Defeated the Devil

In a flash as quick as lightning, the girl flew up through the hole made by her blast, reaching the 666th floor.

"Oof!" The black haired girl grunted as she landed onto a grey marbled floor. She stood up to take a glance around the room.

The Devil's chambers had a black ceiling and marble flooring which was covered by a velvet carpet. There were polished stairs leading up to a grand black diamond throne encrusted with rare jewels.

On the throne sat an imposing monster with the head of a ram and the body of a battle hardened giant. The Devil whipped out a long and sharp sickle from behind him, which made a loud hissing sound of scraping metal. The red eyes of the evil lord of Hell laid on the young girl- a quiet and seemingly harmless action which would cause any grown and experienced adventurer to stiffen and blank out in terror.

The young girl stood silent, staring back defiantly.

Suddenly, the demon lord burst out into laughter, and his deep voice caused vibrations to be felt throughout the room.

"Brave hero, so you have finally arrived. A-" Before the Devil could continue, a high pitched voice rang out.

"Darkness Rage!" A dark explosion directly struck the towering Devil.

"Pfft ack!" The Devil sputtered and coughed out black blood. He abruptly stood up, then hobbled forward towards the girl. With one bony finger, he pointed at the girl accusingly with a scrowl on his furry face.

"Don't you want to hear all about my evil plan to conquer humanity? Or my backstory to how I became the king of hell?" He roared loudly, yet his voice wavered at the end when he briefly thought he saw a sadistic grin skate over the girl's features in a mere second.

"Darkness Rage!"

"Darkness Rage!"

"Dark-"

"Wait hold on a second! Do you know how long I waited for this moment? The long hours of practicing my monologue in the shower to myself? And how my mother took a video of me doing that and spread that video online throughout hell?! It took me a thousand millennia to get over all the embarrassing memes and parodies!" The Devil yelled, incredulous while waving his arms about, "Don't you want to know more about this games' intriguing PLOTLINE?!"

"Gah where's the skip button for all this dialogue?" Ruby4 muttered to herself under her breath as she gripped her staff, "ah I found it."

"Death Ray!" The black haired girl yelled with all her might, sending a stream of dark energy beaming out from the end of her glowing staff to hit the giant Devil square on the head.

A gurgling yelp could be heard as well as the noise of an earth shattering explosion akin to one created by a nuclear bomb.

"A ray the late Tesla would be proud of," The girl spoke to herself, before she spun around towards the exit to leave.

At that very moment, a thunderous boom could be heard, followed by the stone roof of the Labyrinth crumbling from within, revealing the red hot skies of Hell which pulsated like magma outside.

On instinct, Ruby4 leaped to the left, and right after that, basktetball court long claw marks grazed the floor from where she previously stood, leaving a gaping chasm down to the previous floor where two emerald dragons gazed up from in cowering frames.

"This is my final form!" From high above, the Devil's mere cry sent shockwaves striking through the realm of Hell, and tremors could also be felt raging on earth itself.

In the far island of Tabiki, the tremors caused the volcano to sputter our thick plumes of smoke, alarming the resident NPCs (non-player characters) into a frenzy, and causing players to evacuate the area. In the cities, buildings, especially the older ones have reportedly collapsed under the earthquakes, and massive cracks along the ground caused major traffic jams and significant casualties. Even the usually peaceful suburb areas where the newbie gamers trained were affected, and they were told to halt their training because of the danger. All over the world chat was churning out messages.

User TrollLamb219: "What is this? A surprise world event?"

User KyliePlsMarryMe: "This never happened before and I played this game from the start!"

User DragoWarrior822: "I'm giving away 1 million gold FOR FREE! Message me at *******, and fill in your personal details so I can send you the money..."

User HateEverything9271: "I just logged in and I'm already dying every three seconds. Great."

Suddenly, on the world chat, a single banner appeared.

"The User Ruby4 is now currently fighting the final World Boss Devil!"

All of a sudden, the entire chat froze and not a single player spoke. Then the chat exploded with messages.

"Oho, I was hoping you were more of a challenge," The young girl sneered while raising her head to try to look at the Devil's face.

