18 Chapter 18: Boomerang Guy

Barry sat on the ground, leaning his back against a nearby wall atop a towering building.

'The only ability I seem to have now is phasing... I suppose that's something,' he mused to himself. 'But I really need to expand my arsenal of abilities. The problem is, someone is always watching me.'

With a heavy sigh, Barry continued, "It's frustrating, but I didn't find a single cult member in Missouri. It's absurd, but I guess I'll have to wait until around midnight and try again."

Suddenly, Barry's phone rang, and he quickly answered it.

"Mr. Allen, you can now pick up your building certificate and your keys to the building," the voice on the other end informed him.

"Thank you. I'll be there shortly," Barry replied before hanging up. He wasted no time in changing into a more formal outfit and packing his bag.

Arriving at the real estate office, Barry was greeted with respect by the agent. "Mr. Allen, please come in," they said, ushering him inside.

Barry simply smiled in response as he was handed the building certificate and keys.

With a sense of excitement and purpose, he wasted no time in heading straight for the building itself.

"Now I need to hire a guard to protect this building," Barry remarked to himself as he entered the premises and assessed the necessary renovations.

After inspecting the building, Barry made calls to the suppliers he had previously spoken to, arranging for the delivery of the ordered items. "It'll take a few days for everything to arrive and be installed," he noted. "I'll need to hire about 10 security guards in the meantime."

Barry contacted the real estate agent to inquire about available security guards, and the agent was able to provide him with several recommendations.

"I can't afford to wait months to finish this," Barry muttered to himself, determined to expedite the process.

So, he swiftly purchased furniture, computers, drawing tablets, and other necessary items for the office. He even acquired materials for the renovations he had in mind.

After several hours of diligent work, Barry had set up the entire office space, transforming it into a functional workspace.

Though it still appeared somewhat empty, Barry couldn't help but smile with satisfaction. "Now, I need to create some amazing animations and show everyone what we're capable of here," he declared, brimming with excitement for the future.

Barry delved into animating a dynamic fight scene featuring Spider-Man battling the Green Goblin. However, he quickly realized he couldn't monetize his creation due to Marvel's ownership of the characters.

Undeterred, Barry swiftly learned the necessary techniques and implemented them within minutes. He even provided the voices and audio effects for the characters, injecting his own flair into the project.

Once he completed the animation, Barry created a YouTube channel for his company and uploaded the video. Satisfied with his work, he called it a day and made his way to Star Labs.

Upon arriving, Barry encountered Cisco and Felicity, who were engaged in testing a boomerang they had found. Barry opted to avoid entering the cortex, grateful for his foresight.

"Hey, Barry," Felicity greeted him.

"Hey," Barry replied. "What are you doing here?"

Felicity leaned in to whisper to Barry, "Just running a test on the boomerang."

"Ah, got it," Barry acknowledged.

"See you later, Barry," Felicity said as she rejoined Cisco to continue their testing.

Barry headed to the restroom, but upon returning to the cortex, he heard Felicity's frantic footsteps as the boomerang chased her.

'Really?' Barry sighed, swiftly using his speed to intercept and catch the boomerang before it could cause any harm.

"Cisco, what the hell were you thinking?" Barry exclaimed.

"Sorry, my bad," Cisco admitted sheepishly.

Observing Barry's use of super speed, Felicity couldn't help but inquire, "You have powers?"

Barry nodded, demonstrating his abilities by zipping a few meters away and then back again. "Yeah. Next time, just be careful," he cautioned, returning the boomerang to Cisco.

"You're The Flash?" Felicity asked, her eyes widening in realization.

"Yeah, that's me," Barry confirmed.

"Will you help us, then?" Felicity inquired, referring to assistance with Team Arrow's endeavors.

"Absolutely. Just give me a call, and I'll be there," Barry assured her.

Concerned about Barry's secret being revealed, Cisco interjected, "Can she keep your identity safe?"

Barry shrugged. "It's fine. She can" he asked Felicity.

"Of course, I can," Felicity replied earnestly.

"Okay," Cisco acquiesced.

