21 Chapter 21

POV Change- Sansa Stark (13):

I was finally in the capital, and I couldn't be happier everything I had dreamed about in the past was coming true, first my father was now the second most powerful man in Westeros as 'Hand of the King' and I was finally betrothed to the prince of the 7 kingdoms, and I was going to be his queen and give him lots of princes and little princesses in the future.

Today I was finally going to witness a tourney where knights from all over the land were going to gather to compete in celebration of my father becoming 'Hand', this was the happiest I have ever been. When I finally got to the viewing seats for the joust, I couldn't help tremble in excitement in seeing all the knights fight valiantly for honour and fame. My heart beats faster just thinking about it.

Sitting next to my sister I watched with joy as the knights of the land charged and fought valiantly when I looked to the side of the field, I couldn't help the gasp that escaped my mouth as I watched a giant approach on horseback.

"Don't worry my lady, that would be the mountain a loyal bannerman to Tywin Lannister and currently the biggest and strongest man in the known world if you believe the stories told in the Westerlands."

I heard Petyr Baelish say from beside me, I didn't know how to feel about the strange man as he first introduced himself as a close friend of mothers who grew up with each other and as a fellow member alongside father who sat on the council of the kings as the 'Master of Coin'. I didn't know what to say so I gave the man a small of acknowledgment as I watched the 'Mountain' salute the king before riding of to challenge the other knight who left in the opposite direction.

Looking at the royal pavilion to catch a glimpse of my beloved prince and where I would one day sit in the future, I caught sight of the eldest prince as he sat with his legs crossed and his head resting on his fist as he leaned to one side. As I looked closer at the man, I couldn't help but marvel at the sight of him, his figure imposing even as he sat there doing nothing. His fine clothes made from the finest silk in the known world but even his amazing clothes did little to hide the power hidden undeath it all, I could see his muscles try to escape his clothes as they bulged and showed that the prince truly was a warrior blessed by the gods themselves.

I flinched and jumped in my seat a little as the eldest prince cast hiss gaze in my direction and squinted his eyes a little, I couldn't tell what he was thinking but I knew it couldn't be anything good as I remembered what my beloved Joffrey had told me about the prince and from what Arya said about him I knew that the only thing that would ever please the eldest prince was war and the death of others. Remembering what my beloved told me I knew that hidden under that beautiful appearance was a demon that lived and relished in the misery of others, and I shouldn't be fooled by what I saw, and others said of the prince because no matter what others say I knew from Joffrey that what lay under the skin of the Prince Alexander was a demon.

Looking back to the joust that was about begin I watched as the knight and beast charge at one another, and I hoped for the knight from the Vale to win and as I watched the knight break his lance on the giant's body, I couldn't control the joy I felt as I applauded the knight and thought he would win after the next charge. I watched as they got new lances and once again charged at each other when suddenly the giant thrusted his lance forward and it broke on the knight's body but not before sending the poor knight flying of his horse unseating him.

As he knights body hit the ground had we got a clear sight of the splinter in his neck as a pool of blood formed but everything went silent as we all tried to figure out what happened when the knight suddenly choked and then someone screamed followed by others as I just sat there in silence watching a man die in front of me.

"Has anyone told you about the story of the 'Mountain' and the 'Hound'?"

I heard someone ask from beside me as I watched the giant smile at his work before walking off. In a daze I shook my head as I couldn't believe I had watched a someone be killed, and nothing was done as everyone just watched on.

"It is a rather brutal story of two brothers," he whispered in my ear as if it were something no one should hear him say.

'Wait those two are brothers? But then again two monsters being siblings makes sense but then what had my beloved don to be cursed with a brother like Prince Alexander?'

"Gregor a big lad for his age and already making a name for himself, some boys are just born with a talent for violence, came home one day and saw his little brother Sandor playing with one of his toys a toy knight and didn't like what he saw… so without a word he walked up to his brother and held his face down on the burning hot coals and held him down as his brothers face melted."

