Three Thieves

"This is the place?"

Michael stood on the street corner of his told destination. He looked out over the widdled-down streets. People were hanging on walls, sitting on benches, running up and down the streets. But at this part of town, the sights and people weren't as abundant, so this was usual.

Michael walked up and down the street. The four-lined lights, one by one, the road lit up in the late evening dew. He stopped at a black and silver car. He looked up at the tall looming light shining down on its metallic run-down coat.

"This is the car?" he asked himself.

A hand grasped him around the shoulder.

"You bet it is kid."

"It's yo- I didn't think you would actually come?"

"But you showed up," commented Yanka with a grin.

"I... I did..."

"You sure did. Now we'll get to your job shortly, but before we start, just wait in the driver's seat of the car."

"The driver's seat?"

Michael looked at the dusted crummy front seat. He looked at the ripped steering wheel and the stained glass window.

"Um, ok... But where are we going? Do you have an agency or something?"

"Yeah, something like that."

He turned around as another man in the same black tight tux appeared with a silver briefcase. He waved to Michael. Michael waved back.

"Ok, well be back in..." Yanka looked at his watch, "ten minutes."

---

Five minutes later and Michael is still sitting in the driver's seat of some random strangers car. He reflected on the rearview mirror.

"What am I doing?! I really just trusted some old guy I met on the street, I'm crazy, psycho. Why did I come to this city? God damn, I'm so easy trusting. What's wrong with me. This is such a bad idea. This could be bait. What if their gonna rob me. What if they-

Ring-ring-ring!

The tall monolithic museum surrounded by tall glass skyscrapers started ringing a bright red alert. He looked at the front entrance.

Smash!

Yanka and the other similarly-looking fellow from early smashed through the two eight-foot doors. They wore heavy black ski masks and were covered in dust and blood.

Yanka opened up the passenger side door and slid in as his friend entered in the back. He tossed the white box onto the dashboard.

"What... What the... What just happened? Did you two just-"

"Drive!" commanded Yanka.

Michael looked back at Yanka's friend. He looked at his briefcase, his silenced pistol. The cop's sirens erupting down the street.

"I... I... I can't!" shook Michael in fear.

"Just drive-"

"Shut up Yanka! He's afraid, we need to motivate him."

Yanka's friend pointed the silenced gun up to Michael's head.

"If you don't drive, we shoot."

He pressed down on the gas and blazed down the street. People's eyes, stares, glares. The blood, the suits, the guns, the black ski masks.

As they drove down the road Michael kept glaring back and forth. The sweat running down his face as the silenced pistol pressed harder against his head.

"Keep your eyes on the road kid," commanded Yanka's friend.

Yanka leaned back as the cop sirens slowly caught up.

"See it worked out in the end."

"Yeah, except you brought a kid to be a getaway driver."

Yanka shook his head as he looked at Michael's sweating nervousness, "it's hard to get a good getaway driver in this city. They're all scared of Astra. It's either you get a crazy psycho, or you get a new kid on the block. And this way we're not splitting it three-ways."

"Yanka, we're not splitting it anyway. It's a joint share bitch!"

Michael quickly glanced over at the perfectly clear white box on the dashboard.

He then asked brazenly, "what did you guys steal from the museum?"

"What did we steal?"

Yanka's friend laughed, "he doesn't know what we stole, he really is new to the city! That's hilarious!"

Yanka leaned over and whispered into Michael's ear, "you see the white box... That's not just some art piece. It's a nuke."

"A NUKE!"

Meanwhile, on East North Street, between Tenth and Ninth Ave. In a large penthouse, that stared over the city. Two mysterious strangers stood glaring at a small antenna and radio box. They watched as it displayed the locations of crimes, that were happening in real-time.

The tall, yellow-haired man, in a short yellow blazer, and long yellow pants, leaned forward over the device. He tapped on its glass screen.

"Can this thing go any faster?" he questioned aggressively.

A curly black-haired lady sitting on a couch on the other end of the penthouse picked up a tv remote and turned on the large flat screen tv. She wore a black suit, thin black suit pants, a long black tie, and a white undershirt. She looked very professional compared to the spiky-haired man yelling at an outdated radio.

"Slow your horses, Zue. If you become too impatient, then your just gonna miss it."

Suddenly on the tv, an emergency message appeared. It said: [Emergency: Museum Robbery on West Lots Street. Suspected items robbed: The White Rose]

The black-haired woman stood up in distress at the name White Rose.

"Zue, get over here."

"What is it, Yin? Gonna make fun of me again?"

He looked at the tv, as it displayed the chase on live television.

"That's across town."

She pointed at the name White Rose, "that name, doesn't it sound familiar?"

"Yeah, I think it was in the Black Book... The Black Book... The Black Book! Yin that's bad. That's in the Black Book!"

She sat back down, her eyes pulsating a bright green glow.

"Yeah of course it is bad. It's in the Black Book," she said.

Zue quickly walked over to the huge desk looking over the city. He picked up the old wired phone and dialed in a number. He turned to Yin as he slowly rang to another line.

"Yin, you go after the White Rose while I get in contact with the Boss."

She sat up wither her eyes closed, "yeah I was gonna go after it anyway. You didn't have to tell me to go."

She opened her eyes. Green glow. A bright shine.

[Teleport]

She disappeared in a sudden blip.

Zue looked out over the city as he slowly waiting for the other side to pick up. He reflected on the city. On Portsluck and its constant chaos and destruction.

"This city... It never stops."
