes, so he took m-"
Nearítheá didn't give her a chance to finish her explanation.
"Escort him?Your clothes?You took her shopping instead of me how could you? and you..how dare you show off in my face ugh? I'm leaving".
Nearítheá's eyes were glowing red as she pouted at her father before pointing her finger at Blackfire with an "I will murder you while you sleep look". She even began to leak some of her aura, so Arias reluctantly stepped in.
"Nearítheá Adriel"
His voice shook the building and made Nearítheá withdraw her aura with a bit of fright on her face. Her father never raised her voice at her.
'Her nature may become a problem if she's always this easily angered'
"Don't blow things out of proportions, getting worked up over something this minor just means you are still lacking in controlling yourself, work on that, or I will".
Nearítheá held her head down and took her scolding silently nodding at her father's words.
"S-sorry Father I will go work on this now".
Nearítheá wore an expressionless face and walked out of the lobby.
Arias nodded at Billy who nodded back before following her.
However once they got out of sight.
"Argh!!!! THAT BITCH!!! SHE MADE FATHER SCOLD ME!!! SHE'LL SEE WHAT AM CAPABLE OF!!!".
Billy rushed after the raging Nearítheá.
"W-wait where are you going the training hall is that way?"
Nearítheá didn't look and kept flying forward.
"THE SUN!!".
Billy cursed his bad luck and spoke.
"But big brother said I should go with you and-".
Cutting off the helpless Nearítheá shouted one last time before vanishing.
"NO!! I DON'T CARE!!".
Billy soon reappeared back in the lobby and looked at Arias while smiling awkwardly.
"She's working on it... in private".
Arias could only sigh after all everyone heard her shouting. Some had smiles on their face others were neutral. As for Blackfire she stood close to Arias tugging his shirt.
"Uh will I be okay?".
"Probably"
Arias said casually. Blackfire could only gulp but was eased of her worry.
"I will calm her down. A child shouldn't make a scene in front of her parents"
A lovely voice resounded in the lobby as a beautiful white haired woman appeared in the lobby.
"Oh? How come everyone is standing here I thought you had all proceeded to the conference room?."
Another beautiful woman appeared but with purple hair soon after and asked curiously.
No one gave an answer leaving Arias wondering. But luckily for him Billy cleared his curiosity.
"Um Madame Àpeiro said she would wait till you got here before entering the conference room. After that no one moved".
Arias let out a smile after knowing the reason. He was about to say they head to the conference room when someone caught his attention.
"Artemis? I wasn't told you were here. Is something bothering you?".
Arias question was directed at the blonde-haired with an unamused expression on her face. Artemis turned to him but instead of happiness she seemed angry. She walked a few steps forward and voiced her displeasure.
"Bothering me? Everything here bothers me, How's someone supposed to feel when the man they love has women galore around him. I thought you considered me special or something or even loved me. Couldn't you have just loved me? I would have done anything for you! But no I was just another conquest, huh? A bed warmer?. God I'm an Idiot. Well are you gonna say anything?".
Artemis glared at Arias while breathing heavily.
Arias tilted his head slightly and sighed. His face emotionless but his gray eyes had a certain shine in them as he began to speak.
"You say that like I asked you to love me. I never asked you to love me nor did I ask to care for you. These are things even I can't control. I knew your past and saw how people treated you and I thought you deserved better, so I did what I could to help. But I never asked for anything in return."
"I gave you care of my own will, so I didn't ask for anything in return nor did I tell you to change who you are for me. The love you ask for is something I can't give. The only love that has ever reached me was that of a loving mother who did everything for her weak helpless son"
"I care about the people I hold dear, but I do not and will not love anyone else. People who love each other can also betray each other, Kill each other or even worse. People who love each other are capable of the same things people who don't are. I promised myself to never love, not until I return the love that I owe. I would treat those I care for like they have never been before. But I, too, have my flaws, whether or not you accept them, is up to you".
"A king with many wives or man with only one it doesn't matter. What matters is the connection or compassion, the understanding of one another and the loyalty. Either one is capable of achieving both. There is no right or wrong. We were born alone and die alone. So in the end it's up to you to choose how you live, and I've made my choice. I've met amazing people on my journey that I care for deeply. But I never once told them to become my woman. Why? Because I know if they asked me to be their man I could not fulfill it."
"If you choose to become mine it means you accept me for who I am on your own accord if not then that is also fine."
"But let me make one thing clear everyone is free to have a life of their own should they want it. But they should not expect to receive the same care I gave as before."
"If you wish to go find the perfect man who will treat you perfectly in every way go ahead. But never return to me..."
Arias finished speaking and left towards the conference room.
Àpeiro smiled and began to walk in Arias's direction but turned back and looked at Artemis.
"Though I find it unnecessary to say this, a part of me feels I should. Arias is very different from your average man. You think you're the only one who cares for him...then you're clearly more blinded by emotions than I thought. What qualifies you to ask for his love when even I, the mother of his child dare not to. I know of all he has experienced. The pain, the happiness and uncaring for whether he lived or died. But that changed when came here. He refused to die now, he forged bonds and met people dear to him."
"You who doesn't know a shred of his past or what kind of person he is dares to say they love him?... He treated you differently from everyone else and made you feel special but so what? That is the kind of person he is, he treats people he thinks deserve it with care. I who knows him better than anyone, understands him better than anyone and will face everything and do everything for him still did not ask for his love. Because I accepted him for who he is as he accepted me for who I was. I only asked he not abandon me because he means everything to me."
If it were up to me, I would destroy all that exists and live the remainder of my days stroking his hair as we watch the sunset over the world we destroyed together. If any of you think you deserve to be the only woman Arias should care for...then look me in the eyes and say it".
