I woke up to some noises. As I opened my eyes, I saw that 3 maids we're already inside the room and lighting the candles around the room while a guard was overseeing all this.
I looked outside the window only to see the sun is almost at the horizon and will set in an hour.
Seeing the shifting on the bed, one of the maids looked at me and said" young Lord you are awake. Did you have some good rest? Should I bring anything for you to eat or drink?"
The one who asked me was Lily. She was my mother's maid. My mother took her in when she was young. She practically raised me alongside my mother.
I looked at her tired face. In the candlelight I was able to see the puffed up eyes.
'It seems like my mother's death also hit her very hard.'
"Bring me some hot water I want to wash up. I feel a bit lethargic." I said to her.
She nodded and instructed the other maid to do as I said. She came towards me and cupped my face in her palms and asked " Are you alright young lord? Remember I will always be a call away if you ever need me. I know it must be very hard losing a mother I have experienced the same pain when I was younger. Lady Rheana was there for me when I needed someone the most. And I would like to be there for you just like your mother. She was a very kind person and she loved you very much. This brought a small smile on Lily's face as she ruffled my hair.
