Talented Me! 28

Daisy came back with the totally-new-definitely-not-planned cat, and mom instantly fell in love.

"Look at him! He's got the prettiest white fur and pink little paw pads. Look at his eyes! What a brilliant shade of blue!" The moment she saw the cat, she couldn't stop raining praises.

"My, aren't you the cutest thing. Yes, yes you are. Who's the cutest little cat ever? It's you!"

She reached out and picked up 5025 nestling him in her arms. Peppering him in kisses, she squeezed poor 5025 into her embrace.

Daisy walked over to Mrs. May half worried, half afraid. As a frequent cat cafe customer, that was no way to handle a cat! The poor kitty was going to be hugged to death!

"Mrs. May," Daisy called out. "I don't think that's how you should hold the cat. It might-"

5025 held it in for its Host, but it was uncomfortable to be in Mrs. May's arms. She held it tightly as if it was a stuffed animal! Which, although it admitted to not being a cat biologically and physically as cute as one, it didn't want to be treated as one! And it hurts! It could feel its poor rib cage being crushed to bits...

As a last and final resort, 5025 used all its energy to squeeze out of her arms and jumped down. Luckily, for its system magic and lithe cat feet, 5025 landed soundly. Not wasting half a second of effort, it dashed to hide behind Avina.

'Host! Save me!! Mom is going to squish me to death!' Its cries of protest only sounded as cute meows towards their ears.

Mom, shocked by the grand cat escape, followed 5025's small paw prints until Wilona's feet. "Aw! Look at him! He already likes Wilona so much."

Avina picked up her poor abused system cat and petted it. 5025 calmed down and let out happy meows. "I guess he does like me."

"What should we name him? Sapphire? Snowy?" Mom asked. "He's too cute!"

'What do you want your name to be?' Avina asked 5025. She wanted 5025 to choose its own name.

'But don't I already have a name?' Isn't 5025 its name?

'Then, your cat name. You need one as a cat,' Avina suggested.

5025 thought long and hard. It had to be cool! Just like its Host! And pretty! Just like its Host! But most importantly, something super extra special!

'Frosty! I want to be called Frosty!'

At the sound of its chosen name, Avina couldn't help but think one or two things. Such as, the delicious ice cream from a fast-food chain or the special little snowman who could talk. (Which, we will not mention specific names or brands to preserve the rights to write.)

'Alright, Frosty.' Regardless, Avina liked 5025's chosen name. It was cool, cute, and special.

Avina kissed the top of 5025's head. "Frosty. I think his name should be Frosty."

The door opened and a loud shout interrupted their cat-loving triangle.

"I'm home!" Derrick shouted. His shoes thrown at the doorway vividly heard in the kitchen. "Do we have guests? There's like 4 other pairs of shoes here."

Mom walked out of the kitchen seeing Derrick. He ruffled his hair and used his other hand to wipe a smudge of dirt off his chin.

"Yes. Wilona brought some friends over." Mom grabbed his coat, shook the dirt off, and hung it by a hook. "Quickly wash up so we can have dinner. I'm sure they're all starving in there."

Derrick laughed before scurrying towards the bathroom. As he passed the kitchen, he noticed Wilona, a girl, and a white cat.

"Nice to meet you! You must be Wilona's friend." Derrick waved and smiled. "Is that your cat?"

"Actually, it's officially our cat," Mom walked over and corrected him.

Derrick whipped his head around in total shock. "You got us a cat!? Then, what about the dog I begged for the last 5 years!?"

Derrick had always dreamed about having "a man's best friend", AKA a dog, but Mom would not let him. He could only sulk in the corner while drawing circles wondering, "Why can't I have a dog? A dog is so cute and lovable. A dog is so…" His thoughts running full circles of questions, but merciless, Mom rejected his advances.

"Well, Frosty is cute," Mom defended.

"Dogs can be cute too!"

"Not as cute as Frosty."

Knocking at the door interrupted their argument. Mom turned around leaving Derrick to continue sulking. This time, he changed his sulking corner to be in the bathroom.

"Hi, I'm Sandra. One of Wilona's friends," a feminine voice introduced herself.

Avina quickly headed towards the door as well. Standing at the doorway, the perfect Sandra neatly introduced herself. In her arms was a lovely light caramel-colored cat staring arrogantly.

Sandra noticed Wilona walking towards her and gave a little wave. She pointed towards Toffee and gave a small wink.

"My, I didn't expect Wilona to know someone so beautiful," Mom complimented. Sandra was only wearing casual clothes, but she wore them as if they were designer clothes. (Avina would not be surprised if it was though)

Sandra laughed not expecting a surprise compliment. "You flatter me. Instead, I think you are the beautiful one."

"Wilona! Sandra is here!" Mom called out. Turning around, she bumped into Wilona. "Scared me! Didn't even make a sound when you walked."

