1 Chapter 1: Positive

Angel's POV:

I awoke to the sound of something crashing down. I quickly sat up and got lightheaded. I groaned and stood up and walked to the door. I opened it a bit to see my Dad and Mom kissing and rubbing on each other. I looked down at their feet. It was a vase that had dropped. Seeing them kiss and rub on each other made me sick to my stomach. I scrunched up my face and closed my door. I headed to the bathroom and took a shower. I let the water wash over me. I got out and quickly got dressed. I lazily dragged myself to my room and picked up my school bag. Then I heard it. My Mama moaning. I rolled my eyes and put my earbuds in. I blasted my music as I headed downstairs. I walked out the house to my car.

I got in and paused. I felt like I was being watched. And I was right. I looked up to see my next door neighbor staring at me. He was holding his crotch. He stopped when he saw I was watching him. He quietly scrambled to get back in his house. I sighed and started the car up. It sputtered three times before coming to life. I drove to school and parked outside. I didn't like my school but I had no choice. Family was too poor and stoned to send me anywhere else. As I walked down the halls, students came into view. Half of them kissing, while the other half of them talking. I hated being around people. I have anxiety and being around other people made me nervous and anxious. I always wanted to skip school and leave this place but I couldn't. I can never bring myself to do it.

As I walked down the halls, I was stared at by boys and girls. The guys eyed me, while the girls glared at me. I didn't like it. I don't like being stared at. I couldn't help I had a nice body. I picked up my pace and kept walking. I walked to my locker when I was greeted by a dude. "Hey Angel." He said. I looked at him. I could tell black what his natural hair color. His black roots didn't match his even blacker hair. "What do you want?" I asked. "You tryna fuck?" He asked. I scoffed. "No." I said, softly. I shut my locker and began to walk away. He grabbed my arm and pulled me back. "Come on Angel. You can't hang on to that virginity for long." He said. I snatched my arm away. "I can and will." I said, angrily. I walked down the hall to my classroom.

I got there early. I like being early to class. That way I don't have to be around other students when I get there. I didn't like being late for anything. The stares you get for being late. It's nerve wrecking. Soon the bell rung and students began to file in. I took out my earbuds as class started. I wrote down my notes then headed to my next class. I was in the middle of history before the class phone ringed. The teacher said for me to go to the office. I was confused as to why. I never did anything bad before. I did everything right. As I walked to the office, I began to think to myself. What did I do? I haven't done anything wrong. I took a deep breath and opened the door to the principal office. He motioned for me to sit down.

I quickly did. He stared at me, as if he was waiting for me to speak. "Did I do something wrong?" I asked. He pulled out a small bag with white stuff in it. I immediately recognized it. "Angel we found this in your locker." He said. "That's not mine." I said. "No? Then how did it get in your locker?" He asked. I shrugged. "I don't know but it's not mine. I swear." I said. He sighed and walked over to me. He went behind me and began to rub my shoulders. "Look Angel, I wanna believe you. Your a good kid, your smart, you get straight As." He trailed off, as he started to pull my shirt down a little. My heart raced. I felt his lips graze my shoulder. "Just tell me the through Angel." He whispered. "It's not mine." I said, struggling to get my words out.

"How about this?" He said. He moved his hand over my shoulder and down to my right breast. I closed my eyes and turned my head away. "I let you go free and look the other way, if you give me what I want." He said. He cupped my breast, causing me to whimper in fear. He giggled. "Oh the fear..." he said. Then the door opened suddenly. "Sir her parents are here." The secretary said. I sighed in relief as my parents walked in. I never been more relief to see them.

