Chapter 85: The Hunted Part 2

By noon that very day, Lex Luthor was already on an escorted flight to Gotham so the questioning could begin in regards to his role in the attack and the illegal substances found at his harbor.

This was far from the only case lex has delt with before, and it wasn't even as serious as some of his past ones. Because of this, he wasn't worried about it getting out of hand. With his connections and wealth, it was a case he couldn't lose.

Arias also had no plans of depending on actual law to put him away. He simply saw an opportunity to keep him busy for awhile and decided to capitalize on it.

He himself didn't face any backlash with the only negative comments coming from people who made careers off of hating on him and anything he did.

But what did he care, the majority of Gotham still favored him greatly and now they despised Lex, dwindling his chances of establishing foundation there.

Apart from some minor statements and donations to the families of the victims, Arias didn't overly bring himself into the matter. It was far too soon for him to start showing signs of running Gotham city. So instead he let the commissioner gain the spotlight whilst he focused on taking care of a loose end.

It was now nighttime and he was currently seated in his living room with Slade by his side. In his hand was the notebook Slade had used to take note of all the information he got from Shade.

Arias quickly went over the information before standing up and putting it away in the pocket of his slacks. At that moment, Slade felt the need to ask him. "How do you want to handle this?"

But to his surprise, Arias dismissed him. "Lex is probably keeping a very close eye on us at the moment so we shouldn't leave the city. For now, just go about your duties as usual. And if anyone asks for me, tell them I don't want to be disturbed."

Slade didn't question Arias's words because they made a good degree of sense to him. With Slade's past, it would be too risky if he carried out a job outside the city.

"You got it boss, maybe when this all blows over we can talk about that project I mentioned." Slade reminded while nearing his exit of the room.

Arias only gave him a light nod and sent him on his way before locking the door. With Slade gone, Arias took out the notebook and scanned a circled set on letters.

[ Imperium Hotel & Casino, Gambler's Roll, Las Vegas, Nevada. ]

As he looked at those words, his body began to be engulfed by a dark and eerie energy. With a location in mind, his body ignored the laws of space and time, allowing him to transverse the distance in literally no time at all.

As he turned his gaze away from the notebook, he found himself standing at the front of that very hotel in the pouring rain.

Gambler's Roll was already one of the most dangerous areas of las vegas but it became even more so when Roulette moved her business there using the wealth she gained from Arias and Lex to start up her casino/hotel, which acted as a cover for even more operations she had running.

Being such an important place, the security was immense, so the moment Arias appeared, he was met with an entire security detail that stood at the front.

The majority of them were confused for a moment, it wasn't odd to see someone since both the hotel and casino were open 24/7, but for one to appear out of thin there…

"Freeze!"

It lead to caution and suspicion so they didn't hesitate to aim there weapons at him. Unfortunately, the moment they locked eyes with him, their fates were sealed.

Not even a second after aiming their weapons, all 8 guards stationed outside felt splitting headaches as Arias invaded their minds. Normally, his meta ability of telepathy would be incredibly taxing if he were to use it on multiple individuals at once, maybe even fatal.

But with a body that could ignore all laws he didn't hesitate. Once again ignoring the laws of time, each time his cells got damaged from using the ability to levels he wasn't proficient in, they would simply revert back to their original state, as if stuck in a time loop.

Meanwhile, all 8 guards just stood there blankly, in the next moment, drool began to drip out from their mouths and blood from their noses. They had become brain dead, their minds were now nothing more than an empty husk with their memories not even shattered but completely wiped from existence, making it impossible for another telepath to dig into their minds.

Within those memories, Arias found the complete layout of the building and thus shifted his body once again, this time to the surveillance room. Not wanting to take any risk's he would make sure no trail was left behind.

Within that room, he found only numerous guards and employees seated in front of numerous monitors. Because it doubled as a casino, a separate set of individuals looked out for cheaters and scammers whilst others just looked out for trouble in general.

Regardless, they were of no threat. Upon appearing in that room, Arias looked up towards the ceiling and caused all the lights in that room to shatter, followed by the monitor screens, leaving the room pitch black.

Confusion took over as no one even registered Arias appearing into their line of sight.

But soon, confusion turned into fear as Arias used the various shards of glass from the shattered objects as projectiles. Using his secondary meta-ability, Telekinesis, he sent them flying around the room at absurd speeds, tearing through anything they collided with.

Be it flesh or bone, the projectiles were quick and chaotic, moving in no particular pattern at all. Arias just continued until he couldn't sense anymore brain waves in the room.

With them now dead, Arias once again invaded the minds and assimilated the useful knowledge present before wiping them clean.

It hadn't even been more than thirty seconds since Arias arrived so he wasn't too worried about his actions getting discovered before he could complete his objective.

Roulette was currently at the top most floor of the building, where her office and personal suite were located. She stood in her bedroom wearing a semi-transparent nightgown while looking out her large windows with a glass of alcohol in hand.

She continued tapping the glass nervously with furrowed brows because she couldn't bring herself to be at ease.

The only reason she hadn't left yet was because her sources in Gotham claimed neither Arias or his people made any movements showing intent to leave the city.

Of course the risk of him just sending an assassin still did exist but if a contract from any notable assassin really were placed on her head, she would know.

The combination of her connections and Lex's made it near impossible for them not to know. Thus, her current location was still the safest, or so she thought, until… she saw a figure behind her using the glass.

!!

She tried to turn abruptly but by the time she did so, she felt a firm hand grip her neck and raise her body off the ground as if it were nothing.

Panic and fear was written in her eyes as she held the hand that gripped her while squirming but it was pointless, Arias's grip wasn't something she could break out of.

He simply smiled at her pointless fidgeting and spoke. "And here I thought, you'd be glad to see me. After all, you and I have unfinished business…"
