Insanity III

Day 80 of 183

A boy was holding a white rabbit.

However, there was something strange about this white rabbit.

It wasn't cute like the others.

Instead, it had multiple protruding fangs from its mouth and was also quite muscular.

Its claws were inches long.

Its eyes were pitch black.

There was obviously something wrong with the white rabbit.

It continuously struggled in the boy's hand, but it wasn't able to escape the boy's grip.

"Carefully… Carefully…"

He whispered as his right index finger traced the body of the white rabbit from its head, the right part to the left side of its body, to its heart and finally, to its mouth.

Kreeeeee—

However, just as the boy's finger reached the chest of the white rabbit, it let out a deafening screech.

Its body convulsed before slowly withering.

"Another failure…"

The boy said numbly, as if he had expected such a thing to happen.

He brushed his snow white hair with his hand, revealing a pair of blood red eyes.

It was Regis.

It had already been a long time since he was able to become a Middle Stage One Star Realm in the path of demonic power.

And it had already been a long time since he started practicing the ability of his Corruption Manipulation.

However, he still hadn't mastered it yet.

The current routine he was doing was to infect various animals with demonic power by forcibly inserting it in them.

Then, he would try to manipulate the "corruption aura" within them to try and expel it from their body.

'I need to master this immediately…'

"Announcement to all soldiers of Agaroth, we'll be continuing our journey in thirty minutes! It is estimated that we will reach the next village in a few hours!"

Regis got up and left the clearing in the forest as he proceeded towards the demonic human camp.

"This excursion seems never ending… I don't think I like what the demonic human leader is planning…"

He whispered to himself as he walked.

He would be an idiot to not notice the obvious general purpose of this activity.

Regis surmised that the demonic human leader's goal was to turn them all into crazed killing machines.

'As for his exact purpose…'

Regis decided to stop thinking about it.

After all, he had priorities right now.

'I hope that Greg and Lea are still okay…'

As he was too focused on his training, he hadn't really found the time to see them again.

Of course, another thing that factored to this was that the demonic humans restricted them to the maximum.

Aside from not giving them calming soups, they also tried to minimize interaction between them outside of raids.

'Still, I'm doing this for them…'

Internally justifying his actions, Regis kept walking.

***

A few hours later…

Shing— Splurt!!!

A single dagger strike to the back of the neck was all it took to take the innocent life of a villager.

Shing— Splurt!!!

Shing— Splurt!!!

Shing— Splurt!!!

The twin daggers moved methodically, reaping lives continuously.

Regis's face remained blank despite the blood splashing on his being.

After only a few minutes, he had already killed close to a hundred villagers.

He then raised his hand towards the direction of the corpses and chanted.

[Indiscriminate Absorption]

The corpses simultaneously turned into black gases of energy before being absorbed in Regis's hand.

If in the past, he still had to put his hand on the chest of the corpse, he now doesn't need to do so.

It was a testament of his high proficiency in the evil craft.

As well as the evidence of the countless lives he needed to kill in order to reach this level.

'I have really become used to this, huh?'

Regis thought as he stared at the night sky blankly.

Fuuuuu~

Sighing, he began to move again.

'There's no time to waste.'

Shing— Splurt!!!

Shing— Splurt!!!

Shing— Splurt!!!

His mechanical method of killing not only left the villagers in fear, but also the other demonic human children.

Even those that were extremely bloodthirsty knew that they shouldn't fight someone who was so efficient in killing.

Regis's killing efficiency was so high to the point that their village raid ended in just under 7 hours.

"Good job, soldiers of Agaroth! You have finished raiding the village quicker this time!! I'm sure that the Devil of Destruction, Agaroth, will reward you!"

"Praise the Devil of Destruction!"

"Praise Agaroth!!"

It was then that a voice resounded in all of the demonic children's ears which was followed by cheers.

However, to Regis, this announcement was only a sign for him to leave.

He hurriedly went to an area without anyone's prying eyes so he could practice his abilities in secrecy.

However, a pair of pitch black eyes were staring at him from afar.

'Interesting… I thought that he wasn't talented, but I was wrong. In fact, he might even be more talented than the others.'

The demonic human leader smiled.

'I'll need to keep an eye on him more…'

***

'So he's already noticed me, huh…'

Regis thought to himself.

Considering what he was showing, he had already expected to catch the attention of the demonic human leader.

'It's fine though. It's not like I'm showing all of my strength…'

The only thing he was showing was his ability to kill efficiently.

Compared to what he was hiding, it was only a small thing in comparison.

Therefore, Regis wasn't really worried.

Added to the fact that as someone comparable to a true demon, a person like the demonic human leader who was only contracted to a demon could never surveil him.

'Though I have to be more careful from now on…'

He thought as he hurried to a secluded area in the village.

After spending a few minutes, Regis found a small rat.

He then used his demonic power and gradually exposed the small rat to it.

Before long, the small rat started to mutate.

Its eyes became pitch black while its body became bigger.

This was one of the abilities of demonic power that he discovered: its infectious nature that corrupts living beings.
