55 Chapter 55: A False Hero Part 2

It didn't take a genius to realize that the current events happening in the street were an attempt on someone's life.

"Why's everybody tryna kill me lately?" Despite the situation, Harley wasn't at all fazed. Explosions and dangerous situations were the norm to her.

Arias got off her and frowned as the smoke got heavier. "Doesn't look like it's us they're after."

Judging from the distance the car exploded, Arias reached the quick conclusion that he wasn't the target. With so many important figure's gathered in one place, it wasn't strange for someone's life to be targeted.

But even in crisis, Arias saw opportunity. He took off his blazer and tossed it towards Harley who had now began coughing erratically because of smoke.

"Cover your mouth and retreat to the very back of the street, it won't be long before help services arrive. I'm just curious whose hated so much that such a risk would be taken."

Harley could feel her consciousness slipping so she didn't protest. She liked Arias as a person yes, but her feelings were far from a point where she would be willing to risk her life for him.

With that said, confusion filled her mind. He could've just saved himself but he put himself at risk to save her, going as far as to shield him from the blast.

To Harley who was ignorant of Arias's near immortal physical body, that action surprised.

With the joker, it was always her who had to risk her life, never knowing the feeling of someone doing the same to protect her.

So far, a broken individual like herself had never even thought deeply about it. One thing was clear though, being abandoned and left to die, hurt her.

But today, being saved and rescued touched her. It was a foreign feeling, one didn't dislike, but also one she didn't understand.

As her head began to grow fuzzier, she held Arias's blazer over her mouth and began to retreat, subconsciously looking back at him every now and then, until he completely disappeared in the smoke.

Once Harley left, Arias even stopped pretending to cough. His body combated any effects the smoke brought before they could even surface.

He avoided healing himself as it would be far too suspicious to come out without even a scratch.

As he was advancing forward to the site of the explosion, he could hear several rushed footsteps and voices yelling in thick foreign accents.

Thanks to his superhuman senses, he navigated to the front easily, as if there was no smoke at all.

Upon arriving, he found a group of five armed and masked figures with feminine outlines surrounding a vehicle that was still in one piece despite being so close to the blast.

It wasn't strange for the world's elite to have bomb proof vehicles so it wasn't a surprise.

Although largely still in one piece, the car was still flipped over and its windows were shattered, with visible dents and scratches all over its body.

Four of the five individuals surrounded the car from all sides with the fifth opening the car's back door.

Throughout they kept yelling in a panicked tone, it was clear they knew time wasn't on their side.

Once the door opened, the masked individual dragged out a woman forcibly before stepping back and pointing a rifle towards her.

Even in such a pitiful state, the woman who had just been pulled out had exotic features that stood out. She was a slender, dark-skinned woman with dark blue eyes and long black hair with a golden diadem on her forehead.

She donned a strapless gray mini skirt dress with black leggings and high heel boots. Around her shoulders hanged a translucent pale blue veil.

It only took a single look for Arias to recognize her as the ruler of Greater Bialya, Queen bee, an infamous dictator.

Despite the dire circumstances, she didn't look at all scared, only angry as she covered her mouth and coughed.

"Stop this this foolish rebelling, your queen commands you!"

Arias was amazed someone could try to still be so dominating in such a hopeless situation.

"We are all women, your vile arts will not work on us! Now pay for your sins!"

In the next moment, the armed individual hit Queen Bee with the back end of her rifle out of anger, making her unconscious in the process. Immediately after, she looked ready to pull the trigger, yelling. "Freedom for Bialya!" before steeling herself to shoot.

Suddenly, her rifle flew out of her hands without any warning.

"!!"

The others panicked and looked around before spotting Arias's figure thanks to their equipment that allowed them to see through the smoke.

Three got ready to fire in his direction while one hurried over to try and assassinate the Queen.

However, with a single flick of his wrist, their bodies became restrained, unable to move. It was like an invisible force were holding them tightly, no matter how much they struggled, they couldn't even move their fingers.

'It just had to be a notorious dictator.' As Arias casually came closer to the vehicle, he showed annoyance at this discovery.

If the person in question was a beloved figure or at least one with a huge network, then Arias wouldn't need to concern himself about the public thinking of him in a lesser way.

However, saving the life of a dictator known for her iron rule and cruel ways was definitely going to harm his image. Worse off, the chances of said person being grateful to him were slim.

So, as he held up the five assailants with his telekinetic power, he pondered on what choice to make.

It only took him a few seconds to reach a decision on the matter. 'I should just risk it and save her. To lessen the blow to my image, I can save the other struggling survivors I passed by.'

With a decision made, Arias looked up at his hostages before restricting their airways.

All five had their eyes widen and their pupils shift around in panic. They could feel themselves dying, yet they were helpless to do anything. He sped up the process by forcing some of the surrounding smoke into their mouths and nostrils., quickening the rate of their demise.

After that, it didn't take long for their eyes to lose all sign of life.

Arias was likely going to be questioned on the matter if their bodies were found in one piece and had an autopsy done on them later. To avoid the annoying process that would emerge from that, he moved their now lifeless bodies onto one of the burning vehicles.

He then carried Queen bee along with another struggling survivor who had managed to escape from a damaged vehicle.

As he brought the two out, people could be seen gathered at the edge of the smokescreen, taking pictures and videos of the events.

Most of the people had come from other vehicles that stood at a safe distance from the blast. After seeing no more explosions occurred, many forgot the dangers and began moving closer.

Some even tried entering into the smoky area but they quickly abandoned that train of thought when it made them struggle to breath and even see.

Because of that fact, many were surprised to see Arias easily rushing in and out, each time coming out with one or two survivors.

They were far too many for him to rescue so he only planned to get a few for images sake. He was on his last rescue attempt when suddenly the smoke covering the entire area was blown away in an instant.

Arias then paused and looked up to see the cause of the sudden gust of wind, a figure hovering above the chaotic street.

A hero had arrived.