"I'm heading back home. If you find the enemy, call me, and I'll handle it," Barry declared, preparing to leave Star Labs.

As Barry departed, Felicity couldn't contain her curiosity. "Since when does he have powers?" she asked Cisco.

"After his coma..." Cisco began, launching into an explanation.

Barry quickly made his way to the Taekwondo class he was attending and approached the instructor. "Show me every kick you know," he requested.

"Sure, but weren't you supposed to be busy for a week?" the instructor inquired.

"I was, but something came up, and I had to return to Central City," Barry explained.

"Alright, I'll show you everything," the instructor agreed, beginning to demonstrate various kicks.

Barry carefully observed and memorized each kick before flawlessly executing them himself.

"Thank you for everything," Barry said gratefully before swiftly leaving the premises, leaving the instructor bewildered by his sudden departure.

Outside, Larry caught sight of Barry leaving. "Hey, bro. You're quitting, huh?" he asked.

"Yeah," Barry confirmed.

"Well, see you around, brother. Whatever your reason, go and give your best," Larry remarked.

"Thanks, see you, too," Barry replied with gratitude.

Making his way to the boxing gym, Barry cracked his neck and greeted the coach, "I'm here for training."

"Finally! Get in the ring. I want to see your improvement," the coach exclaimed.

"Got it, coach," Barry said, stepping into the ring ready to showcase his progress.

...

In Barry's home, he was training alone in the living room, honing his speed and sharpening his punches. His movements were becoming faster and more precise.

Suddenly, his phone rang. Barry answered to hear Felicity's voice urgently whispering, "Barry, we need your help. Someone's attacking Argus headquarters. Oliver is injured."

"Understood," Barry replied, immediately leaving his house, donning his suit, and heading straight to the location.

Upon arrival, Barry found Oliver injured, with boomerangs lodged in his chest. He spotted someone standing nearby, preparing to throw another boomerang at Oliver.

It was Digger Harkness, also known as Captain Boomerang, a former member of Task Force X.

Barry swiftly intercepted the incoming boomerang, catching it in mid-air. "Oliver, you need to be more careful," he cautioned, assessing the situation.

Oliver was taken aback to hear Barry's voice.

Barry glanced at Digger, who attempted to escape by throwing a smoke bomb. Unfazed, Barry effortlessly ran through the smoke and delivered a powerful punch to Digger's sternum, forcing him to kneel.

"It's rather pitiful to struggle against a boomerang-wielding opponent," Barry remarked, swiftly following up with a kick to Digger's chin, rendering him unconscious.

"Lyla, restrain him," Barry instructed, before departing from Argus with Oliver and heading to the Arrow hideout.

Lyla, surprised by Barry's swift action, quickly complied, while Diggle and Roy, who had been present, made their way back to the hideout.

"Felicity, something happened. Oliver was taken," Roy informed.

"It's alright, he's with an ally," Felicity reassured them.

Barry swiftly placed Oliver on the table and extracted the boomerangs lodged in his chest, expertly staunching the bleeding and suturing the wounds within moments.

"Is that you, Barry?" Oliver inquired.

"Yes, it's me," Barry affirmed, lifting his mask to reveal his identity. He then turned to Felicity and requested, "Do you have a gamma ray spectrometer or an X-ray detector? We need to scan for any potential bombs. I'm certain the assailant has planted one."

"I'll check," Felicity replied, utilizing military satellites to locate the bomb, pinpointing its location near Starling City.

"Good," Barry nodded, studying the map before swiftly departing to disarm the explosives.

As Oliver cautiously sat up, he questioned, "How long have you known Barry is The Flash?"

"Just a few hours," Felicity admitted.

"You only just found out?" Oliver raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, he inadvertently revealed his powers while saving me. He's been keeping it a secret since he woke up from his coma," Felicity explained.

Barry swiftly gathered all the bombs and hurled them into the sky above the sea. Racing in a circular pattern, he generated a lightning bolt, which he directed at the bombs, causing them to detonate harmlessly in the distance.

With each explosion, the threat was neutralized, ensuring the safety of Starling City.