They walked in and glared at me. "What's this about?" Mom asked. The principal cleared his throat and held up the small bag. "We found this in Angel's locker. As you know, we do a routine search all around this school. And this little guy was in her locker." He said. Dad and Mom eyed it, like they wanted it. "Huh. Angel, what do you have to say?" Dad asked, crossing his arms. "It's not mine." I said. "Then whose is it?" Mom asked. Are they serious? They know it's theirs!!! "It's not mine." I said. The principal sighed. "Angel, this is cocaine. It was in your bag. In your locker. If it's not yours, whose is it?" He asked. I looked at my parents. They gave me a look that meant if I say anything, I'm dead when I get home. I sighed. "Okay fine. It's mine." I said, looking down at my hands.

"That's what I thought." The principal said. He walked back to his desk and began to write something. "What's gonna happen to her?" Dad asked. "Got having drugs in the school, suspension." He said. "What?" We said. "Please sir. Is there anything else we can do?" Mom asked. He looked at me and bit his lip. "We have other means of working this out. I mean Angel is a good student. I hate to see her reputation ruined because of this little incident." He said. "So what can we do?" Mom asked, undoing her buttons on her shirt. She bent down in front of him, blocking his view of me. He but his lip at me. I looked at Dad who was still holding the bag of coke. "Well come by after school Mrs. Starlight. I believe we can work this out." The principal said.

I cannot believe this. "Thank you. I'm sure we have a lot to discuss." Mom said, smiling. "In the meantime, Angel can go back to class." The principal said. "And we will take care of this." Dad said, holding the small bag. They walked out the room and out the doors or the school. I quickly walked out the room before the principal had anything else to say. I walked back to my class and saw my stuff was moved. Some kids moved to my seat, cause they had trouble seeing from the back. I was forced to move to the back. I wrote down my notes and went to lunch. After school, I walked to my car. I saw my Mama's r pull up and her get out. She wasn't wearing pants anymore. She was now wearing a dress.

She walked in the building but not before spotting me. She came over to me, glaring. "Have you lost yo damn mind?" She asked. "No ma'am. Mama it wasn't mine. You know it was yours." I said. She moved closer to me, causing me to move back. "Bitch, mind yo business. If I ever get a call about this shit again, you'll be begging for death. Get yo ass home!!" She growled as she went inside the building. I felt a lump in my throat. I got in my car and cut it on. I drove home and ran upstairs to my room. I cried in my pillow. "Angel?" Dad called. He tugged on the doorknob. I knew what that meant. I quickly hid in under my bed. He broke down the door and looked around for me. "Angel I know your in here." He said, as he paced the room. I covered my mouth and cried silently.

When he was coked up, he didn't see me as his little girl. He saw me as a toy. They all did. I grabbed my phone and texted the one person who could help me. Kacey.

Angel: Come get me!!!

Kacey: Your Dad after you again?

Angel: Yes.

Kacey; I'm on my way babygirl. Hang on.

Dad grew frustrated over finding me. "Angel where are you?!" He bellowed. He began to slam things around. After awhile, he left. I went to the bay and sat on the toilet til Kacey texted she was outside. I carefully went downstairs to see my Dad in the kitchen eating. I tip toed out the door and ran to Kacey's car. I hopped in and cried. She drove off, keeping her hand in mine. I rubbed hers. She drove to her house and held me as I cried in her arms. We got out and headed inside. We were greeted by Kacey's parents. They looked at me in horror. "Oh Angel. Are you okay? What happened?" Kacey's Mom asked. "My Dad was after me again Sarah." I said.

"Did he do anything to you Angel?" Kacey's Dad, Ken, asked. I shook my head. "I hid under my bed." I said. "I can't believe Nya wasn't around." Sarah said. "Having sex with my principal seemed a good way for her." I said, rolling my eyes. "Sarah sighed. I was hoping she'd change." She muttered. "That's not gonna happen." I said. "All this because of that bag of coke? I mean who the hell puts drugs in their child's bag?" Ken asked. I sighed. "I don't know why I keep thinking they'll change." I said. I looked at Kacey. Her eyes were milky white. She was having a vision. Then her eyes cleared up. "Mom its best if Angel stays the night. Her mom is gonna beat her for no reason and her Dad will rape her when she gets back." She said.

