542 Morning With the Straw Hats

"Huh?" Alex uttered as he glanced up at the seemingly empty air curiously.

"What now?" Nami asked as she checked the Chatroom alongside Robin, but neither noticed anything that might've caught Alex's attention.

"Oh, it's not the Chatroom, but my system itself. I just got a notification stating that my name had been changed." Alex explained as he looked at his new name, Alexander D. Morningstar.

"'Chatroom'? 'System'?" Kalifa asked confusedly.

"Oh yeah! Here Kalifa." Alex said as he unhesitatingly invited her to the Chatroom. Yeah, she was trying to be a double agent and feed information about him to the World Government. But Alex was pretty sure any information she gave them would be useless in the long run.

While he was doing that though, Robin looked to Alex curiously as she asked, "how can you just change your name?"

"Well..." Alex began slowly as he thought on it.

"I'm not sure of the exact requirements for the system to acknowledge the change. But when I returned to my home world one of the higher up granted me the name Morningstar, and when everyone acknowledged it my system changed my name to match it. And I guess I kinda did the same thing when I introduced myself as Alexander D. Morningstar in this world."

Though the three girls looked at him oddly as he explained that, Alex recalled with a wry smile how he had mainly been trying to scare the World Government by introducing himself as a D. Apparently it worked a little TOO well.

"Does this mean you have inherited the 'will of D'?" Robin asked with interest in her eyes.

"I doubt it." Alex answered honestly.

"As far as I'm aware the D name is passed down through certain families, and not something anyone can just claim. As for what it actually means, I don't know so I couldn't tell you." Shrugging as he said that, Alex then waved his hand to conjure a set of clothes for himself and the three lovely ladies while simultaneously styling their hair for them.

"Huh. That's neat." Nami said in a chipper voice than before as she admired herself in the nearby mirror.

"I really like this jacket." Robin exclaimed as she examined it.

"It is...convenient." Kalifa admitted when the three of them looked at her.

"But YOU certainly appear to be over dressed." Nami snorted as she looked at Alex, who was dressed simply in a pair of shorts like usual.

"What? This is what I'm used to." He said defensively, which was true since he'd had the fur for so long that he'd gotten used to not wearing any upper wear. That applied even now when he wasn't constantly in his SSJ4 form.

"Fitting for an 'emperor'." Kalifa said while adjusting her glasses, even as she looked Alex up and down. "And for sexual harassment." She added while looking away.

"REALLY!?!?!? Can we try that too?!" Luffy demanded immediately upon hearing that there was even tastier food.

"Sorry, but no." Alex answered instantly.

"Hey! Don't be stingy!" Luffy whined from being told no.

"I'm not. It's just that their best food is so good, that a single bite can make all of your clothes disappear from your body while also potentially knocking you unconscious." Alex explained, but as expected, that only made Luffy more eager to try it as he looked at Alex with stars gleaming in his eyes.

"Pft! As if there's food THAT good!" Sanji sneered in contempt at Alex, though it was probably just his jealousy talking. After all, who else but him would want to make food so good he could strip any girl that eats it with a single bite.

"Ok then. Don't say I didn't warn you." Alex said as he produced a single platter of scrambled eggs.

Luffy quickly swiped the entire platter while Sanji managed to swipe a single bite, which they both quickly ate without any hesitation.

"What smells so good?" A new voice asked that revealed itself to be Yamato.

"Hey Yama-bro!" Luffy declared as he immediately woke up.

"Hey Luffy! Hello everyone!" Yamato declared as she greeted everyone.

"Mornin Yamato. You really missed out last night." Alex said with a smirk while Nami glared at him.

"Oh, that's ok. I doubt you'd want a GUY like me interrupting you." She said with a wry smile.

But Alex just looked up and down confusedly, and asked her, "What guy? I don't see any guy around here?"

"Me!" Yamato stated irritably. "I'm talking about myself, Kozuki Oden!"

Alex just appeared more confused at her insistence as he said, "no you're not? You're definitely a girl, not a guy."

"Yes I am!" Yamato declared angrily.

"Prove it." Alex challenged her tauntingly.

"Very well!" Yamato stated haughtily, before proceeding to throw off her kimono in front of EVERYONE.

"Just Alex is fine. And did we really create that big of a story?" Alex replied and asked while accepting the offered hand.

"Yes. You did." He replied while offering a copy of the day's paper, and shooting Kalifa a venomous glance as he did so. It was understandable though, since she had been one of the assassins that tried to kill him, and pin it on the Straw Hats.

Both Kalifa and Alex however pointedly ignored the looks, as they glanced over the paper curiously. And while EVERYTHING in the paper was huge to the readers around the world, it was all already old news to Alex since he'd been updated about the different situations from his wives themselves.

The biggest difference though was reading about the events through the eyes of the World Government. Rias and Kurumu had fed a good deal of the information about them directly to the press, but there was still a bit of filter from the government present.

The main thing was how, instead of freeing thousands of people who had been wrongfully enslaved, Alex was being accused of 'stealing' the World Government's property while also depriving thousands of people of their 'jobs'. On top of that he was also the mastermind behind the fall of two Warlords, two Emperors, AND he had sent an attack on the Celestial Dragons themselves.

