Chapter 14

"Feyi my dear are you alright?" The King asks as he sits down beside his granddaughter. The girl nods as she sits up on her bed and then begins to look around.

"Did you do all this for me?" she asks as the walls were painted pink and the furniture was silver to give a nice contrast. The elderly man nods with a smile.

"Your father would have done the same had he lived." He says as he gently pats the girl on her head.

"Feyisayo Esther Badmus,

Daughter of Two Kingdoms,

Descendant of the Egbas and Great Ife,

A rose with sharp thorns,

Thorns so sharp that her enemies immediately perish once pierced once,

The cat that cannot never be killed once,

The Princess who can never be caged,

A strong spirit that does not accept the wills of society,

The custodian of great wisdom,

A warrior at heart,

A lioness that does not accept defeat easily."

Feyi smiles softly and hugs the old man who chuckles and comforts her. "Pele oh my child." At that moment, a servant appears carrying a tray with a massive tub of chocolate ice cream with Dolapo right behind him.

The girl's eyes light up. "Yay!!" Dolapo dashes over to her and hugs her. "I am so sorry Feyi." he says as he breaks down in tears.

"Aww please don't cry." she says as she gently pats his back. She then lets go of him. "We will survive this together." He nods and sniffs.

The King pats Dolapo on the shoulder. "Take it easy my son." He nods as he wipes his tears. Another servant appears with a bowl and spoon for Dolapo and the King.

"Free ice cream for everyone!!" Feyi yells, earning laughs from everyone as she gives out the ice cream.

Meanwhile, Ebun seethes with anger as she paces around. How the hell does that brat keep surviving?!

She quickly calls her friend. "Change of plans."

Meanwhile Feyi walks over to her father's grave. When she was 8 years old, she remembered her mother having a nasty argument with her father's family over where he would be buried. They buried him initially in the family home in Lagos but some evil miscreants broke into the house and tried to take his body away so it was decided to rebury him in Ibadan at the Palace.

The girl kneels before the grave and sighs. "Baami. I am so sorry that all this happened to you. I am so sorry that they made you go through all this hell. " Tears flow down her eyes as memories of the past begin to return.

The fights, the excessive drama, the gaslighting, the abuse. It was all too much. Her father was just as much of a victim as his own children. She was so young then and did not understand most of what was going on until now.

Now that she knows, she often finds herself pining the blame on herself for things beyond her control. Stripped of whatever individuality she had. The many things she could have accomplished had her mother and siblings not held her back. She pauses, trying hard not to shed a tear as she had cried enough tears to last her a lifetime.

"I shall finish what you have started. I shall go out there and conquer the world and reach the heights none of your children have reached. I shall become successful and so famous that I will be so untouchable. None of my siblings nor my mother would dare ever touch me again and if they do, I will put them all back in their places. Consider this as the best form of revenge for your soul Papa."

Taking in a deep breath, she closes her eyes and mutters a silent prayer for her father's departed soul. Once she was done, she gets up and heads back inside.