"You were so busy admiring Sandra to even notice me," Wilona rolled her eyes. Mom gave a small smack at her teasing.

"Hi! That's Toffee, right?" Wilona pointed at the cat in her arms. "This is Frosty! I'm sure they'll be the greatest of friends!"

Although Sandra expected a white cat, she never thought he would be so handsome.

White fur pure as snow and iridescent icy blue eyes. Frosty looked at Sandra with eyes pure of curiosity and innocence. His body rests peacefully in Wilona's arm obediently. A small bell collar hung on its neck jiggling at his every movement.

"I've never seen such an adorable cat."

Toffee perked its ear at her compliment. Turning its attention to 5025, it squinted its eyes. Annoyed, it meowed loudly attracting the attention of Sandra. Regaining its owner's attention, it proudly showed off to the other nobody-cat.

While Toffee was boasting of its abilities, 5025 could care less. All it wanted was to help its Host, and if that meant befriending a conceited cat, then so be it. 5025 sacrificed its small body and meowed hello.

Toffee snorted and stuffed its head in Sandra's arms. There was no way it was going to be friends with this nobody-cat!

Sandra poked its pudgy belly and scolded it. "Now, be nice. Frosty wants to be friends with you."

Turning to Wilona, she said, "I'm sorry about Toffee."

"It's fine. Let's let the two play together. Frosty is a friendly cat."

Daisy, who waited in the kitchen for a while, got bored and peeked at the front door. Upon seeing the famous Sandra, she squeaked. Quickly, she covered her mouth and hid behind the corner again.

Never had she expected to see Sandra! The living celebrity of this era! The crowned Queen of Modeling! And she was friends with Wilona!?

It was all too much to take in at once, and Daisy didn't know how to handle this situation.

Avina had already been paying attention to Daisy the moment she walked to Sandra. After all, her family may not follow the latest trends or pay attention to stars, but most people did. One, being her friends. So even though Daisy thought she hid herself nicely, Avina saw it all.

"Daisy! Come here!" Avina called out.

Daisy peeked out from the corner and froze stiff. She didn't think she would be caught so quickly!

"Say hi to Sandra," Avina laughed. It was cute how Daisy acted.

Daisy struggled to let out any sound; all that came out were small squeaks. Her idol was standing right in front of her, and she could even say hi personally!

In between her words, a small squeak cut it off. The more it happened, the more Daisy felt a blush rising. She had embarrassed herself in front of THE Sandra!

Sandra let out a small chuckle at the cute Daisy. "Hello, Daisy. Seems you know about me."

Daisy looked up ecstatically before nodding furiously. Of course, she knew Sandra! It would be weird to not know her!

"What? Is Ms. Sandra a celebrity?" Mom joked. Unknowingly, her words hit the nail on the head.

A couple of footsteps patted the ground. Soon, a small crowd of people arrived at the door. Eli, Ben, and Gina waited in the room for so long they got bored. Sighing for the Nth time, they finally decided to go out and see what happened.

"Good! Everyone is here," Mom clapped her hands together and said. "Your Dad will be a little late today, so we'll have dinner right now. I think the stew is ready."

Mom rushed back into her kitchen and busied herself preparing the dishes.

"Sandra!?" Ben called out. His eyes bulged looking at the real-life Sandra in front of him. "Are you really Sandra!? Oh my gosh, I'm such a big fan. I've seen all your movies and shows and follow you on all social media accounts."

Ben rushed forward and shook her hand. Like a classic fanboy, he gushed about how he loved her so much, her greatness, and how he was a major fan.

"Ben boy, step back," Gina grabbed his collar and pulled him back. "You're scaring her!"

Ben glared at Gina and let go of Sandra's hand. "Sorry about that. I was just a little excited. I'm Ben."

"And I'm Gina. Also a big fan of yours."

"Eli. I like your work."

"Hello, Ben, Gina, and Eli. I'm Sandra." Sandra politely smiled. As expected, they were definitely Wilona's friends. So sweet and lovable.

Mom called everyone to the dining table. Grabbing a few foldable chairs, Mom and Wilona sat in those. The good chairs were left for the others to choose from. Gina refused at first, but seeing Wilona's mom adamantly pushing the chair at Gina, she couldn't refuse her politeness.

"Eat as much as you want! There is still plenty of food," Mom urged. She started the meal prayer and then told everyone to eat.

Everyone started to dig in tasting the food in front of them. The more they ate, the more they couldn't help but ask for more. The food was delicious!

With 7 people eating, the food decreased quickly. By the time Derrick came out from his shower, the plates were empty.

"Aw come on," Derrick complained. A loud rumble of his belly supported his complaints. "Couldn't even leave a bone for me?"

"Don't worry, there's still more." Mom pointed towards the huge pot on the stove. "Help yourself, Derrick."

The more I write, the more I realize something. I suck at advancing the plot... I like descriptions too much ;-; Another part to improve on :) Thank you for reading!
