38 Rat sheds its skin

The woman was caught and brought to the same chamber that Old Man Ivan had used in the last man he caught then finally Old Man Ivan Spoke "You're the last one that was caught and seeing as I brought you here you know what I want", As he spoke he drew closer to the woman looked into her eyes giving her a stare as if he wanted to kill her.

She seeing this looked at him in the face knowing there is no way out greeted back with a grin on her face and told him "What is staring at me supposed to make me afraid", she spat on his face then continued " Idiots you think that your going to survive if you go to that other settlement".

Old man Ivan wiped the spit off his face then proceeded to slap the woman across her face saying " Quite temperamental, do you think that I need you to tell me what is what" he gave he another hard slap on the other side of the cheek then stated, " Nearly 50 spies were in our settlement you included yet they still chose to run back to those demons, I just don't get it what's in it if you go to them instead of joining us for a better future".

While he talked he continuously slapped her harder and fiercer mad at the situation then finally stopped when hearing a growing maddening laugh from the woman get louder as she spoke back " You say that it's salvation, haaa, idiots, idiots were just trash, garbage, lower than rats ever day we survive is just another day in hell"

" We run get caught then die that's the only thing that happens"

" Hope is something people think of we aren't even classified as that, we are whipped and treated as beasts that shouldn't exist"

" Yet we cling on to hope even when I was beaten and battered, held down and men had their ways with me I always thought that one day things will change"

" MY HUSBAND found a new woman while I went through all this hell when all I asked was he be taken care of when he was sick and we were in cells but when my master showed what my sacrifice brought"

The woman's eyes turned red with rage as she calmed and continued with her ranting " I traded myself yet he was there enjoying himself while I did this for him and I understood there was no hope for anything so to live longer why can't I do whatever is needed, all I need to do is obey and survive even as a rat is better than living in a decrepit place like this."

While this was being said Karisa was nearby listening to her and then approached saying to her " But isn't this your opportunity to finally not be owned and be a tool to someone else, isn't this your chance for a better life?"

The woman looked at the approaching girl sneered at her and spoke " So naive and stupid, you said there is a god there at the settlement that's being migrated to right"

" But that's just one little god against let's see everyone in the entire world of Vesteria you tell me what do think a group of trash can do against the entire world as we know it, better to just surrender when we know the final result"

" You are just delusional just give up even if you when your caught as long as keep my master pleased you can live a long life"

Karisa hearing all of this frowned and took and deep breath then said resolutely "You saying this but when my Lord grows up he will beyond whatever you have thought about him I can assure you I believe that our lord will not fail us and bring us to even greater heights and you have no right to ridicule him"

Hearing this the woman had a glimmer of light for a moment then said Karisa " Would he even accept me who has nothing to give, because if he can and as long as he can take this thing off I can give you every piece of information I have but it won't do you any good if I make a peep then die so what do you say the deal"

Karisa was going to say something but Old man Ivan talked first "You actually willing to betray your master, I thought you were okay being his rat to survive"

The woman then spoke back " I may want to survive but not as a stinking toy that's why I'd do anything to be free, especially over the years I've been gathering many pieces of intel that are useful especially if what the little girl says is true that means I can have a great reunion with my master and thank him for the treatment he's given me for years" she said this with a vicious smile on her face.

Old man Ivan listening to this smiled then said " Then how come you're not dead when you thinking of dealing with him isn't the slave mark supposed to stop you from thinking of that or you'll die little girl"

The woman talked back " It's not little girl it Chai and it's easy to not die as long as I don't say any pieces of information at all it won't trigger even if I suggest it but thinking about it or thinking about killing the master is where I'd die so do we have a deal then"

Old man Ivan looked at her and then took a few minutes to think about it. " Okay then release the little girl" This was said to his guards then he spoke again " Don't make me regret it" then turned around. Chai was freed and was annoyed that Ivan called her a little girl again but said nothing about it then said to Ivan "That's good and all but we have a next problem once I leave the desert they'll be able to find me and sense my location so we need to get rid of it or else they'll know"

Karisa then came up and said " We know that why we'll need Lord Nile to dispel it and it would be okay and just need to send someone to meet us near the border of the desert"

Chai smiled then walked over to her seeing the guards get tense but Old Man I van told them to relax " Good as long as it's removed no problem well let's get going I don't want to be a rat anymore especially since I don't want to stay in this dingy place any longer" 

With that said and done everyone left but as they were leaving people seeing Chai were surprised because they knew she was another spy she was still alive but didn't worry about it because they trusted the leaders of their group to know what they were doing.

Karisa coming out had to explain to her group and they understood the situation Chai went to the little girl who was a part of her group and looked angry at the timid girl but then rubbed her head not blaming her.

Karisa then told 3 people in her group to go on ahead to tell Lord Niles of their situation and success on their mission while she stayed behind with Ranr and Seras to help with the packing and the journey and while this was happening the settlement in the forest was making strides.

Village POV

By the time the group left many new changes were taking place.

" Wow we took down 500 of these trees outside so quick these feller harvesters and chainsaws the engineering group made weren't a joke," Adan said as he took off the Hard Hat that was on his head but then a large branch fell down, and nearly hit his head Kisa shouted out while she was on the feller to Adan " Don't take off your hard hat you idiot do you not know about work safety especially what to lord Would do to us if we got injured.

Adan heard this and was reprimanded by his other compatriots as well saying stuff like

" Damn idiot don't mess up my work time it's almost time for my lunch break"

" Hey we got 500 more to go I got no time to deal with your antics"

" Hey I need these things loaded on the truck to bring over to the kiln don't waste my time"

Hearing this, Adan apologized and went back to work wearing his safety gear thinking ' I can't wait to see what will happen when we finish this and start helping with the building.

Everyone was working enthusiastically including those in the village such as Kar.

" Hey you I told you to seed them hole by hole not spread them around"

" Hey who told you to dig there were you born without ears"

Kar wasn't joking about when he received the duty of the agricultural director to set up these tasks and even though it was tiring you could see the smile on his face when he looked back and saw the full-grown vegetables and fruits thinking that it was worth it all in the end.
