10 Chapter Ten: Jamie Greenhood.

"Why on earth will Valentino keep calling me for Twenty-two good times.? No this is bad" Alice wondered within herself, how did she go about this cause right now she needed to be at work, and at the same time her mom needed her right by her side.

"Alice, what's wrong.?" Jamie was amused by how grown her daughter was to say the F word like it was nothing.

" Mom.? I will be right back just give me a few minutes, I need to fix this.''Alice excused herself from the ward and went in search of a quiet aisle and dialed Valentino's number. After a few beeps, Valentino's deep chilly voice was heard.

"Why have you been ignoring my calls.?"He sounded so angry right now that he could devour an elephant just with the tone of his voice.

"I was busy with personal stuff so didn't know my phone was ringing. So how may I help you.?"Alice replied to him in a calm tone. She was already feeling exhausted just from the run to the hospital, the cries, and the hurt she felt in her heart right now.

"I am beginning to question your professionalism, cause I don't see why you should place your personal life over your work."Valentino being ignorant of the things he says just spit out without thinking.

"Excuse you.? It's only an inconsiderate blockhead like you would say such." Alice ended the call as soon as she could. She didn't want to feel intimidated by him so she only hissed and led her way back to the ward she was in.

"Are you okay dear.?" Jamie asked a bit of concern on her face.

"Yeah, sure I am fine Mom, just work."Alice wasn't certain if she should explain to her mom what variety of a job she does, she just couldn't picture the expression that would be on her mom's face. DISAPPOINTMENT or ANGER or IRRITATION. Yes, Alice's job can be irritating most times but the fact remains that Alice doesn't care at least she doesn't care for now.

"If your presence is needed in the office you can always go and come later after work"Jamie didn't want to be a burden to her daughter NEVER…

"No Mom don't worry I asked one of my close colleagues to file a one-week leave for me in place of my absence," Alice stated with a pretense smile playing on her lips, she had to think of something as soon as possible cause she wasn't best at deceiving her mom so it was quite difficult to lie about her job and stuff.

The doctor entered with a nurse at his side into the ward as the two women were discussing and came straight up to Alice

"We'll be running an x-ray test on her to be certain about her injuries and how to go about them."The doctor explained, brought out his pen and jotter and wrote something down then handed it over to the nurse behind him." Go get this." the nurse headed out as instructed.

"Can you please excuse us.?"The doctor directed those words over to Alice.

"Yeah sure, Mom I will be right outside" Jamie nodded and gave Alice an encouraging look before she closed her eyes for a deep breath.

Alice was sitting outside when Theo came back from the errands he went running, he first looked deeply into Alice's face just to be sure that she was fine and she was okay. Theo was a bit grateful for that he smiled to himself before he approached Alice

"Hey, how is she doing.?"Theo sat next to Alice on the couch.

"The doctor said they should run an x-ray on her and that's what they are doing "Alice was too weak to say more than she already did.

Theo saw how exhausted she looked and offered her his lap to rest on for just a few minutes before the text was over. She took the bid knowing the validity that she really ought to get some rest. Alice lay peacefully on Theo's lap. She slept like her life depended on it, which shows how infertile she was. Theo only made sure that nothing disturbed Alice from her sleep.

Minutes passed into an hour and finally, the doctor was out of the room Theo had to shake Alice up and she woke up immediately she heard some footsteps hovering towards them.

" Is she okay.?"Alice advanced over to the doctor and asked.

"Yes, she's okay though she has some old tough wounds which make it a bit difficult to recover fast from this but with time she will." The doctor tried to leave but halted in his tracks and then turned to face Alice once again" She should avoid any more injuries for now until she heals completely and she should be allowed to rest more. It will help." With this being declared the doctor zoomed out of sight with the nurse right behind him.

Alice rushed back into the ward, While Theo followed suit. Jamie was sitting on her mattress when they entered "Hey Theo you are back.?"She smiled at Theo and he did return the smile.

"Am back Mrs, Jamie how do you feel.?" Theo came closer to where she sat and started to bring out the things he had bought on his way.

"I'm getting better, don't you think.?" she teased.

Alice fed her mom the porridge Theo had brought earlier and ate the side dishes Theo had made for her which she was so grateful for cause she didn't know how hungry she was not until She perceived the aroma of her mom's food Theo only laughed at her reaction before he brought out her's, she felt so happy to have someone like Theo at that moment.

Once they were done eating, Alice helped her mom to lay down well on the mattress" Mom, have some rest." Jamie nodded her head in response and rested her head on the pillow.

" Alice.?" Jamie looked at her daughter with satisfaction in her eyes.

"Yes Mom"

"What would I have done without you.?"Alice didn't want to cry anymore so she held back her tears instead she let out a hearty laughter. Just as they were still in their moment the door was banged open.

" Hello, Miss. Alice Greenhood."
