Hidden Power

This time Sam is the one who charges me, I block his first attack which was aimed at my neck.

"Not bad kid, show me more," I tell him.

He releases a flurry of blows, his hands becoming blurred, and I block each of them with one hand. I kick him in the chest and send him back a few feet.

"I thought you said you weren't very strong?"

I asked him.

"I said compared to you," he lies.

"Was that enough to make you take me at least a little bit seriously?" He asks.

"Okay but remember, you asked for this."

I summon dozens of the void blades and use them to attack Sam from a distance. I watch him as he blocked, parried, and dodged each blade. Strangely enough though, as I watch him fight, I get the feeling that he's holding back. When I searched his energy the first time it was incredibly powerful. He seemed to be close to Ollie or even Clyde in terms of power which, Once you think about it, is kinda strange for a kid who's in the normal class and also supposedly only one of the mid-rank ones.

I search his energy once more and find out he is holding back, I'd say he's using around a quarter of his power, which makes me question him even more.

So now I'm gonna find his limits.

I manipulate half the blades to attack him from the front and half to attack him from behind. When he jumps to avoid them, like I knew he would, I teleport next to him and knock him into one of the walls.

"I thought you said no more holding back?" I asked him.

"What do you mean?" He asked as he pulled himself out of the wall, a nervous look flashing in his eyes for a brief moment before disappearing.

"I'm not stupid," I smile.

"I can tell you're holding back some power, now I don't know how much exactly but it's distracting you."

"Yeah, you're right." He smiled sheepishly.

"Or course I am," I laugh.

"Now come at me with everything you got."

Sam gets up and his power grows steadily, I'd say he's using about fifty to sixty percent of his power now.

I put away the dozens of void blades and summon two void daggers. We both move at the same time our blades clashing with each other, if I hadn't reduced the power on mine they would've cut right through not only his blades but his body as well, we move fast throughout the gym attacking each other sending rapid-fire blows that shook the floor ever so slightly.

He backed off and slashed the air in front of him creating two slashes made of pure mana and launched them at me I cut through the first one, and sensed Sam moving to get behind me, I spin and cut through the second slash then turn and block Sam's Attack in the same movement.

I see a brief flash of annoyance in his eyes as he grits his teeth and both his blades give off a white glow and white energy envelops them and extends the blades. Sam comes at me, now wielding two swords. I back away from him and throw my daggers at him while summoning a pair of void blades. He blocks the daggers and barely dodges the blades that were swinging down on him. I move directly in front of him and swing down again, he doges out of the way and comes at me once more.

We exchange a flurry of blows and I noticed beads of sweat forming on his forehead. As we continue to fight I match my pace to his, just slightly faster as to not fully overpower the kid and after blocking one of my attacks sam slashes the ground in front of him and jumps back to gain distance. Ordinarily, this wouldn't stop me but again; trying not to shit-stomp him.

Sam holds both his daggers together as if they were a single handle and the energy from both of them combined forming a large greatsword made of pure white energy. I just smile and combine my void blades into the void greatsword.

"What the fuck dude?" Sam whined.

" Why are your techniques so similar to mine?"

" I honestly have no idea." I shrug my shoulders.

I could tell him that they aren't that similar and that I'm just copying his moves, but where's the fun in that?

"How bout we end this?" I ask him.

"Hit me with your strongest attack." I tell him.

"You sure? He asks.

"Go for it."

He charges up for his final attack and I can tell he's still reserving power, I assuming that he's not allowed to bring out his full power or something, the sword in his hands grows brighter and larger as he gets in his stance and dashes forward swinging his sword at an incredible speed I block the blade but only for a second as I allow the power to force me down. The floor craters and there's smoke everywhere. I get up, holding my shoulder.

"Damn kid." I smile.

"That move of yours packs a punch."

"Are you okay?" Sam asks while breathing heavily.

"Yeah, don't worry about it."

"Got any tips for me?" he asks

"Yeah, practice your sensory abilities more. You had a lot of openings. Remember, some enemies can take a hit and keep going."

"Well that easy for you to say," he grumbled.

" No matter how hard I try I can't sense you, it's weird as hell."

"If you get strong enough I'll teach you how to do it," I tell him.

"Really?"

"Sure thing kid."

Lucille and I walk off, I still holding my shoulder, and just for extra measure I limp ever so slightly, as soon as we get out the door though I grab Lucille and we teleport to the rafters of the gym.

"What are we-" Lucille starts to whisper before I put my finger to my lips and motion for her to watch.

Sam was still on the floor laying on his back breathing heavily, he suddenly sits up and pulls his phone out. He dials a number and waits.

"Hello, sir." He said.

We couldn't hear the person on the other end but we could guess what their conversation was about.

"Yes, sir he just left."

"Yes sir, he's very powerful. We were both holding back but I still had to use a great deal of power, in the end, all he had were a few light injuries."

He paused as he listened to the voice on the phone.

"His stamina also seems to be quite high, possibly higher than mine, sparring he wasn't even out of breath."

He pauses once more.

"I don't know if I can convince him, sir."

His face grew serious as he listened.

"If I use my full power I believe I can defeat him." He said confidently.

"Yes sir, in the name of the savior Lee Draga.