I began to cry again. Kacey held me. "She can stay." Sarah said. I watched as she and Ken went to the next room. It was amazing how well they blended in with our world. Magical beings all around humans. I knew they were psychics. Kacey told me she was a psychic when we were kids. She proved her by making her eyes go white. Then she told me what was gonna happen later on that day. My mom got a promotion at work. I never told her that so I was confused as to how she knew. Then it actually happened. She kept telling things that haven't happened yet. I was frightened by her but I still wanted her to be my friend. Her parents weren't too thrilled about me knowing their secret. I swore to keep it a secret and I did.

After a few months, they trusted me. They became involved with my situation when Sarah had a vision of my parents falling out. She knew this would be bad for me as I wouldn't be able to handle it well. And I didn't. My parents became so ill with being out of work that they took their frustrations out on me. Kacey and her family were my way out. Kacey's sister walked in and seen me. She stared at me. She was a rebellious girl but still lovable. She came over to us. She hugged me. "I'm sorry Angel." She said. I cried in her arms. "It's gonna be okay Angel." She said.

"How? I can't escape my life." I said. "Some day, something good is gonna happen to you love." Kacey said. "Like what?" I asked. Kacey pulled my face towards her. "Trust me." She said. I nodded and hugged her. "I'll always be here for you Angel." I said. "Promise?" I asked. She held out her pinky. "I promise." She said. I smiled and took her pinky. She took me upstairs to her room. We sat down on her bed as I laid in her arms. She stroked my hair as we watched TV. "Kacey, can we go to the lake?" I asked. She looked down at me. "Why?" She asked. "I always feel safe there." I said. She thought about it. "Okay." She said, as she sat up. We got out of bed and walked downstairs. "Where you ladies going?" Ken asked. "Angel wants to go to Light Lake." Kacey said. "Ooooh. I wanna go." Said a voice. I looked to see Kacey's little brother, Darwin.

"Okay." I said. He ran up to me and hugged my waist. "Yay." He said. "We'll come with." Ken said. They grabbed their coats and walked with us to the car outside. We got in and drove off. We heard to Lake Light. It was named that because of how the sunlight would be so beautiful glistening off the lake. Everything there was so peaceful and magnificent. The sunlight made the area around here so beautiful. We pulled up and walked through the forest to get to it. "Angel, are you okay?" Darwin asked. "What do you mean?" I asked, curiously. "I saw they vision of what happened at school." He said. "Darwin!!!" Ken said. Darwin looked down. "No it's fine. I'm better now, thank you Darwin." I said. He hugged my waist. "Look there it is." Addie said, pointing at the lake. It was so beautiful. I always felt so at home with this place.

I smiled as I took in the sight. "You love it here, don't you Angel?" Kacey asked. I nodded. "I wish I could live here." I said. I walked down to the water and dipped my fingers in. I smiled as the water felt good on my skin. "Ya know Angel? This is pretty peaceful out here." Ken said, coming up behind me. "It really." Sarah said. We played for a bit, skipped rocks, then headed back to the house. It was fun to visit Lake Light again. It was the one place I know I can feel safe at. as we drove back to the house, I thought about today and my parents. I love them but they don't love me. I'm always getting sexually harassed, unloved, and treated like garbage. I try to be a positive as I can but it's hard. We pulled up to the house and got out. I headed upstairs to Kacey's room.

I walked to her bathroom and took my shower. She gave me some of her clothes to wear. I climbed in her bed and stared out the window. I cried silently in the pillow. Kacey must've felt something was wrong because she looked over me. "Stop crying love. It's gonna get better." She said. "How?" I asked, between sobs. "Trust me Angel. It will get better babygirl." She said, as he held me. I turned over in her arms and hugged her. We watched cartoons til we fell asleep. I loved Kacey so much. She was the sister I always wanted. She was there for me no matter what. I knew I can count on her for anything. I hope I can repay her for all she's done for me. And her parents. I just hope what she said was true. That things will get better for me. I hope it did.
