Blood Fury

As he said those mental words, there was a flash of white light as the hologram of options in front of him quickly faded.

When Leon next opened his eyes, he saw a strange object floating in front of him.

It was an emerald coloured gemstone that had countless small tunes and inscriptions flowing all over it.

Just by being near it, Leon could feel the overwhelming vitality and aura of life that the object seemed to radiate.

Leon didn't even have to think before he recognised the object.

It was of course, the seed of Yggdrasil.

After playing with the seed for a bit, Leon quickly put the seed into his space pouch.

This wasn't the place to be looking around at the seed and trying to inspect it.

After placing the Seed in his pouch, Leon then turned towards the headless body of the ogre Chieftain and began to rummage around for any rewards additional rewards that would have been dropped by the monster itself.

It didn't take long before he pulled out a faded book.

'Skill book' thought Leon in surprise.

He quickly waved the book over his wrist gem to inspect it.

The moment Leon saw this skill, he had to take a deep breath to calm himself down.

It was moments like this that reminded Leon that what he had just accomplished in defeating the Ogre was a mind-boggling feat.

Rewards of the system are given not just in the difficulty of the task but also in the rarity.

Based on these facts, Leon could say for certain that he was the only one in the entire human race capable of completing what he just did.

In fact, Leon was only capable of completing these things due to two factors.

His stone golem and the system's first achievement.

You see, although people might have been able to acquire some sort of strength that could rival the stone golem. It was almost impossible for someone to get a system first achievement.

To be the first one in the history of the system to accomplish something is basically impossible in the way the current world works.

The system has been around for countless eons and humanity was one of the races that joined the system much later, after countless other races had been established and Leon was still [part of the last group of humanity to join Haven.

This was not even mentioning the fact that humans, in their most basic form, were much weaker than other races. If you add all these factors together, the probability of getting a system first was really impossible.

Leon knew that it was rarity and absurdity of the achievement combined with the absolute luck of circumstances, not the difficulty, that got him these rewards

Otherwise, there was no way that the system would give him such lucrative rewards to choose from and that the monster would drop such a ridiculously overpowered skill.

I mean, it was a legendary scaling skill for crying out loud!

Such a rare thing was enough to allow him to reach the upper levels of humanity by itself.

Leon was sure that if he didn't try to exploit the chances provided by his memories and just used this skill by itself, he would still be able to become a top powerhouse amongst the human race. And all because it was a legendary scaling skill.

A legendary skill itself was already the cream of the crop and was the highest rank skill that someone could realistically hope to gain, but a legendary scaling skill was just too broken.

Skills themselves, while powerful, still had their shortcomings.

Unless they were class specific skills, most skills were confined to a certain rank.

Take Lucy's healing skill for example. This skill was a Grey Stone rank healing skill, meaning that the skill was the most effective at the Grey stone rank. If the skill was used on somebody above that rank, then the effect would be minimal and then for people two ranks above the skill would basically have no effect at all.

Scaling skills managed to avoid this common problem altogether.

Like the name suggests, scaling skills were a special branch of skills that managed to increase in rank along with its user, allowing them to be relevant all the way through the user's life no matter what rank they ascended to.

Legendary skills, despite being rare, were still things that could be acquired through means like legendary rank missions or legendary rank dungeons, but a legendary scaling skill was something that could only be encountered, not sought after.

It was just that elusive. Leon doubted whether there was a person alive in all of <Haven> that could confidently say that they could acquire a legendary scaling rank skill.

Knowing all this, Leon couldn't contain his urges anymore and quickly absorbed the skill.

After absorbing the skill, Leon quickly felt around the ogre and retrieved a set of dropped attribute crystals.

It's just that the moment Leon retrieved the crystals in his hand, Leon could feel a weird gaze and aura lock onto him from somewhere.

It didn't take much time before Leon realised what it was.

It was the system!

From the very moment Leon decided to fight against the ogres, he had gone against the system's orders to travel to the next stage of the tutorial.

Leon didn't know if it was because of some strange set of rules or because of its own decision, but there were rarely any instances of the system directly forcing something.

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
