Flashbacks (5 years ago.)

Giuseppe was holding the two weeks old baby in his arms in a hospital corridor waiting to hear anything about his mother who was inside the OR. He kept rocking the wailing baby in his arms, trying to get her to stop crying, and looking towards the door that separates him from his adoptive mother every now and then.

The corridor- the whole floor where Emma and Müller were kept in was filled with bulky men in dark suits, each one standing in a stiff protective position, monitoring the surroundings for any potential threat. No one was allowed inside the corridor Giuseppe and Gisela were in, much less the operating theatre where their bosses lay, only the medical team that was in charge of them was authorised.

Giuseppe didn't know what to do to his crying baby sister to make her stop, she was continuously crying from the moment she woke up in the ambulance until now, nothing he did helped calming her down. It was as if she felt the danger her mother was in.

The little boy didn't know how to cope with all this, he himself was scared to death. Emma's last words kept ringing in his ears like a broken record.

"Promise me to take care of your sister and protect her if something happened to me." Emma urged her son as she handed him a sleeping Gisela.

"Mom!" Giuseppe said crying as he watched Müller running towards the voices that were coming closer and closer by the second to distract them while Emma hide her children.

"Listen to me, son. I may not come back from this, from the voices approaching I can tell they're too many for me and Müller to deal with them alone and unarmed, and if I do come out of this alive I may not be the same as before which means that Ela is your responsibility. I want you to promise me to take care of her and protect her like a brother would." Emma told her son, her tone scared the little boy even more than he already was. "If something happened to me and Müller, press this button." She handed him a small device from her pocket with a fury red button in the centre. "If you do, someone will come to pick you up, go with him and lay low until you're sure you're strong enough to protect yourself and your sibling. He will help you continuing your training, but you must never reveal yourself or Gisela until you're sure you're capable of protecting the both of you. And, son, trust no one. Only the man who's going to pick you up, he's one of us. The Crawlers will stay dormant until you're ready to be crowned, he will make sure their loyalty stays with you, do you understand, son?" Emma asked her trembling son.

"Y- yes, I do." Giuseppe nodded his head furiously, barely controlling his sobs.

"Good boy! Remember, until you're ready do not let a soul know who you and Gisela are. Not even Adam." When the boy nodded once again, Emma continued. "Don't let the mafia life consume you son, be the one to control it, don't let it control you. Once you've reached eighteen, the man will give you something to help you start your own business, but do it discreetly. Until you're sure your business is stable, don't reveal yourself as the owner. Consider this man as your right hand man and count on him like you would do me." She told him.

"Mom, can you not go?" Giuseppe asked her as he held her sleeve with his free hand. His eyes desperately pleading with her to stay.

"I can't let Müller face them alone, I have to return his loyalty gesture." Emma told him, and moved closer to him to hug him and Gisela one last time. "Take care of yourself and your sister. I love you both so much." She said as a lone tear slid down her cheek.

"Wait! Mom, I'm not sure I can do it." Giuseppe held her sleeve tightly as she moved to go.

"I'm sure you can, you're my brave and smart son. I'm sure you'll be the perfect brother, just believe in yourself." Emma assured him. "Hide well, and don't move out until you're sure they're all gone. They're searching for me so once they get me, they'll retreat." She said and gave them both one last hug before she sprung into action.

Giuseppe watched as his mother's sudden presence attracted half of the men attention and run towards her with their weapons in hands, lessening the burden on Müller.

He watched as Emma and Müller fought the men like the professional martial artists they were, until Emma suddenly lost balance when one man hit her back with a thick stick, bringing her to her knees from the intensity of the pain which gave another one the perfect angle and opportunity to smash her head with another stick. Emma caught her head in her hands and moaned in pain.

Giuseppe knew that the hit she got was a lot more severe to be expressed with a mere moan, but he also knew his adoptive mother he came to know would not give her enemies the satisfaction of hearing her screaming from pain they caused her.

Moments later a gun shot was heard, and his eyes landed on the bullet hole in his mother stomach.

Emma came tumbling down, hitting her already injured head, hard.

Müller who was a couple feet away fighting another army on his own, snapped his head towards Emma's direction when he heard the gun shot, he got rid of the few men that were still surrounding him in a blink and came running to her side just as she hit the floor. He held her head up and put it on his lap, his hand going to her cheek, tapping it lightly in attempt to wake her up but in vain.

When all his attempts to wake her up failed, he checked her pulse only to put her head back down on the floor few moments later, and springing towards the trio who caused her current state. His eyes blazing with uncontrollable fury.

However before he could reach them a bullet pierced his chest causing him to collapse few inches away from Emma.

"Since you're so loyal, why not follow her to grave." Laughed the one who shot him as he watched him losing consciousness.

Giuseppe went to put his little sleeping sister down and make his presence known, but Gisela's grip prevented him from going anywhere, and he didn't want her to wake up yet, so he waited until the men left the building before he pressed the button his mother told him to.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Few minutes later the same building was filled with men in dark suits, only this time the guy heading them was so familiar to Giuseppe that the latter had to blink to make his eyes weren't playing tricks with him.

"Young master!" The same guy came running to Giuseppe who was still trying to get his brain to process all these events that seem to come at once.

"Sam?" Giuseppe asked, he wanted to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him.

"Yes, young master." The guy answered.

"Aren't you supposed to be dead?" Asked Giuseppe.

"I have your mother to thank for that." Smiled the man affectionately at the little boy who was holding his still sleeping new born sister.

A/N

Hey, lovelies!

Here's another update.

So anyone remembers this Sam? And why Giuseppe assumed he was dead?

The next update is most probably the last one of the flashbacks, I'm not sure yet though because I intended on finishing them today but there's still somethings left that I have to include.

Anyways, hope you enjoy the chap.

Until next time, happy reading.