I was speechless as I listened to the story and I couldn't believe what I heard, I couldn't imagine how someone could do that to their family and as I thought of my own relationships with my siblings I thought of how Arya and I fought all the time, but I couldn't imagine doing something like that to her for a toy or any reason for that matter. Only a monster could do such a thing…

"That's not a story many people know…"

"I won't tell anyone, I promise." I said quickly in a panic, this was the first person to show me trust in the capital and I didn't want to lose that.

"Oh, please don't, if the 'Hound' heard you telling anyone that story then I am afraid not even all the knights in the capital could save you," he said to me after hearing my promise not to tell anyone.

After hearing that I looked back at the royal pavilion where the royal family was seated, I looked at the man that was known as the 'Hound' and I stared at his scares and his big build and thought of what Petyr Baelish had told me and I thought back to the eldest prince and everything I was told and heard of him.

"What about Prince Alexander?" I asked him.

"Well, if rumours are anything to go by then there isn't anyone alive who can best the prince, but I think the more important question is whether or not the prince will even have a reason to help save you. Afterall if you were to die by the hands of the 'Hound' war would erupt between the Westerlands and the North." He explained

'War is the only thing he lives for after all so I don't think he would save me even if he could.'

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was the second day of the jousting, and my father was finally here seated alongside with me and my sister, I had asked him why he we weren't with the king in the royal viewing pavilion since he was hand, and I was betrothed to the next king of Westeros and all he said was that it was better for us not to intrude upon the royal family and I didn't understand, I mean I was going to be queen.

Soon we were watching the matches take place and it was just as exciting as they were the previous day and this time the giant didn't kill anyone, so things were going well, and everyone seemed to be in a festive mood even father seemed more relaxed as we watched the matches proceed and the knights advance to the next stages.

Then it was finally time for the finals of the jousts, it was the giant and the fair knight from the Reach, Ser Loras Tyrell of High Garden…

Watching him ride around the tourney grounds and wave at everyone I grew happier as he rode closer and as he reached us my heart almost stopped when he presented a flower to me and then he said something but all I could think about was how sweet his voice sounded and then I had to watch him ride off to face the giant and I grew scared for him when I remembered what happened yesterday.

"Please father you must save him, you can't let him die please, please father. That monster is going to kill him, you can't let him." I begged him with all my might as tears were forming in my eyes.

"Hush now child, Ser Loras is an excellent knight he won't die beside the king and Prince Alexander won't allow him to die no matter what." My farther told me in a reassuring tone as he stroked my head that was buried into his side.

When I finally gained my courage after father's soothing, I watched as the two lined upped in front of the king to solute him and was once again disgusted by the man as he drunkenly dismissed to the two. Watching them ride to their opposite sides I hoped Ser Loras would triumph over the giant and name me his Love and Beauty.

I watched as the signal was given and the two finally charged at each other as Ser Loras challenged the giant that seemed unbeatable, I closed my eyes just as they were about to clash and heard their lances splinter and break as they made contact.

When I opened my eyes and saw Ser Loras was okay and still seated on his horse, I couldn't help but be swept up in the cheers of the people and stood up shouting my support for him. Looking at the opposite end I watched as the giant struggled with his horse as it seemed even the animal knew that Ser Loras was meant to come out victorious in this competition.

As they once again charged at each other we watched on as Ser Loras once again charged valiantly at the 'Mountain' but this time the giant's horse stopped and Ser Loras managed to unseat him as his horse almost threw the giant off it's back causing everyone to erupt into cheers.

"What's wrong with his horse?" I heard Arya ask from my side as the horse of the giant continued to act up.

"Loras knew his mare was in heat. Quite crafty, really." Lord Baelish said before I could say anything to my stupid sister.

"Ser Loras would never do that. There is no honour in tricks." I defended the valiant knight who managed to beat the giant in a fair contest.

"No, honour but quite a bit of gold."

'He would never do such a thing for gold; he was a true knight like the ones I read about growing up.'
