Chapter One: Truck-chan at it again!!!

Rhett's days usually followed a predictable routine. But then again, when you're the best at almost everything, life does tend to get a bit predictable.

He had just published his latest mystery novel, "The Culinary Combatant", a compelling tale about a chef who solves crime using his impeccable palate.

After a morning run of 10 miles (which he finished in record time, of course), he had decided to try his hand at swordsmanship.

"One can never be too prepared," he'd told his instructor with a smirk, twirling the blade effortlessly.

.....

Walking home, the cool evening air on his face, Rhett's mind wandered. "Maybe after sword-fighting, I could try competitive knitting. I hear it's a brutal sport," he mused to himself.

Suddenly, the ground rumbled. Rhett turned, half-expecting a movie-style explosion or a sudden alien invasion, given his streak of exciting ventures.

Instead, a sentient truck with a cheeky grin raced toward him, sporting shades and a bumper sticker that said, "Honk if you're about to be isekai'd!"

"Of all the clichés," Rhett sighed, rolling his eyes just as the world went dark.

...

When Rhett opened his eyes, he was met with a vast expanse of golden clouds and an oversized television broadcasting "One Piece". A deity, engrossed in the show, sat cross-legged munching on divine popcorn.

"Ah! Luffy's finally going to find out the truth behind that treasure!" exclaimed a voice.

"You...God?" Rhett asked, an eyebrow raised.

The deity looked up, slightly irritated. "Yeah, yeah, divine being, yada yada. Call me Devin. Truck-chan got you too, huh?"

Rhett snorted. "Truck-chan? Seriously? Is this some cosmic joke?"

Devin sighed, pausing the episode, "Yes, and usually I'd offer a lengthy monologue about life, death, and redemption, but I'm kind of in the middle of this arc. So, rebirth in another world? That's the trend these days."

"Look, I'll be honest. I've got quotas to fill. And you humans seem to love the whole rebirth-in-another-world gig."

Rhett looked unimpressed. "So, you're telling me I'm getting a redo because of a...quota?"

Devin, without looking away from the TV, replied, "Pretty much. But hey, bright side – you're going to a world just like Earth! With a few...twists. And you get to keep the name Rhett. Win-win?"

Rhett crossed his arms. "Any advice for this 'new' Earth?"

Devin pondered. "Hmm, don't eat yellow snow and avoid making deals with squirrels. They're shifty."

Rhett raised an eyebrow. "Squirrels?"

Devin simply waved his hand. "You'll see."

"But why me?" Rhett suddenly asked.

Devin shrugged, "No particular reason. Maybe it's fate? Now off you go..."

"Wait I..."

"Avada kedavra!!!"

With a sigh and a flick of Devin's wrist, Rhett was enveloped in a radiant light. The sensation of falling consumed him.

....

As he opened his eyes, he was met with the bustling sounds of a city. He found himself now as a child and in an unfamiliar apartment.

"So, another Earth," Rhett murmured, taking in the sights." Thank god that memory clichés didn't-Fuuuuuuuuuck!!!

...

Rhett's head throbbed as if it had been caught in a vice grip.

Images, memories, and feelings, all cascaded into his consciousness like an unstoppable deluge.

Each memory was vivid, like watching a movie on a high-definition screen, yet it felt alien. It was the life of someone he now was, but wasn't just moments before.

Rhett Ohara. That was him. Yet, those were also memories of someone else—a child born into luxury, and privilege, and then abruptly cast into loneliness.

His parents, powerful figures in the business world, had met a tragic end.

Rhett could feel the weight of their loss deep within him, a mourning for parents he had just gotten to know, but had known all along.

The memory of their last family vacation, the scent of his mother's perfume, the sound of his father's laughter; they were all now a part of him.

Staggering to his feet, Rhett took in his surroundings. The high-rise apartment he was in seemed too opulent for a child.

Walls lined with tasteful art, the latest tech gadgets scattered about, and an expansive view of the Minato Ward of Tokyo stretching out before him.

Pulling out the advanced-looking tablet from the table, he navigated to the date—2099. That brought a slight chuckle. "Well, at least it's not 3000," he mused.

He took a moment to browse through the internet, which had clearly advanced.

He was bombarded with bright colours, flashing advertisements, and news about the latest tech or movie releases.

But what caught his attention were the people—individuals with bright blue hair, fiery red eyes, or even floating around with wings.

The world around him seemed...animated, literally. The lines, the colours, everything felt as if he had stepped into an anime series.

"Of all the genres, I'm stuck in an anime world," Rhett sighed, running a hand through his new younger self's hair.

He hoped this world was one of those slice-of-life ones and not the kind where tentacle monsters appeared out of nowhere or dungeons manifested in the middle of the city.

....

Hours turned into days. The vastness of the apartment, combined with his isolation, only intensified Rhett's increasing loneliness.

There were no schools for him yet—maybe due to the mourning period or maybe because the world had different norms.

The staff of the building, in their tailored uniforms, would bring him his meals, often with sympathetic smiles but very little conversation.

Boredom was an enemy Rhett wasn't used to fighting. In his previous life, there was always something to do, some skill to master, some adventure to embark upon.

Here, he was a caged bird, albeit in a very gilded cage.

One evening, as the sun cast a golden hue over the city, Rhett decided he'd had enough.

He wouldn't let this new world, as strange as it was, confine him. He was still Rhett, after all, a man of action, adventure, and 1/34s Irish heritage.

He began with little things. Using the vast resources at his disposal, he learned about this world, its history, its technology, and so much more.

And now that he had a better understanding of the world it was time for him to actually explore it.