The Devil was so tall that half of his body disappeared into the red clouds. Instead, what her eyes could reach was-

"Dude put your pants on, I can see your underwear! I don't want my eyes to be violated, thank you," Ruby4 scrunched up her face while shouting upwards so the Devil could hear. But she got no reply.

"I guess the Devil doesn't have expandable clothing when he transforms. Kind of a huge oversight, or the developers of the game have a really perverted sense of humor," Ruby4 thought to herself, disgusted.

"Gwahahah! In this form, I'm invincible! My skin is as strong as granite and my death magic can cover the space of multiple cities! You cannot defeat me!" The Devil cried. Internally, he snickered to himself. I'll never tell her that she should aim for my feet and then after I collapse, she should aim attacks to my head, my weak spot, to slay me! As he thought this, he felt invincible.

Within this seemingly hopeless situation, Ruby4, who was hunched down, started shaking violently. Droplets of water fell onto the ground around her feet, one by one. Then she raised her head to reveal that she was just laughing very hard to tears.

"Now I get why you only wore underwear for protection!" She yelled with a sick sort of happiness.

Meanwhile the Devil was taken aback, unsure of what was going to happen.

"Death Ray!" The girl shouted, flying up and sending a ray hitting his crotch area.

"Gwaaaaah!!!" The Devil cowered and bent down to block the ray with his arms, but to no avail as Ruby4 deftly flew down to adjust the direction with a cheeky smile.

Before long, the Devil was down to his final length of his health. Usually that was when he would bust out an overpowered grand move that could kill adventurers in one hit, but he was too blinded by pain to recite any spells coherently.

"B-but I know Death Ray is a huge mana consuming move! You must've ran out of mana long time ago even if you were level 100! You need mana to use spells!" The Devil managed out, while bracing forward.

At that, the girl smoothly drew out an adventurer's bag stuffed full and overflowing with Epic rarity Mana potions. She picked one out carefully with her hands for the Devil to see, and popped the cover off. The girl tipped the flask into her mouth and let the Devil watch as her mana refilled back to full capacity, all while maintaining eye contact.

"Death Ray!" She resumed chanting, and after that moment, the final boss Devil collapsed onto the ground, whilst shrinking back to his original size.

The defeated Devil lay sputtering blood at the victor's feet, and his eyes, instead of holding malice, even showed signs of relief. The Devil let his lips curl up into a small smile as a mist of white light flashed around his body.

"It's been a while since I felt this... happy." He said, staring off into the sky with a wistful expression, "now I finally found my answer to 100 billion years of contemplating the meaning of my life when I started to enact my world domination plan-"

"I told you that I didn't want to hear your backstory," The girl deadpanned.

...

...

"Ok sure just leave my balls in peace," The Devil said in a pained voice, before closing his eyes and disappearing into the light.

A text box appeared on Ruby4's screen.

"Congratulations! You're currently the 1st to defeat the final boss, Devil! You received 1 trillion gold! You received the title: "Conquerer of Hell"! You received legendary weapon: the Devil's Sickle!"

"Oh, that's it. The game is finished," she thought to herself.

On the world chat, the banner appeared: "Congratulations on user Ruby4 for defeating the Devil!"

Such a simple sentence invoked more discussion on the world chat than before, and it would stay that way for several more days.

However just after her milestone victory, Ruby4 logged out.

"I've completed the game. It's over," a boy with messy copper hair said to no one in particular. His hands moved in reflex to turn off his

headset and take it off.

"It's over, it's all over!" He screamed in his head as he tumbled back onto his bed from the chair, his back hitting the soft mattress with a bounce.

This red haired boy was named Ryan- an otherwise mostly average boy who secretly played the popular online game as the cute yet sadistic half fallen angel top adventurer named Ruby4. She was also known as the Demon Child due to the player's use of death magic, her excessive power and ruthless tendencies to one shot other players without mercy on multiplayer battles (and laughing about it mockingly afterwards).

But now that the game was completed, there was nothing Ryan could possibly do in the game anymore.

"What a pity, if only the game could be more challenging or lasted longer, welp," he thought as he tossed and turned on his bed, "it's probably about time I grew out of playing FantasyFable."

What Ryan didn't know, was that that was never going to come true, and that the challenges he would face would be far greater than the ones he encountered before...
