"This... what in the world is this?"

As he looked over the green transparent screen in front of him, Arthur was shocked. Even though he was getting on in years, he still played some video games and even read some light novels occasionally when he was on the bus. Although he wasn't particularly into the video game genre or cultivation, he had still seen it before, and he was already getting excited.

A world where you could make use of the natural qi in the air, which is a type of energy, to strengthen yourself and maybe even eventually become a god, that was what cultivation was.

What he gathered from this panel was that this was a world of cultivation, and since he had this system, he could guess that he would be able to cultivate in the future. Not only that, but since it listed his age as 21, he assumed that he was still in his old body, just that he had been brought back to his youth. Before he could think too much about anything, the monotone voice of the system started talking again.

[Redeem welcome package?]

[Yes/No]

Arthur naturally didn't really need to consider anything, as he instinctively chose yes.

[Received Thunderfire Sword Art x 1, Purple Thunder Manual x 1, Blue Jade Sword x 1, points x 50, elementary knowledge card x 1]

Although he knew that this was a world of cultivation, he didn't expect to get cultivation techniques just like that when he had just arrived.

"System, use the elementary knowledge card."

Although he wasn't sure that was how it was supposed to be used, he was soon welcomed by a mild headache. Accompanying the headache was a plethora of knowledge regarding the world he had just arrived in. According to the knowledge he had gained, he was currently in a forest located in the far southern reaches of the Purple Thunder Continent.

Although the headache was a little annoying, he was overjoyed with the knowledge he gained. If he was supposed to navigate this world without any sort of knowledge about it, he was afraid that he might die before he even got the chance to grow stronger at all. Before he did anything else, he decided to learn the cultivation technique he got.

With the system, he had gotten an inventory, where everything that he had gotten was currently stored. With a few thoughts, he selected the Purple Thunder Manual in the inventory.

[Would you like to learn the Purple Thunder Manual(Mid-Earth)]

[Yes/No]

Once again, he naturally selected yes, and the entire Purple Thunder Manual swiftly entered his mind.

In his cultivation technique section, Purple Thunder Manual(Earth) quickly appeared. If he focused on it further, its current level also appeared, which was listed as level 0. This was because he hadn't actually cultivated the technique yet. Next to the cultivation technique was also its grade, which was listed as Earth. In the elementary knowledge card, the grades of cultivation techniques were imprinted in Arthur's mind.

From low to high, the grades of cultivation techniques were as follows: Mortal, Mystical, Earth, Heaven, Saint and lastly Divine. Artifacts were also divided into the same grade. The Blue Jade Sword that Arthur had just gotten for example would fall into the mortal category. These techniques and artifacts can also be further distinguished into low, mid or high tier. The Blue Jade Sword was a high-mortal grade sword.

Even though a high-mortal grade sword sounded fairly low, most people didn't even have swords that were graded as artifacts. Any mortal-grade sword would fetch a sky-high price, not to mention an earth-grade cultivation technique. The continent he was currently on was a somewhat backwater place compared to the rest of the world, and the techniques here were mostly in the mortal grade. Unless you managed to join a good sect, getting your hands on even a mystical grade cultivation technique would be practically impossible.

The purple thunder manual was actually a technique that was made by the system for Arthur, based on the continent he was currently on. Finding a technique with a higher grade would be impossible unless someone managed to get an inheritance from some other continent.

With some budding excitement, Arthur sat down cross-legged on the grass and calmed his mind. It took him a few minutes, but soon, he could feel the qi all around him. Without losing his cool, he tried his best to absorb as much qi as he possibly could, dispersing it around his body. The qi that was absorbed was naturally refined into purple thunder qi before Arthur used it to strengthen his body.

According to the purple thunder manual, Arthur just needed to use the qi in his surroundings to create purple thunder qi, before refining his body with it. This would let him step into the first realm on the long road of cultivation, Body-Refining. And after almost half an hour of hard work, Arthur could feel something fundamentally change inside of his body.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for taking his first step on the road of cultivation!]

[Obtained Body-Refining gift package x1]

Feeling the surging strength inside of his body, Arthur didn't pay much attention to the package he had just received. Without further ado, he walked straight up to the nearest tree he could find, and promptly punched it.

A loud thump could suddenly be heard in the quiet forest, however, Arthur just winced in pain. There was no dent in the tree, or a fist-sized hole. Even though he had broken through, he was only in the first stage of body-refining. There were another 8 stages following the first, and if he had the strength to punch a hole in the tree after only achieving the first, then who knows what kind of strength he would have when he arrived at the 9th stage.

Even so, Arthur was naturally still really excited. Compared to before, his strength was several times higher, and he could probably already take on multiple ordinary people all by himself. With that said, he opened up his inventory again. There were two things he could currently do, he could either learn the thunderfire sword art, or he could open up the body-refining gift package.

Even though he really wanted to immediately learn the thunderfire sword art, especially considering he was in the middle of nowhere. He felt like it was a better idea to just open up the body-refining package, maybe he would get something that he could put to better use if he used it before practising the sword art. Well, he kind of doubted it, but there's no real harm in being careful right?

[Would you like to open the package?]

[Yes/No]

As usual, he only needed a thought to press yes on the transparent screen.

[Recieved Green Cloud Pill x 1, spirit crystals x 10, Phantom Wind Movement Art]

If anyone has ideas for techniques artifacts or even characters, feel free to make suggestions, and I hope you enjoyed this little introduction.