This was where the largest changes yet were.

According to the news, Alex had sent his forces to attack Mary Geoise in a bid to remove the World Government from power, and take it all for himself. But fortunately the Admirals Akainu and Kizaru were able to respond in time, and fought back the invaders while protecting the Celestial Dragons.

In the end, several of the invaders had been killed by the Admirals in the assault, and it had been proven that the marines would not falter in the face of this new adversary.

Naturally it was all complete bullshit.

If Alex HAD sent his wives to kill the Celestial Dragons, then they would already be dead. But no, he had sent them to ensure that all of the slaves in Mary Geoise could escape from the World Government.

The reason was so that they would be out of the way when Alex ACTUALLY went to kill the Celestial Dragons, and he wouldn't have to worry about collateral damage. And as for the report that several of the attackers had been killed, that was also complete bullshit since Alex would have never allowed it.

Lala and Yuna may have gotten a few bumps and bruises during their battle with the Admirals, but San's songs of healing and protection ensured they both hadn't received any major damage. Instead, it had been both Akainu and Kizaru that suffered the most in the battle.

When Alex mentioned them possibly fighting people like Bova and Akeno, who possessed the power of elemental Devil Fruits, Lala had made a pair of gloves on the spot to combat them without the use of Haki. Yuna meanwhile was the most versatile amongst his peerage when it came to different methods of fighting, meaning she was guaranteed to have some way of fighting back against the Admirals. And San had long since strengthened her songs to the point where they had already confirmed that they could be used on Devil Fruit users.

The only reason the two Admirals were even still alive was that they were the three least bloodthirsty amongst Alex's peerage, and because their mission had only been to ensure the slaves could escape. Plus, Alex already had plans for when they'd die.

But it was an understandable lie since the World Government needed to project strength against this new foe, even as they called for every available Marine to make the journey to Mary Geoise.

"Anything good?" Robin asked curiously.

"Nothing we don't already know, except for some World Government propaganda." Alex answered as he put the paper on the table so the rest could read it.

Both Nami and Robin had known what to expect, thanks to their access to the Chatroom, but the others were shocked to see what had happened.

"Woah! All these guys sound like they're a big deal!" Luffy exclaimed in awe.

"Of course they are, idiot!" Nami stated irritably.

"Two of them are Warlords, like Crocodile was. And they're the weakest amongst those who were attacked." Robin explained patiently to him, making Luffy gape in disbelief.

"Don't be too surprised Luffy. If you manage to awaken your Devil Fruit, then you'd become as strong as any of them one day." Alex said to him, drawing every eye back to himself.

"That's right. You were going to explain about how you and Luffy have the same Devil Fruit." Zoro said as he looked at Alex intently.

"Well, the actual reason I have the same fruit would take a while to explain. But long story short, I am able to acquire any Devil Fruit I want, even if someone has already eaten it."

"Wow! And how does that work?" Luffy asked with interest.

"Magic." Alex stated, both half truthfully, and half because he knew Luffy wouldn't understand any other explanation.

"Oh. That makes sense!" Luffy declared, making everyone around him face palm.

"And of all the Devil Fruits you could have eaten, you chose the Gumo Gumo no Mi?" Zoro asked him, to which Alex adopted a more serious expression.

"Not exactly. It's more like the fruit chose me." Alex answered, confusing everyone present.

"How does that work?" Nami asked, as he hadn't gotten around to telling her the truth of Luffy's Devil Fruit yet.

"Well, for starters there's no such thing as the Gomu Gomu no Mi." Alex stated, surprising everyone but Robin.

"Yes there is!" Luffy cried out angrily.

"No there isn't." Alex said while shaking his head. "There MAY be a real Gomu got no Mi out there somewhere, but the fruits you and I ate aren't it. What we ate is the mythical Zoan fruit, Hito Hito in Mi: model Nika."

"Though it has different names, Haki is used in a good portion of the world. There is however a special type of Haki that can only be used by a scarce few, Conquerers Haki. But we can go over that one later. Do you think you can go over the basics with them later, Yamato?"

Looking to the horned woman as he finished speaking, Yamato nodded as she said, "sure. I was considering teaching them the basics of Haki soon anyways since they wouldn't last long in the New World without it."

"Thank you. I'll also prepare a place for everyone to train in until they can resume their journey." Alex replied when Yamato accepted his request, only for the atmosphere to suddenly turn blue.

"That's right..... We don't have a ship to go anywhere with....and all of our things were washed away in the Agua Laguana...." Nami lamented, making the rest of their crew recall that not only did they lose their ship, but also one of their crew mates.

At a glance it appeared as if Alex was on an island, but a a single look upwards would remove such ideas immediately due to the massive sail that had the words 'Thriller Bark' printed on it. It was in fact, an entire island that had been converted into a ship by one of the Seven Warlords, Gecko Moria.

(A.N. A couple things. Firstly it looks as if we finally MIGHT be slowing down at work, which I've been having to even skip lunches and work overtime the last few weeks just to keep up. So that means I won't be as tired and might be able to get more chapters done.
