29 Fated Mission

"Yayyyy! You better keep your promise, Uncle!"

Dahlia cheered joyfully.

"Wha— Oh!" Doron remembered a promise he jokingly made about a few weeks ago.

It was during the time when Dahlia was starting to lose motivation because of her lack of talent in aura.

Therefore, Doron made a promise that he would take her with him the next time he hunts demonic humans.

Feeling a little headache, Doron nodded helplessly.

"Alright, alright. I'll take you with me… but! We'll increase the intensity of training!!"

"Okay!" Dahlia responded cheerfully.

'Well, the demonic humans had just launched an attack not too long ago… So the next one should at the least be a few months from now.'

Doron felt a little relieved, thinking that he would have plenty of time to prepare Dahlia.

After all, hunting demonic humans was no joke.

"Hey, have you heard?"

"What?"

"One of the Executors is on an excursion!"

"What!? Do you know which Executor that is?"

"No…"

Two demonic humans conversed as they stood patrolled the camp.

'Executors, huh…'

Regis pondered about the words he heard from the two demonic humans.

He had just enhanced his hearing with demonic power, making it easier for him to eavesdrop and gather information.

He had also reached the point where he can utilize demonic power without them noticing.

'Though I'm not quite sure about the demonic human leader…'

Regis never really tried to secretly use demonic power in the presence of the demonic human leader.

After all, just a single mistake might get him killed.

No, he was sure that it would get him killed.

'Anyways, let me analyze the situation.'

As far as he knew, the Executor they were talking about was a high ranking official of the Light Temple.

Executors could only be found on the main Light Temple located in the Ligera Kingdom.

It was also known as the Holy Kingdom.

However, this did not mean that only the believers of Lemetina, the Goddess of Light could dwell on the kingdom.

In fact, it was even catering towards not only other temples but also all the other races.

A place without discrimination.

That was what Regis knew of the Ligera Kingdom as of the present.

However, among what he knew, there was a certain piece of information that caught his attention.

A place sought out by all people.

No matter what their race, social status, or financial ability was.

A place in which skill precedes everything else.

'Maybe I will be able to attend Grandella Academy with Dahlia in the future…'

Regis grinned as he ruefully shook his head.

Although he knew that it was close to impossible, Regis still dreamt of going to such a place.

At the very least, he was dreaming.

Despite the circumstances and the bleak future that seemed to be waiting for him.

He still had the guts to dream.

That was what was important.

Because this means that he still has hope.

"Attention to all warriors of Agaroth! Please gather at the center of the camp at the order of the leader!"

A demonic human strengthened his vocal cords with the use of aura.

Regis silently got up, pondering about what the demonic leader was up to this time as he began walking.

Along the way, he met up with Greg and Lea who were also at their own residences.

Greg had a nervous expression on his face.

Meanwhile, Lea was wearing a frown.

"Ugh, what is this about now…"

She said as the two of them walked in the same pace as Regis.

Greg also looked at him, the worry on his face lessening up by a tiny bit.

The two of them saw Regis as someone dependable due to the fact that he had always kept calm in almost every situation.

Regis shook his head and said, "There's nothing we can do about it anyways…"

They soon reached the center of the camp.

What greeted them was the sight of an elegant man wearing a black robe.

A man that they had been all too familiar with, the demonic human leader.

"Greetings, warriors of Agaroth!"

Warriors of Agaroth.

The title that they had all been given upon their first raid.

The raid in which they destroyed a peaceful village and stole the harmonious lives of the villagers within.

A memory that makes Regis churn in disgust even with the help of his gift of Tranquility.

The demonic leader continued speaking.

"Your fated mission is nigh upon us!"

"He's annoying me, acting mysterious and all. The hell is this fated mission he had been mentioning recently!?"

Lea complained in a whisper.

Greg tapped her shoulder, "H-Hey! Careful with what you say! What if the leader hears you…"

And as if to prove him right, the demonic human leader glanced in their direction.

Tremendous pressure instantly appeared in their direction.

Lea's face paled, almost losing her footing in the process.

Fortunately, Greg was able to support her.

However, Greg's knees were also threatening to buckle at any given second.

Fortunately, the pressure didn't last long.

Strangely enough, the pressure from the demonic human leader didn't faze Regis in the slightest bit.

'Interesting…' He said to himself as numerous hypotheses emerged in his mind.

'This is either because I have adapted to the pressure of a devil, making the pressure from the leader laughable or…'

'It might be because of my Demonic Star…'

Anyhow, this interaction only brought good news to Regis.

However, the happiness from his eyes faded as he heard the demonic human leader's next words.

"In order to prepare you for the fated mission that you will be doing in half a year, your weekly raids will be done daily instead."

"So for the next 183 days, you will be raiding 183 villages located in the periphery of the human territory."

"Yes!"

"Haha! This is great!"

"Right, I've been craving the taste of blood recently!"

"Thank you Agaroth for this opportunity!"

Majority of the children had crazed expressions on their faces, perfectly resembling that of a demonic human.

However, there were still quite a few children who hadn't succumbed to darkness.

Regis, Lea, and Greg were among them.

They all had grave expressions on their faces, not believing if they heard the leader right.

The demonic human leader smiled as he observed the myriad of reactions, "We'll also provide you adequate combat training in your free time…"

"All of this is to ensure that you will be able to complete your fated mission successfully!"

However, a fire lit up in Regis's eyes.

'Adequate combat training?'

He still remembered the demonic human leader's first words– that they only needed ro know how to kill.

'What's with the sudden change though…'

Regis knew deep inside that no matter what change it was, it was not a good one for sure.

Nevertheless, he wouldn't let this opportunity go to waste.
