1 The Beginning

At the creation of this world, Terra, there were also three Gods and three Goddesses. The three Gods were the Ocean God, the Beast God, and the Demon God. The three Goddesses were the Mountain, Nature, and Fire Goddesses. These deities were constantly at odds with each other, and because they were deities, the scale of their powers threatened the planet they called home.

With the war between deities encroaching on the destruction of Terra, the Gods and Goddesses agreed that they would not continue to battle one another. Instead, they were to form tribes of subjects to give a portion of their power through contracts.

This contract allowed a God or Goddesses' subject to obtain a fraction of their power and utilize it to fight and better their lives. The Ocean God's people could control water; the Beast God's could bond with beasts and fight together, and the Demon God's got enhanced physical function. The Mountain Goddess provided her subjects with the ability to mold the earth around them. The Nature Goddess allowed her people to harness the wind. Finally, the Fire Goddess allowed her subjects to control fire and use it as a weapon.

Now, if a subject performed well enough with the original contract, they could become a "True Power Wielder." Being a True Power Wielder or a Wielder meant that you had gained access to even more of your God or Goddesses' power.

Water would turn to ice, and one beast would turn to five, the enhanced physical function would turn to summonable armor that grew out of the skin, the earth could turn to metal or lava, the wind would turn to wood and vines, and lastly, the fire would turn to electricity.

Although wielders could boast their advanced technique, they also had access to their primal or original element.

The subjects being more superficial, were happy to have a purpose in this world, albeit fighting for something they might not have supported.

Although, how could they not support the war effort? They were attempting to protect the world that now stood as their only sanctuary and hope for life.

By creating their tribes and subjects, the Gods and Goddesses had to determine how to fight their war. The Ocean God, who was hungry for powerful soldiers, rigorously trained his subjects. He granted contracts to all people of age and attempted to build a destructive force capable of wiping another tribe out.

However, the only downside for our Gods and Goddesses of making tribes and sharing their powers was that if a deity lost all of its subjects, it would be highly vulnerable. Because of the deal made centuries ago, it would not be able to defend itself.

On the other hand, the three Goddesses took a more subtle approach to prepare for the upcoming battles.

The Mountain Goddess constructed a treacherous mountain range which her subjects could live within. She also built a muddle of tunnels beneath a desert to the northernmost part of the continent for her only ally, the Fire Goddess.

The Nature Goddess decided it was best to avoid the war for as long as possible. Having a territory in between four other tribes did not help her cause. However, she successfully avoided the war by guiding neighboring tribes to enemy territories through the dense forest in which she resided.

The Beast God and the Demon God continued to band together and press the issue of war further by providing their subjects with training to match that of the Ocean God.

After the Beast God, Demon God, Ocean God, Fire Goddess, and Mountain Goddess gathered their troops. They had one final battle.

It was the bloodiest and goriest battle in the history of Terra. Previously the fighting between the deities had resulted in more destruction, but never this many casualties. Their subjects continued to hack off each other's limbs as the fifth night of the battle was brought to a close with the rising sun.

Corpses and body parts lay splattered across the battlefield. Of the population of Terra, only a quarter survived. Once a portion of the Demon God's territory, the battleground had been littered with puddles of blood and large earthen spikes. The smell of burnt hair and skin wafted over the continent for what seemed like years.

After the Battle for Terra, the subjects called it. There was a distinct lack of action from all of the deities. The people that had not died in the Battle for Terra felt they lost their place in the world after training for so long.

After two long, quiet years, the followers of the deities assumed they did not wish for more of their subjects to die and hence had stopped sending them to war.

In reality, these deities had never experienced death. It was a brand new concept to them. Some of these Gods and Goddesses ended up attached to some of the subjects they trained. This attachment led to an even greater heartbreak when all the deities could do was watch as their beloved followers died for their petty power struggle.

Their followers, of course, did not realize that what they and their family members were dying for, was in fact, not survival but a territorial power struggle that had been going on since before they existed.

Five years after the Battle for Terra, the deities were all very quiet and serene with the ruling of their people. Even the Ocean God, who had so fervently pushed his subjects to fight, had been picking fewer and fewer subjects to train as Wielders.

The once great and deadly Fire Tribe had devolved into a peace-hungry tribe that sought nothing but satisfaction in their daily lives. This sudden change had angered the Goddess of Fire, who thought they were skewing the ideology behind fire and her power.

The sudden change in the ideology behind the Fire Tribe led to the upbringing of a peaceful generation of fire holders who did not seek destruction but to create with their fire.

This led to the Goddess of Fire becoming even more distant from her tribe. She wanted warriors, not peace-loving fire holders!

Because of the sudden change and the lack of ruling from the Goddess of Fire, the last True Power Wielder of the Fire Tribe perished in the Battle for Terra.

Now, a total of fifteen years has gone by since the Battle for Terra. All seems to be right in the world, but after fifteen years, the Demon and Beast God no longer wish to sit idly by and let the future play out.
